Seriously. Everything's all, "OMG WE'RE GETTING INVADED!" this and, "CLEANSE, PURGE, KILL!" that. It's like no one in the galaxy is able to formulate a thought other than, "Him different. Me kill different," even when the different thing is on their side! There's not enough hugs going on in the galaxy, and too much gloomy doomy doooooooom!
That's why I made my custom Sisters of Battle Order. They're much more friendly and lovable and snuggly.
Edit: Thinking about it more, maybe I don't WANT to play Dark Millennium Online when it eventually comes out. It'll probably be all gloomy and doomy and there won't be any heroes and everyone will be a jerk!
That should actually be a bigger impetus to play. A ray of light in a grim galaxy of perilous adventure (GGOPA). You and the Glee Marines going about, spreading the joyous word of the Emperor, bringing his light into the dark places of the galaxy, kicking the ass of evil wherever it may be found...
I'm pretty sure that was the 2nd Legion. And the World Eaters shoved them out the airlock.

Well, I *did* add "kicking the ass of evil wherever it may be found". The 2nd Legion had made the grave error of failing to include that in their tactical doctrine.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Dude, the necron codex isn't even out yet. How could he have forced you to play IG?
I understand if that was before the update (they were unplayable back then), but they are looking a lot better now.

BUTTKICKING FOR GOODNESS! Come on Boo!
My least favorite thing to happen to 40k was/is the lack of loyalty. I'm pretty much out of buying for the game becuase of it. They probably would have gotten hundreds of dollars from me over the last 4 months or so, but with the whole ROW thing... I voted with my wallet. Now I only buy 2nd hand. Which is a shame. I probably would have started another army by now otherwise.

Unless the vast majority of fluff rumors are completely incorrect, which is unlikely, it is easy to form an opinion on what was done to the Necrons, regarding the fluff.

My least favorite thing about 40k fluff is how ridiculous the Emperor and Primarchs have become. The big E should be sheer awesome, but when it gets to the point where he's basically untouchable it's just boring. He should be a tactical genius (no CREEEEEED intended), brilliant warrior and talented psyker, but when it gets to the point of ripping titans appart with his mind its just silly, like superman, being perfect is dull. My favorite of old school Emperor fluff, him almost being killed by a Warboss and having Horus save him, is how I'd like to see the Emperor represented. Awesome, but not completely infallible. I can't help but feel if that situation was being imagined for the first time now, the Emperor would spread the Ork's brains over the wall with his mind before he even saw him.

The Emperor's flaws lie in how he treated his sons, resulting in half of them rebelling, and he did come off as quite a dick. (big First Heretic Spoiler here)

What are you reading?
If anything, the Emperor comes across as very "fallible". Some might say he comes across as "a goddam idiot."

The loss of our beloved "sexy" daemonettes
I agree completely on your first and third points. I don't hate 5th itself, but dammit, I hate the vehicle rules. They are just the rules from 3rd Edition with a few more words added to get exactly the same effect. 4th's vehicle rules were so much better. Tanks functioned like tanks, instead of bunkers with treads. If you aren't a LR your tank isnt moving if you want to fire more than 1 gun. I find it hateful that guys on motorcycles are more effective than a 20 ton battletank.
Fortunately, I picked up 2 boxes of sexy daemonettes before they discontinued them. One of these years, I'll even put them together and paint them.
