Me with Death Guard ( CSM ) vs my friends Eldar. I had managed to maneuver a tooled up Nurgle Chaos Terminator Squad into charge range
of his HQ ( Farseer & Warlocks on foot ).

Step 1: CHARGE! IN THE NAME OF GRANDFATHER NURGLE!
Step 2: The Space Hippies kill two of my guys
Step 3: Whatever! Here comes the retribution! 2 Powerfist, 3 Lightning Claw and 2 Power Sword wounds materialize.
Step 4: The Grand Hippie and his Loyal Vassals shrug of every wound except one...
Step 5: I LOSE the combat by one...and fail the Morale check...and get run over

Larry. Larry the Termagant.

This little bugger has killed terminators (normal and chaos) and once even bought down an eldar autarch over a few turns of combat.

Worst of all, he just never dies. Heavy flamers roll ones to wound, BS5 rolls a one to hit, 6+ cover save, whatever. Always the last man standing at the end of the game.

i was playing Logan-wing containing nagal and eldar and it was kill points i had the game like 7-4 and only 2 models left njal and logan the two greatest warriors in the SW codex.

After volley after volley of fire prism shuriken and even brightlance and dark reapers both on 1 wound the last 2 models left to shoot are a farseer (singing spear) and a guardian who made his morale the guardian shoots njal with his shuriken catapult rolls are 6 to hit 6 to wound 1 on the armour save of 2+ njal after saving 4 turns of dark reaper fire goes down

at this point my opponent thinks its game over i point out the singing spear he says it isn't worth it but i tell him to roll it anyway 6 to hit 6 to wound 1 on the save and logan dies after being impaled it was ridicolous but fun at the same time somehow a picture of logan roaring in victory and a eldar farseer getting annoyed and throwing his spear comes to mind

My nightbringer, last tournament.

He saved all of mephiston's attacks, and i was rubbing my hands in glee with the likelyhood of breaking that cheeseball into slices with my far more expensive cheese-board..

He hits, with all his attacks.

My opponent buries his face in his hands, as it's surely all over bar the funeral..

S 10, no saves allowed...

He fails to wound. With every last stinking wound.

I took a vicious ribbing that tournament

Once I've seen a player rolling ten dices to hit with his Taus.... 9 on 10 were 1s. We were all shocked.

Another bad thing happened to me with a bike assualt in hazardous terrain (my bad) with a full squad of bikes.... just two of them survived the death roll....

Back when I played 40k (late 90s) I played as Imperial Guard and always took my trusty Eversor with me.

In one game against my friends Space Wolves, I remember him single-handedly taking out a squad of Wolf Guard, followed shortly by their SM Captain. He was only stopped when he finally ran into a Dreadnought.

Not sure whether it's more an indicator of luck, or the fact that back in the day the Eversor was a monster.

Another mission, the powers have called me away. Another chance to carry the colours again. My motivation, an oath I've sworn to defend. To win the honour of coming back home again.

Blob squad rolled 1's for running all day. Plague marines pick off a few of them, take a morale test at Ld 9. Fail. Commissar shoots a sarge and tries it again. Fails. Just for fun, we shoot another sarge. Fails AGAIN. Rolls a 6 for fall back, goes off the board.

That and two manticores firing the whole game and managing to only scratch some Rhino paint. One manticore got 3 shots off, the other got all 4. Nobody hit anything. 320 pts of my list useless.

At the big apoc game (The big one that broke all the records) that happened in Feb I was playing my guard. 1st turn baneblade gets hit by lascannon, penetrates, and rolls a 6,6,5 on the damage table.

Bye-bye baneblade I stayed up till one painting :(

And no, he didn't have cheating dice, he is a close friend and we share dice often, I never can roll like that with his dice.

Worse part is....he's still bragging....

I've got a whole batrep from my second game with the AOBR set, where the SM troopers did better in CC than shooting, the Orks did better in shooting than close combat, and the Missile Launcher scattered into the squad firing it. It was a good laugh.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I have 26 darklight weapons in my army.

Two weekends ago at a tournament, in my game 3, my opponent trickled on from reserves and I was waiting for him. I got 2/26 hits (on a 3+), one glance, and a shaken result. During game 2, I got roughly the same results from my dice.

This past weekend, an Ork friend of mine was playing against Tau - he managed to cause enough wounds to a Tau warrior unit with an attached ethereal to make the ethereal take a wound. Which the Ethereal failed. Which causes every Tau in LoS to take a morale check. The mission was capture and control, and the Tau player put his objective in the very back corner of the board on the edge, and his army was clustered around it. Both of his warrior units on the objective ran off the table. His Broadside team ran off the table. His warrior squad halfway down the table ran off the table. He was left with a turretless hammerhead, a devilfish full of pathfinders, a unit of kroot 60" away from the action, and a unit of stealthsuits by the Ork objective (protected by gretchin). The stealth suits and gretchin then engaged in the most hilarious failure of close combat possible (since they are both awful at it).

My friend's Avatar of Khain missed 5 times in total with his Wailing Doom (basically a melta gun). For those of you who dont know about the Avatar's stats. he has BS 5. My own Zoanthropes didnt fare much better, dying of a brain aneuryism in turn 2 when he suffered 2 Perils of the Warp in a row. No he didnt get to use his power either.

Way back in second edition, I had an assassin with camelioline and a vortex grenade pop out in turn 2, right near my enemy's Avatar.

I roll a one to hit. This is the only way I could fail to hit. This means the grenade scatters, so no big deal, it could still work out. (1/6)

But then I roll a result of "hit" + "Misfire." What does this mean? It means the big bad assassin just threw the pin, instead of the grenade, and it drops at his feet. (1/36 chance with the old dice)

But wait! There is a chance I can save my guy, as I have a 4+ dodge! (1/2). Since I'm telling you this, you already know what I'm going to tell you, no?

Yup. The scenario that had a 0.18% chance of happening, happened. The assassin got et by his own grenade.

Sir Pseudonymous wrote:I had a wave serpent full of banshees tankshock into a guard squad that I didn't realize had a meltagun. The Melta failed to even glance, so the wave serpent hit the command squad behind it, shoving it off the objective. It then weathers a turn of being shot at by two vendettas without taking a scratch and disgorges the banshees to chew up the guardsmen's flank. It proceeds to tank shock another guard squad, which flees off the board, and then kill one vendetta with it's missile launcher, exploding it and killing several nearby stormtroopers. The next vendetta manages to take off the missile launcher, so I have the wave serpent ram it on my next turn, exploding the vendetta (killing another nearby guardsman) and taking off the splinter cannon on the wave serpent. The now weaponless wave serpent proceeds to tank shock another squad, sending it off the board, after which the last guardsmen left alive, a stormtrooper sergeant with a plasma pistol, stumbles down a hill, shoots it, and the wave serpent explodes. Most insane thing I've ever seen happen.

When I had just barely bought my vindicator, I stayed up all night painting that thing since there was a tournament the very next day. Every single game I played my opponent got the first turn and my vindicator got blown up before it did anything. This not only happened the whole tournament.... but like the next three games after that... I was soooo sad... but... after that it's been a champ and usually kills tons of stuff, and was really instrumental in me winning the last game of our escalation league in which me and another guy were tied for first. In my mind the crew was just used to driving rhinos and razorbacks and really had to get the hang of a vindicator before they could not get esploded first turn? Maybe...?
