In my first foray back into 40k for some time, I've decided to go for a long planned project, a genestealer cult. This particular cult has corrupted a Forge Temple, so lots of bio-mechanical goodness. Think Giger and you're there.

I'm trying to combine visual traits from the mechanicus with obvious cues from genestealer infestation. My first unit is a squad of hybrids led by a neophyte. The test model is a 2nd generation ymgarl hybrid. Here he is finished. The basing is ruined urban, pretty neutral so as not to clash with the colour scheme.

I don't think I've seen a 'stealer cult fused with the machine cult - looking quite cool so far - will be interesting to see where you take this!

If you've not already seen them, RUNE has a great 'stealer cult. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/277102.page

Aw, thanks...that's probably the biggest compliment you can give me.

Your angle on the GCult has loads of possibilities, and the first batch looks great...really looking forward to seeing where it goes!

Horrific! I quite like it, especially the trophy on the hybrid's back.

How much sculpting, if any, was used on the model?

Made in ie

Thanks. There wasn't much sculpting involved for this guy, mostly blending disparate parts together. The torso has had some rolls of fat added to tie it onto the dark elf torso. Here's how he looked before paint.

You have a great eye for combining various bits into one cohesive miniature. I expected there to be much more sculpting done on this figure.

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of this army!

Another hybrid finished. This time we're going old school. This is one of my favourite models from the Rogue Trader era. I didn't get this guy in a fortuitous ebay bid, no. He's been in my possession since he was first released. He's had to wait some decades, but here he is at last. Quite a fiddly model to paint, with a lot of recesses and awkward little details, but for all that a real joy to have finished.

I did agonise over what colour to paint his armour. Black, purple, red, all were considered. In the end, with the scheme I chose, a simple metallic seemed to work best. It also has the advantage of highlighting all the wonderful detail in the armour ribbing and various joints. I did paint the little backpack/powerpack on his back green, which I'm using on guns, satchels and so on as well.

Here he is with his new school brother. Now to give them someone to boss them around.

Nice, but don't genestealers look like normal humans? They ambush the enemy, not alert them. If any offense was felt, I sincerely apologize. I love how he is turning out and look forward to more if there are.

Oh, this is nice. Some old skool goodness in the shape of hybrids , some chopping of old skool to get the magos, and some nifty conversions to get the 2nd and 3rd gen. And some nice colours to go. Well, I'll make myself comfy and see what else comes along I think

I think some look human and some... don't. As for the wisdom of using covert operatives who look absolutely nothing like the population they're infiltrating, well... imagine they use the same technique that lets a Raven Guard in a ton of power armor gain Stealth.

As for the models themselves: they are pleasingly creepy. Like, hella creepy. Do you plan to play with them using any particular Codex they "count as"?

Well, if you check out Sister Sydney's homebrew/expansion rules, you'll find all kinds of units the Sisters could have, that fit with the theme of the Sisters (as a tabletop army) perfectly well, and are damn-near-perfectly balanced.

I’m updating that fandex now & I’m eager for feedback on new home-brew units for the Sisters: Sororitas Bikers, infiltrators & Novices, tanks, flyers, characters, superheavies, Frateris Militia, and now Confessors and Battle Conclave characters

Great use of models old and new and a lovely clean paint job. You already have enough for an Inq28 game. A few more and you could have a necromunda gang... After that you're already looking at kill team size

Do you have any games planned with these?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Thanks all.

Thanks. It's from the unbelievably useful dark eldar talos kit. Anybody doing admech or biomechanical conversions needs this kit.

Do you have any games planned with these?

I do indeed. I've used them for Pulp Alley 40k games. Very small scale, an awful lot of fun.

There's an extensive battle report for anyone interested. http://sho3box.wordpress.com/2014/07/21/get-to-the-chopper-ohammerer-brocon-2014-pt1/.

Next up, hybrid aberrations and 1st gen special weapons.

You'll have to forgive the blu-tack. There are a lot of robes, pipes and cutting up of stealer limbs to get these guys to work, but the mock-ups give you an idea of how they'll look.
