Update - Terminator Colour Test
Now my intention is to GS flames on these guys but I wanted to get some colour on them to see if any extra bone was needed as well and the results are quite good I think!

The only thing that I could think of GS wise is to bone up the ridges on the leg armour, and/or replace the chest eagle with GSed Ribcage-like bones.

The flame on the shoulderpad looks awsome.

Maybe use the flame-glow effect on the eyes.

No matter what, its still better than I can do. God, I'm rusty. :-P I've started my own little project log.

The Helm is from Inquisitor thought I can't remember which model, he's uber creepy which is what I was going for, which is great it worked thanks for stopping by btw !

BLACKHAND wrote:Dread is epic, love how he actually bristles with weapons

The weapon arms are all made form Landraider weapons I wanted that bulk the normal arms just don't have the trimming the original mount on an angel and some clever use of pinning wire and his arms are angled just right for that big guns will use them pose he's up there with my Favorite model so far! Do you think I went overboard by adding the Fire Hawks icons and symbols to him?

Agree with Wolfshadow, adding bones will balance out the firehawks icons, and I think you should GS the flames as well to give them the same level of detail as the FW torso.

Well this is a first for me my local GW store was out of GS at the same time so was the Hobby shop and the other Miniature gaming store go figure so no GS flames as yet but I'm on it for sure also the lower shield on his leg is now the Legions symbol of bone (painted to see what it looks like).

What I did manage to do was get my hands on the new LoTD box and hastily set to work creating an Icon of GW history "Sergeant Centurius" now for those who don't know this legend of a marine and model he was released back in the 90's as a limited model in celebration of the 100th GW store's grand opening and was sold out before you could say hmm yes I'll have one of those thanks!

And though I do have an original Centurius on it's merry ole way I could not help myself but to make one.

Starting with the new boxed Sergeant I cut and pinned and fiddle and drilled and below is the outcome now again I'm still shooting form my phone (it's late and I CBF setting up the camera) so the photos could be better but hey
at least he's done right???

So yeah he turned out pretty good.

On top of that I got the rules sent to me today now I will need to adjust them and I will have to see how he works etc. but

As of WD 195 this was his rules

Points: Free and he was a must take option
M WS BS S T W I A Ld
4 6 6 4 4 1 6 1 9
Power Armor 3+, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades, Chainsword, Animus Malorum

The Animus Malorum
Is an ancient relic taking the form of a skull whose eyes blaze with light when its power is unleashed. During the Psychic phase the power of the Animus Malorum may be targeted at a single enemy model within 12". You may use between 1 and 3 Force cards to power the skull. Roll a d6 for every Force card used. If the result is more than the target's Leadership value then its soul is sucked from its body- the model is dead regardless of wounds or armor. If the target is killed then you may resurrect a dead Legion of the Damned model, placed within normal unit coherency. This may not be used to increase the size of the unit beyond its original size. The power of the skull may be nullified like a psychic power, requiring a 4+ to successfully nullify.

These rules are old as the hills, and are in contradiction to the Apoc sheet which suggest Centurius is a Captain or Chapter Master grade marine.

so as a compromise (not really) I thought Vulcan makes a good Centurius, there will be no resurrecting the dead but the skull could work like the heavy flamer fist Vulcan uses and the sword is a master crafted chain-sword etc.

tell me what you think!

He looks great Santobell! Only suggestion might be to set off the scroll cases a bit... make them look more bone or ivory... or even jade colored to add some interest to the icon. Base is a nice counter-point to all the black.

I was going for a leather face-ish tone, I mean the guys a ghost so really normal flesh just felt wrong, I've finished the exposed skull side now too

jamunition wrote:Thats awesome, and i love the terminators

Cheers matey, I really want to include them though recently I discovered that my planned 1500 has already blown out to 1700 so the question I have to ask is do I fill out to 2000 or cut back, my big problem here is the models are OOP and I was hoping to keep away from the new models except for use in my command squad.

Miss Dee wrote:That is a good build keep it up mate.

Thank you Thank You, I hope I can keep it going, I have an original Sgt Centurius on it's way now so... yay just after I made my own my wife tracked down and got me the original ha ha now I have to fit him in somewhere anyway.

Commander Cain wrote:Great conversion! Love to see LOTD given some love

Now no real update other than the finished pic of Centurius, and me messing with a new way to take photos so hopefully better than before.

I got scammed so I was not able to get my original Centurius ... oh well I like my converted one to be honest.
oh and I re-read the rules for him he's not free well not entirely

his selection works like this.

You have to take him BUT you can do it in two ways
1. he joins an existing Legion squad and costs 40 points plus his war-gear
2. he costs 195 points but gets a bodyguard, plus his war-gear

So both are out as far as I'm concerned he's too powerful at those point costs I did some play-testing and he really eats units alive if left alone
on the flip side he does only have one wound so hmm not sure leave a comment and let me know what you all think about it.

The Animus Malorum was a 45 point war-gear card.
The bodyguard was 4 legion marines.

In other news I'm still painting and assembling them all, going slow trying to make it right and do the old models justice!

I have bee thinking about making a chapter master for them just as a colourful conversion project and to maybe field in a friendly game or two
so I was looking at the aspects of the Legion and I have decided they shoot but don't hack much (no assault squads after all).

and so I came up with

Chapter Master Varion Mortis Points 100+ 200 (Legion + normal points cost)
He has:
Artificer armor
Iron Halo
The Legions Regret
Aegis of the Legion

Special Rules:
Legion of the Damned - Mortis has all the same rules for the legion as outlined in the Apocalypses datasheet
Chapter Master - Mortis is a Space Marine chapter Master and gains all the standard special rules with the exception of Combat Tactics
We are Legion - Mortis can see threats to the Imperium of man directly through the eyes and ears of it's people allowing him to better perceive where to deploy his legion and when. If an army includes Mortis it will always deploy at the start of turn two instead of the random arrival rules used by the legion. Normal rules for scatter apply.

Wargear
Aegis of the Legion - Mortis bares the holy artifact known as the Aegis of the Legion this device allows him to, with enough concentration move a few moments forward or back in time along his own life line. Granting him the ability to re-roll his missed ranged to hit rolls.

The Legions Regret
- is a Twin-linked Stormbolter.

Let me know I'll start a conversion for him shortly after I finish a few more normal Legionaries.

That sounds pretty awsome Santobell.

Maybe take a look at Pedro Kanto's Stormbolter for rules? Espcially when you have the reroll ability already, twin linking it seems underpowered for the points.
