I wonder if they will reintroduce the Ironwing, that would shake things up a bit.

Ironwing would be awesome. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Anybody seen a picture of the January through April spines of White Dwarf stacked together. Anything becoming clearer.

I'm personally hoping the Jan-June pictures show half of Azrael, and the July -December show half of Cypher (or at least a Chaos Marine).

I saw the edge of the latest WD and it looked to a bit more of the plasma gun and some robe. Nothing really super revealing

If they dropped the "gets hot" rule, that could be a neat little piece of unique gear.

Ummm... neither of those pictures have "lower coils".

That's a forward grip on the first pic.

The lower coil you're thinking of is a hand grip. This gun has a second coil underneath, and there's obviously a huge smoking barrel there as well. Honestly, I wouldn't see that gun as a sign of things to come - just another 40k artist having fun and drawing cool astroguns.

Yeah, I just thought it was a new look for the plasma gun myself, not exactly something new.

Yeah I did think it was actually a coil on the first one, but then again it's hard to tell at times

There was a discription of a plasma pistol like this in one of the James Swallow books, I think its called black tide

I just want SS/Chainfist for my Termis....

I'm guessing its just the artist drawing an ambiguously size plasma weapon... representing either an oversized plasma gun or undersized plasma cannon. Many of the illustrators aren't concerned with the consistency of their detail with the physical models.

That aside, a plasma blaster would be pretty awesome.

Ironwing would be an interesting thing to bring back. Even if only to mention it by name, it'd be nice to see it in the fluff especially since it really reflects the vehicle spam common to games in this edition. It has been a bit misrepresented in the past, even I probably contributed to that. Its important to note that the Epic 40k formation called the Ironwing was 6 Tactical squads mounted in rhino or razorbacks, upto 3 predators, and a choice of a mix of 3 Land Raider and Vindicators. A direct translation of that would amount to allowing Predators to being taken as Fast Attack choices in exchange for having to take ground transports for mandatory tactical squads.

Or they can squadron preds and vindicators ...

...Maybe in exchange for losing Fast Attack choices then. Either way anything boardering on mirroring that configuration is going to be the majority of an army. The importance is that there is some sort of balance to the list. Its supposed to be a mechanized heavy infantry list and not an armored company. So it needs that insistence on Tactical squads mounted in vehicles.

Hate to burst anyones bubble....Did anyone else notice the "organic" look to the backpack? The spikey design on chest..... Hmmmm.... Could we be seeing THE FALLEN here?

The "spiky design on chest" is the hilt of a knife. If you look at the contents of the DA sprues available from GW, there is one with that design.

Ummm thats "spikey bit" is a sword on the guys belt. The Organic thing on the backpack is one of those cherub-things holding some sort of blowing cloth... atop a skull with a halo.

Or it's just ornate.

If you look here, the "spiky skull" design is present on Azrael's backpack:


When you look at the artwork, you can see that there is what appears to be a hooded angel with a weapon being swung above the skull...which leads me to think it's just ornate.

No....Not buying cherub thing just yet....backpack above skull looks strange....reminds me of the old rogue trader era renegade packs....

For me its the friggin' robes that give it away as a Dark Angel... are there any other group of marines chaos or otherwise that wear robes?-No.

Bear in mind, when I say "angel wielding a weapon", I'm not meaning the Watchers.

It's not one of the Watchers, as it is waaaaaay too small to be one of them. It's a sculpture of some kind.

It is DA, but loyal or Fallen is the question.....Rumour has it the Fallen WILL be in new codex this Fall/Winter....

Oh, here we are! Look at this!

Why would the Fallen be in the Dark Angels Codex? They were in the previous Chaos Marine Codex, with Cypher.
