lanman - Thanks!!

mindfield - Thanks!!

After a fun night of soldering and gluing and testing the 4 dashboards now have their lights installed! I've got to make a run on Monday to my local electronics store to get some more resisters to finish wiring them in but they're ready to go.

I must subscribe to this thread. It has to be amongst the most epic ones that I've ever seen. I cannot possibly miss any future work progress that you make. It's just too awesome to be true!

At this point they are totaly awesome, but with such tools of mass production why stop at 4, iknow it seems to be a resanable number, and aybe 20 seems a bit cocky, but doing say another 2 seems so minor with bigger visaul impact, have those two a sortof comanders in two squads of three so they almost look like parts of an organised formation.

Commander Cain - Thanks! I've posted the step by step so people who don't think they can do it can just follow the steps.

Cosmic - Thanks!!

Ryan Hyde - Thanks! As I said these aren't exactly small. So while it would be cool to field the entire Legio Metallica I really can't store it or afford the resin and silicon. Also tracking down the toys I used for the backpack and sounds is becoming harder everyday as they've been out of production for a few years now. Besides hounds usually operate in pairs so a pair of pairs just fit.

manoknok - Thanks?

CrazyMez - Thanks!!

Xenon - Thanks!

I may do a little work on them this week but it will definitely be limited as I have a major programming assignment due.

Well I got one of the dashboard wired in and working, it's not glued in or finished painting but it'll give a good idea about how it glows. But since pictures really can't show off the multi-LED very well I took a short video.

As the numberless fans of this thread already said time and again, good job man! The titans are shaping awesomely with all those lights and moving parts on the weapons.

Which brings me the question I'm having (while I'm also scratchbuilding my own titan, albeit not in a pretty way like yours). Isn't it a heresy to put all those 'bling' on the titans, wherein the original ones are primarily static models? Like the FW ones for instance.

I bought a foghorn circuit (to make into a warhorn for the titan) whileback and I'm having second thoughts on putting it on my project, thinking it will make it a little farther from the usual models and gameplay. Any thoughts?

Some of my local game community even suggested to me putting lights on, just like you did. But..

It's great to see progress on this project again, Foda. Again, this is a classic example of what people with the right mindset, tools and know-how can do with the hobby.

Considering the Imperator titan in your avatar didn't exist until the gentleman kit bashed it from a MK3 warlord and an Imperator I believe he was considering "heresy". Its all up to you. If you want to put lights and sounds in every one of your marines, its up to you. If you want to paint everything pink and purple with hello kitty heads, its up to you.
Remember GW made this stuff up to begin with there's nothing in the rule books or anything else that says "Turn off your imagination and give us your money".

This is your hobby. GW or FW isn't going to come in in the middle of the night and break your models because you decided to put lights in them. I put lights in mine because I believed it would cause people to go "Wow, cool lights" and thus be drawn to the blinking thing like moths to a flame and look at the titans they might have missed otherwise believeing they were just another Forgeworld model. It also supplies some simulated animation to a static model. If you look at the start of the video where you're looking through the cockpit window at the multi-LED you think there's movement or something going on because of the shifting "random" movement of the colors.

I both love and hate this thread:

Love how amazing the work is you are doing. Amazing casting skills and equipment. Fantastic attention to detail on a project this big. And perhaps best of all, lots of great pictures.

Hate that I don't have the stones to do something this epic. But at least it inspires me to do more on my hobby!

Got tired of clapping with my human hands, so I made some bionic ones to hail Foda ad infinitum, hehehe! Bravo man..

One more question again though,I'm making my own titan out of cardboard (actually illustration boards), is it in any danger of being ruined early on, like with insects and stuff? I have invested enough time on it to mean something to me, so I thought of asking you bout it. Seeing you made yours in plasticard and silicon most of it? So I think it's more durable for years to come.

Maj.Winters - Thanks! Please post your works, I love seeing other peoples hobby work!

mindfield - I don't think insects should really bother cardboard. I've got a friend who started a warhound when I started mine (he finished the construction and primed it) and his is plasticard, cardboard, and small bits. Just be sure you don't paint it too heavily or it will warp, just be sure to paint it in multiple THIN coats and not one HEAVY coat.

I'll try to get some more work done tonight, but mainly it's becoming sanding, although I did get some spot colors on the dashboard.

So I've been thinking with these nice warhounds it would be a shame to have to keep 2 dice on top of them all game to track shields and structure points. Wouldn't it be easier and cooler to have LEDs do it for me? Well no, and yes (in that order). It is a TON cooler, but it wasn't easier.

First up I built a test

That's a decade counter, with the push of the button the light goes 1, 2, 3, 4, ... all the way to 10 and then resets. However I'm only going to ever need at most 3. Well 3 looks silly so I went with 4 (and my playgroup is tweaking apoc as we play it more so warhounds may get 4 structure points). So if I wire 5+ together it'll hit them all at once and trigger the reset.

Well that sounds awesome but where to put it, well I'd left a trench in the body "wings" for just such an LED occasion, however where does the button go? After some searching the best place turned out to be the bottom of the nice thick resin reactors.
So after a bit of drilling and carving I had the following (and a room full of dust).

So where do the LEDs go? Why in this new hole

The strip at the bottom was added to cover up any mistakes and to add more neat trim.

So with those holes drilled I needed to build 4 little circuit boards to hold the 8 chips and here they are.

Very cool idea with the lights! Next you will be telling us that you don't want to move the titan with your hands, you will get it to move by remote control (hmm, that would actually be quite cool...)

Very good idea bout the shield and struct counter, got a similar idea but using banners or flags on the titan's shoulders. I guess using eletronics just made it more awesome Good job so far!

By the way, can i ask you about the power supply you're using for the LED's? I plan to give my project some lights too,but i'm no eletronics expert.
