Very interesting. The Grot Revolution... or one of them on this forum, snagged a couple servitors in the fluff and I have been thinking about what the grots would do with them ever since. I like your version quite a bit, and nice remote too!

I love the new commissar too.

My dual kopta, you say? Well... er- I'm still building my mek's shop. ;P

Lord of Change: Thanks!

Rose_Mountainz: Thought you'd like that one . I was considering giving the servitor orange clothing to tie him into the army, but I'm not sure it'll work out. Maybe I should use snotlings instead and put them on the servitor's shoulder?

Vitruvian XVII: I agree, but the gs wasn't fully dry when I took the pic. I'll be cleaning it up later on. Maybe I should try out brown stuff, it's rumoured to be easier to work with when it comes to making hard edges.

The Good Green: that was my fluff . There's only one thing that concerns me about the commissar: I just built a 1750 point slist, and I would only need 4 in that list, let alone smaller builds... On the one hand, I want to add more grots, on the other hand I still want a competitive army - choices, choices... Now go finish that mek-shop!

Commissar Agro: Glad you liek him! I'm quite proud of the remote myself it's pretty basic but it get sthe idea across

Now some minor updating: here's a next loota model. I had an old Necromunda heavy stubber lying around (from Brakar the Avenger), and figured a grot wielding it would be pretty cool. I might need to gs him a bandana though - and maybe a jade figurine . he doens't really scream 'loota' to me, but he was too cool to clog up the base with another grot. My other lootas will be weapons teams with biggerized bases (plasticard on top so ihave some room to play with), but this guy will be added as is :

[

And I also finished another megagrot, bringing my grand total up to 4

The gallery messed around with the colours a bit, but the orginal was pretty faded due too the flash. Hopefully I'll be able to bring you a grot weapons-team next, but the models are proving pretty hard to conert - those plastic grots will only get you so far...

Great work as always. My only advice would be, don't limit yourself to one design! It is very grotty/orky to have alot of variation, so mix it up! Just do something unique for their paint scheme to tie them together, so your opponents won't get confused.

Vitruvian XVII: Me neither . If I find some, I'll let you know how it works out! And it's a rebel grot - of course he's ripped!

Heffling: I totally agree . Since I'll be doing two loota units, one will be weapons teams and one will be looted servitors. That way it'll be easy to distinguish between them as well.

Commissar Agro: Yes he is . I looked at the stubba, thought 'Rambo' (or Hot shots) and figured I just needed to make this guy! The megagrot is just a regular megagrot, but I like the expression on his face- he be badass as well!

Dysartes: Couldn't agree more! I just need to gs him a bandana and he'll be good to go!

A slightly different update today, since my maelstrom package arrived and it included a battlewagon. Naturally, my shiny new package syndrome (also known as modeller's ADD) kicked in and I felt like ripping of the plastic and starting on a second wagon. I didn't want to do a second squiggoth one, and while looking for inspiration I stumbled onto Sukigod's biggerized wagon. Combine that with the fact that I had two track units and that I like the gorgon:

I followed the cutting pattern from Sukigod, but after that this wagon will be totally different, since I inverted the body, making where the cabin usually is the rear of the wagon. I'll be putting a cabin in the back though (it's orginal place), since I want to keep the front as a huge bay full of grots waiting to be unleashed. Now I just need a system to lift the deffrolla so the little guys don't get splattered as soon as they get out . The plasticard is just there for structural support right now, I'll be grottifying it later on.

Vitruvian XVII: your prayers to the machine gods have been answered

Arakasi: So, you surf the net so you don't find inpiration? . Look at it this way: if you can finish your 1000 points in time, you can get yourself a reward by making a biggerized truck or wagon - consider it an additional motivation

Young Logan: the finished BW may still be a while off, but this pic should give you an idea of the general shape of the thing. As for armament: two big stubbas and a deffrolla should do . If I ever add big guns, I'll make them like medieval cannons, on a wheeled chassis. That way, I can add them anywhere!

So, some progress pics. I built up the basic shape. The cabin at the rear is still loose, hence the rather ramshackle look. I'll be building up the sides near the cabin a bit more, and I need to figure out a defrolla contraption, becasue I intend to give the BW an assault ramp. On my other BW, not only is it hard to imagine 20 orks in there, but my grot gorgon has a much higher ground clearance then the IG one, so I need some way of gettin' the boyz in action while not breaking their legs or getting splattered by the deffrolla .

Piccies!

As you can see the top of the turret is just balanced on, hence the weird angle. If I can pull it off I'll keep the roof removable and build up the interior.

The side view nicely shows the profile, which looks a bit ship-like. The rear tracks are not attached yet, since I realised (after attaching the front pair ) that it might make painting rather hard.

Things that need doing:
- Build a deffrolla and an assault ramp that fits over it
- Build up the rear and try to keep the roof removable.
- Make the platform bigger
- Add a decent underside to camouflage all the cunnin' kuttin'

Hahaha! Looks awesome!!

