Runnin up on ya.

I need to be adopted by an Australian since they're apparently all as rich as Saudi oil sheiks.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

They're selling it for $190 AUD.

Habba whabba fubba dooba WHAT?!

They do this for all their products. This is why Australians had a collective apoplectic fit when GW enacted the embargo. You see, instead of adjusting their Australian prices to be more reasonable, they deemed Maelstrom et al to be freeloaders and banned them from selling to Australia.

Oh, I know about all of that. I still did a double take when they want $200 for a second rate board game.

And reposted from the GW website. Warseer doesn't have pics or full text BTW.

Hrmh.

Looks like fun. I can afford it, and I could likely use it as a way to sucker people into getting interested in fleet games like Spartan Games'...but do I really need more work for my painting table?

What a mess of cruddy mismatched models. Though tbh i would only have been interested if it was full size models which isnt feasible.

190 dollars, what!!!!! this is an outrage. That alone has put me off.

Models look detailed but not $115 worth of detail. For a board game @ $115 I would be expecting a lot more - certainly more than 10 ships. Let's not say "oh there is island and cards etc" because those are just incidentals. It is the ships that count.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

this all together makes me want to play non GW games. I can't believe it, I mean space hulk was worth it, but this.

life.

The one problem with getting me to buy this. is that i only want the tomb king ship, and even then only to base and put on my desk.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

There is better naval battle products over there, mayber their ships are not the perfect ones, but they are not made of pure gold...
The sad party is that GW will actually sell this thing enough to call it a "success".

Why is it sad if it succeeds? Who cares? Who really gives a rat's?
Maybe if this thing is a success, it'll get us WHQ re-released in a year or two.

Oh yes. My opulence would make some of the American billionaires blush with embarrassment at just how poor they really are. I mean, I only have to put 60% of my monthly pay-packet into my mortgage. Suck on that Bill Gates!!!

The game looks... colorful, but not exactly what I would want in a game. $115 is a pretty penny, even from the Warstore at a presumed 20% discount.

Some of those ships are pretty awesome though, like the Skaven lantern fish, or the Araby ship with the djinn blowing the sales.

Space Hulk - you can use all the lovely minis in 40K.
This game - you can't (unless you have a vivid imagination).
Can't decide whether I like the skaven fish boat or not.
Would have though Skyre would have been building ships.
For £70, for a non-expandable game, might get one but probably not.
If you could expand the fleets & have different ship classes then I would have.
Oh well.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Why didn't they make a fleet expansion for Warhammer and release decently sized vessels for all races that they sell for $60+ a pop?

Edit: It seems that one of the biggest expenses in Warhammer is having to buy a fething ton of troops since pretty much every army fields tons of >10 point troops. There is no need for vehicles, a boarding/small naval war game could add on vehicular cost for an expansion that a lot of people would be interested in. If something like that came out I would easily drop up to $300 US on ships for TK or perhaps Ogre Maneaters...

Looks interesting, but not at that price for a game that will last a month(maybe two), and the models are useless elsewhere. At lease Space Hulk had kick-ass models to use in standard 40k games.

Another thing that keeps me from pre-ordering it is that I have no idea how it plays. I don't know if I'd like the game's rules.

If only GW had a sort of box that they could ship out to their shops with open copies of rules so people could discuss the rules, begin to learn how to play the game, and pre-order the kit in anticipation of playing it. They could also put in spruces of new things so people can ogle the bits/models, begin coming up with paint schemes, and pre-order the kit in anticipation of building and painting the models. The box could be black in color, that would be pretty suitable. Unfortunately, such a box does not exist, to my knowledge.

Watched the video. Again, meh - for the same price, I can get 2 fleets for Uncharted Seas, which have more ships anyway, and the rulebook.

Good god.

Only if you go based on average household incomes and exchange rates, and other such "statistics". If you go by the more sensible "whining on internet" data, Australians are in fact the poorest people on the planet.

I wish they had put something in there to give a sense of scale - not that I'm terribly interested given the price.

The sea mat actually looks very nice though. I think it's my favorite part.

Why didn't they just redo Warhammer Quest? Perhaps we'll get it in 2013, if GW ever release another set after this....

There's a picture of a ship next to a D6 and a Empire foot troop on the website? Golden hammer boy is about the size of a human.

If it is a success, they will not change anything, will just do the next things exactly like this. And your WHQ re-release will have 5 miniatures, and will cost 500 U$ bucks...

I'll not purchase Dread Fleet, and instead, purchase a fleet for myself and one for a friend to start Dystopian Wars, and still have enough left over for a case of beer for game night.

I want to get a CoA fleet for myself. My friend will probably do Prussia, as he likes the German motif in all things wargame.

Back OT: I would have been all over this game if it was expandable. When I first started getting into wargaming, I was really interested in Man 'O War and always regretted not getting into it while it was around. I just have zero interest in paying $115 for a board game that will not be expanded upon. I probably would have still purchased it for around $60-$65, but this is priced at about double what I think it's worth.
