Hmmm. My first thought was to move the hinge back further, which would bring the roller closer, but would reduce your clearance over the ramp. That and the side jutting bits would get in the way or make it too wide (in my opinion)....
My second thought was bring the roller closer and just have the ramp open horizontally over it, allowing the grotz to disembark with out danger of the rolla - well - until the BW moves again You could possibly even hinge the ramp in the middle so they don't have to jump down so far...
My third thought got a bit crazy and incorporated horizontal sliding of the pivot point...
I do think the rolla is too far forward though...

I think shorting it is a good idea. Maybe make the ramp fold in the middle like a truck lift.
Also, did I miss the pics of the underside? It looks like you fabricated some of the frame for the tracks to connect to. Can you post some shots of that? Thanks.
The upper deck looks cool. I love the little latter. I'm really starting to think about all the floor space you have there. It's a lot of room for goofy details.

yeah,
I really like how different the main body looks.
I'm just not sold on the roller mate.
I can see why your deffRolla arms are so long, but I think your going to have a few game issues with it.
Does it count for LOS to the wagon?
Is it the roller that has to impact a enemy tank to ram it or the wagon hull?
Where is the center of the vehicle?
Before the new battle wagon kit there was images of custom 1'+ long battle wagons that would start sideways on the deployment edge, in the first turn pivot 90degree on their center and grab 6" of free movement! this will still be fresh in some peoples minds when they see this!
But loving the squeaky waaagh!!!
moah fluff please!
Panic...
edit:
You could ditch the DeffRolla... looked good without it.
IMO fluff wise once you place a big heavy spiky deffRolla on the front of a battle wagon just by looking at it you lose all front access privilages.

MajorTom11: Thanks! I agree that it's too long, I've shortened it (pics below); the defrolla will be getting more detailing, but I need to get the positioning right before messing about with details. Hmm, aircraft carrier; if I hadn't added the sides, a grot jetfighter would've been cool. Still, I might change the setup of the big shootas to match carrier gun posts and such. Thanks for the idea!
Arakasi: Option two is my choice . I'll probably add an additional hinged part so the grots can reach the ground - maybe wioht hydraulics. The horizontal pivot point did occur to me, but then I realized I'd have to build a 'gatehouse' around the ramp which would ruin the effect. I also thought about klaw/buzzsaw arms, but that din't really seem deffrolla-like to me.
The Good Green: shorting and folding it is . No pics of the udnderside yet, I've added few for you. Nothing too spectacular though, I've only detailed the sides where the tracks will go a bit. I plan to add some snots here and there, but I want to keep the surface relatively open to get that cargo loader feel across.
ceorron: It may be somewhere, but here's the recipe:
- black undercoat
- macharius solar orange basecoat
- vomit brown drybrush
- ogryn flsh wash
- drybrush vomit brown again
- on big stuff, add additional highlights with a mix of vomit brown and bleached bone, and end with almost pure bleached bone.
Enjoy!
Finch Claw: thanks!
Panic: Glad you like it! Always means something when coming from a fellow grot revolutionary . I agree that the orginal roller design wasn't all that, hence the shortening. Good point about the game issues as well, hadn't even considered those; and the whole 6" gain thingy is just... low. The new design shouldn't have those problems, especially since the ramp hangs over the rolla, making it a 'real' part of the hull. As for ditching the rolla: that would be like ditching a third of my anti--tank potential! Plus, I like the concept . The whole front access thing... You've got a point, but this battlewagon will prove that it's possible . The defrolla is removable anyway, so I can still change my mind.
Glad you love the squeaky waagh, fluff is being cooked up but not ready for publication just yet... A bit more patience!
Anyway, some piccies with the shortened rolla arms; detailing still needs to be added. And two pics of the rear track area for The Good Green
The plastic rod in there was added for structural stability; I'll reinforce it with plasticard before closing it up just to be sure! So, better? I say yes, but I still have the buzzsaw arms in mind as well!

Hinge another ramp from the end of your current one so it rotates fully. In the up position, it should lay on the current ramp, effectively doubling its thickness. In the down position it should rotate to provide a ramp past the rolla. Add pistons and gubbins to taste
Its still a mighty long battlewagon. Oh well, more scrap parts for Da Dark Angelz

monkeytroll: netting would be hard for either megagrots or burnagrots to use, and since they will be in the bw, it doesn't seem very appropriate

FFFFFFFFFFFing RAD!!!!!! The interior is awesome. Nothing like a little animosity to liven up a cockpit. I'm gonna steel that ladder, too. Great use of those handle things. The new mods to the ramp are spot on! The blade is perfect, and it moves!!!!! I would say "too much" but, to be honest, there is no such thing! I am thoroughly impressed with this kustom build battle wagon. Now put some spikes on that deff rolla!

The Good Green: Thanks man! I was not as sure about this one as about the walking bw, oddly enough - I really needed the inside to add a bit of life and grotty goofiness, I guess . The ladder is an easy solution and allows for something to do with pretty useless bits . I won't be putting spikes on the deffrolla though; it can turn right now if I move the wagon forward, and that's a feature I want to keep. I'll probably add a few armour plates to break it up though - if I'll be tinkering with anything, it'll be the rolla.
Death Gear: Thanks!

Ahh, the pleasures of bit-box rummaging, a most excellent way to achieve nothing for extended periods of time And oh, so dangerous with the possibilities to be discovered Hmm, perhaps I could blame my modellers ADD on the influence of some slaaneshi cult?
