Which is a tad ironic I suppose when power wise Ultras are on the low end compared to SW and BA. Even within the SM codex, Salamanders took the cake

I am going to wonder how would the DA will fare out.

Space wolves have bad pricing on a main unit (Gray hunters), and Ultramarines have bad internal pricing, Salamanders only remorse was that they made the two things that make up salamander right now is pretty much the most points cost effective stuff in the codex (melta, hammers) with vulkan having bad pricing considering how good he is.

It sure is, the link in the img code goes to GW website, go look, you can order them now along with the rest of the new paint line.
I did get a link...but feeling mean Im sure you can get to the GW site yourselves

catharsix wrote:I think this is pretty irefutable proof that Dark Angels are going to be in the 6th Edition box set. If this pic of the basic Paints box is legit (and it sure looks like it is) it would indicate that thiese are the paints GW wants new users to buy to paint their 6th Ed box set armies. There's no UM Blue at all, and the pictures are of painted DA.

Now the question then arises, based on the other colors in this basic paint set, does that help us figure out what the 2nd army in the 6th Ed. box set will be? Are any of these colors:

Chaos-y?

Necron-y? (Though if the UM aren't in there, it isn't likely to be The Fall of Damnos as some have reported as a possibility)

Something else?

Automatically Appended Next Post:

"Mephiston Red" - Perhaps Word Bearers? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't someone suggest them as the possible legion that would represent Chaos Space Marines in the 6th Ed. box set?

The plot thickens! (Though hopefully these new paints won't, as they age... )

It's suspected that the new starter will be DA vs Chaos, and use the same basic force orgs as Black Reach to teach the same rules. The only major shift is likely the three bikes traded for the dreadnought, which ought to balance the points as well.
Suspected-
DA Captain
10 man Tac squad
5 man Deathwing Terminators
3 Bikes/Jetbikes

Chaos Lord/Sorcerer
5 Chaos Chosen
20 Cultists/renegades
Chaos Dreadnought.

That is not confirmed, but it is a likely list. Dread and renegades are rather solid though.

If you notice, a Starter and a paint set will add a combat squad to the Da list, giving them a legal army.

A Dark Angel 6th Ed starter army would please me I know its been fairly solid rumour for a while now and this paintset does seem to be a little confirmation.
I'm sure theyle go nicely with the ravenwing bike command squad on my shelf

Looking at the black reach paint set above I don't see any colours to paint the orks, just the Ultras. If that's the case then the starter set is just for the marines and perhaps they'll bring out another one for the other side which also makes it harder to peg who the other side will be. Looking forward to seeing what else this starter set will include given how amazing the AOBR set was.
They really couldn't have included the DA vets in their robes as that would limit the appeal of this set as many marine players and hobbyists don't use robed marines.

If any of these plasma tank rumors are true, you can bet money that I'm going to get them and then Chaos the feth out of them. Plasma weapons are virtually iconic in my Iron Warriors warband, the Iron Suns, so I will NOT be denied my plasma tanks of doom...at least in Apocalypse.

I'm not excited by the prospect of having a flavor of weapon (/tank/dred) specialization and a modular IC-like elite slot being the one stop for flavoring marine armies. Though you can feel it's tendrils around necron necks too.

I do like the idea of expanding on Dark Angles more arcane access to wargear, the idea of exploiting the flavor of drawing recruits from a variety of worlds and living in a space fortress and probably having the oldest stuffiest veterans in the imperium.

Having more access to wargear might mean a tag along squad leader would be able to bring some extra special weapons with a squad. I'd also be very happy if they might have orders or something similar to reflect their experience. Something other than just giving more access to a lame-o USR, so we can just write off DA as being the litanies of hate/extra plasma chapter and be done with it. Oh and I guess you can play "only terminators" or "only bikes and speeders" too.

Seems kinda cheap to me! I'd love it if someone gave them a little character in their rules.

I wonder if the should pads are in molded plastic or painted on. New plastic double arrows and a basic DA symbol are much sought after in my neck of the woods. The old metal ones are a tab too small on the newest plastic (released over the last 5 years) and look a bit odd on them. Anyways new plastic shoulder plates for tactical, assault, devastator would be kinda cool.

Yes, but I'd rather the Chaos starters have a CHANCE of winning. Don't wanna see Chaos PA & Traitor guard versus DA PA and a Dreadnought...you know, one-sided like the AoBR box.

There's a good chance of it happening. AoBR couldn't possibly balance the two games-wise, without presenting even a far more loopsided kit mini-wise. With both sides being PA, chances are that a roughly equivalent number of models will also get you a much more balanced set of starting-forces points-wise.

Of course, should they truely opt for some cultists of sort, game-wise balance will again fall out the window as these will take up rather alot of models that don't add as much to one of the two forces points-wise.

Well, we have no clue what's really in the box at this point. I think 20 heretics can take on a few Marines, especially with a special weapon or two and some support. Most people buy more stuff for their given army outside the starter set anyway, it's just a nice springboard. Worst case scenario you figure out the points and drop a few guys from the list with more points.

Supposidly the dread in the new starter set is for Chaos. So you get a couple Chaos PA guys , a lord or Sorcerer, 15-20 cultist or so and a dread aginst 15 DA PA guys (full tac squad and hal tac squad), some kind of leader Chapy or librarian mabye and say 3 bikers. that would be about even. Usally the starter sets give you around 500 points or so.

I don't see anything new on them. As for that video meaning that gw is putting DA first?!? How? They have shown many different "staff" armies in the past and never has that meant it was the forefront army.

The attack bike looks different. I don't know if it's the angle or the relative darkness of the shots; but the gunner looks different.

Anyways, the assumption on Anpu-adom's part is likely that Wade Pryce may have had some new stuff in his Ravenwing force and it was chosen to be shown because of that.

The only thing I don't recognize, outside of the attack bike, is the backpack on the middle front guy. It has a designator/sensor bit which I can't immediately match. The attack bike driver has the Devastator Sergeant pack, so it's not that...

*sigh* This is going to be another wasted day, I think.

The only thing I see different on the attack bike from mine is the box on the fender by the gunner. It is the same model in all other respects.

The thing about the sneak peeks that GW put into things is that you have to know what the product is normally. As I implied in my first post, I'm relatively new to the game and I don't play Dark Angels. I don't know the DA sprues which is why I pointed it out to some experts.

I thought it interesting that a DA are have receiving more promo time in connection with the new paint line. (Which is what I meant by them being 'moved to the fore'.) Both this promo video and the cover and color choices in the new introductory paint set provide food for thought. Add to that the binding of the White Dwarfs and I believe that DA fans have something to be excited about.