A detailed interior would be seriously cool, i know you can pull it off.

I can't help thinking that the sides need to be a bit bigger and you need some struts over the top like the FW one. However, this isn't a copy, and i imagine the logistics would be hard so i dunno really. Just putting it out there

Good work, and keep it up!

No. But I do have to be careful of over inspiration whilst deadlines loom. I was just a bit caught off guard by your latest inspirational project - it just seemed to come out of nowhere. On the upside - I'm liking this one from the beginning On the downside, my reward is probably just going to have to be some games and finishing paint jobs...

Vitruvian XVII: Thanks ? I'm planning out the interior, and I think it'll work out.. The floor has a big hole in it where the turret ring was, and I think I'll add a ladder and a grot poking his head through; maybe some bits to suggest an engine room? The sides will be bigger, and the rear will be widened a bit so you walk past the cabin, I just need to get the plasticard work done.

Gathering Storm: Thank you!

MajorTom11: More balls then brains sometimes . Megagrots and burnagrots tend to ttake quite some room, so filling him shouldn't be a problem!

Lord of Change: Thanks!

Arakasi: Figured that much. I ahd the same problem, as a matter of fact. I intend to get my lootas and maybe some more basic grots done, and then my maelstrom packacge showed up... And since I can resisit anything but temptation, I decided to buold the second battlewagon. My excuse is that I'll need it anyway .Playing games is a nice reward, I played one yesterday wioth an incomplete army (test run for the grots), and it felt wrong. I much prefer a fully finished army, so I can understand your pain!

monkeytroll: Thanks! I'v considerd a Z-shaped construction go over the defrolla that could 'flip' down, creating a bridge to deploy the grots. Still in the conceptual phase though...

Dysartes: lol... If you can find me an example, I'll consider it No idea on how to an escalator type thingy that fits over a defrolla...

alexwars1, Commissar Agro: same offer, find me an example

On the gaming side, I played a1750 battle vs space marines yesterday with the list I posted higher up (p. 15). It was an annihilation mission in which I had 16 KPs vs his 10, but I won because I focused everythign on one half of the battle and my opponent had some bad scatters with his pods an vanguard vets. Still, it felt like I needed a lot of luck... The 5-man loota units aren't very reliable, the 10 man burna boyz on the other hand...were brilliant . I didn't use my kans very well either, and as I feared, enemy dreads are a horror to this army. So, I'll be considering some minor changes, though I like the basic list. More fine tuning is in order I guess! I' hope to get the basic cabin shape done somwhere tonight or tomorrow, and maybe a defrolla with bridhe idea.

Cheers!

Earlobe deep in doo doo

How about a cunningly designed Deff Rolla based on the WW2 Sherman Crab but positioned at a height to just hit bigga enemies heads just having it raised a (scale) meter of the ground would do the trick!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. Sorry i was just joining the bandwagon there.

congrats on the win.

I think Llamaheah has a good idea but...
instead have the deff rolla be able to move up and down so that the assualt ramp may be lowered and the grots run out underneath the rolla. I don't know how you would do it though.

Llamahead: Just using chains fro a deffrolla doens't really merit D6 S10 hits vs vehicles IMO, but the attachment of the system is quite ingenious. If I can reproduce it, I could just raise the deffrolla and have the ramp attached to the 'deck'. Nice find!

Commissar Agro: Figured that much . If I use a lever system I should be able to have the deffrolla raisable - this might be a good idea for those two grabba klaw arms I still have. Thanks for the idea!

I give you many examples of escalators.

No-one said you were after sensible suggestions, after all.

If the escalator doesn't go ahead, can I suggest one of those inflatable ramps they have in planes in case of a splash landing? For example, see the end of Die Hard 2.....

HadoukenAvenger: Thanks!

Dysartes. A BW example of course! Hm. Die Hard 2... I'll have to make a grot McClane now

Boss 'eadbreaka: Thank you! A looted thank would fit in, but the codex entry is so horribly bad... Maybe I'll build some kind humm-vee for the grot tanks, the rules seem kinda fun!

Now, for some progress pics! I finished the basic shape, now I need to add some detailing, set up the interior (roof is still removable), fill up the plasticard, and make a decent underside. The deffrolla has become huge, but I needed some space for it to be able to lift without being in the way of the ramp. I'm still on the fence on that one, so suggestions are welcome (Dysartes: sensible suggestions! )

Piccies:

And with a grot and megagrot for scale purposes:

Pretty awesome!

I think the roller looks good, but is too far away from the tank when deployed... maybe shorten the struts? Also, some type of shock absorbing plasti rod rig could look cool.

It sort of looks like a mini aircraft carried to me because of the flat top with the isolated 'building' or tower... maybe cool to take some additional inspiration for detailing from that? I dunno, just brainstorming -
