I'm loving the new chaos models and the interrogator chaplain. I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the redone chaos range.

Too early for general point costs and/or special rules on the Hellbrute, or is that against the dakka rules?

Still seems a lot to me. Not because you don't get a decent amount of stuff in the box, but as an initial buy-in for new gamers it should be cheaper. £50 is a good threshold for the first game to draw people in.

I think between $50 - $60 would be good. $105 seems like a bit much to me.

Model-wise I really like those chosen, though the setup for the unit is weird. You have 2 regular guys and a bunch of guys with special melee weapons.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't really like the cultists.

I think that's living in a dream world; AoBR was more expensive than that and nowhere near as nice.

The thing about an impulse buy is that it has tobe right now. If Bobby is interested in DA, it isn't an impulse buy and will just happen later.

Well, the other idea is that, if he doesn't know what's coming up, he might look around on the shelves and decide to start a new Necron army, because their new wave was so awesome. Whereas, if he knows that new DA stuff is around the corner, he might hold onto that money and

Ahem. Right.

So... those are awesome, and my Word Bearers are super happy.

Speaking of that, is there any indication of what legion/warband/faction the chaos guys are supposed to belong to? I didn't notice any specific livery on their armor. In fact, I notice a distinct lack of it.

I like the cultists, but I expect that "various leathers" won't translate as well on the table for most people. Hopefully the plastic box of them comes cheaply for a high number as they're great fodder for chaos IG kit bashes.

Anyone else notice that one of the hellbrutes feet has toes?

Looks cool. I love the Hellbrute but I do hope it isn't a replacement for the good old Chaos Dreadnought.

Also, with the end of AOBR, I will no longer see those fugly snapfit Dreadnoughts.

Wowzer those models are INCREDIBLE!!! For me they've Knocked it out the park. Even the subtle varitions of pose in the tactical squad are really nicely done. Day one purchase for me.

The only things i'm not sure about are the Hellbrute's little human head and indeed its name. Also the Chosen Claw dude looks a tiny bit goofy.

Do you really want Chaos Cultist to be the centerpiece look at unit of your army? Then you would've to play some army lets say that is damned to be lost, but we won't open this can of worms.

I would assume you're kidding usually but I am not so sure at the moment. If he/she (probably a he) was smart he would have had a non GW employed female hold it to throw them for a loop.

The tac marines and cultists are pretty good, absolutely wowed by everything else.

100% echo the "glad they're not spiky marines any more"

The characters are really nice all around, and the poses on the termies and bikes are the best they've been, with the possible exception of space hulk.

The real question (for me) is, do I convert the DAs as part of my chapter, or do I bite the bullet and ally them up?

Yes and then those thumbs will be removed so that he can't take blurry pictures any more. Instead they will be more blurry.

From earlier in this thread:

jifel wrote:This isn't worth making it's own thread, but based on the rumors we have, the BRB basically tells us who the Chaos Marines are...

Ok, so rumors say that the box is called Dark Vengeance, last I checked. Check out the top right of pg. 176 in the big Book.

"Dark Vengeance: The Dark Angels 5th Company battles elements of the Crimson Slaughter for control of the Hellfire Stone. The Nephilim sector trembles as the hated foes clash..."

Ok, so if the Dark Vengeance rumor is true, then it seems clear that the "Crimson Slaughter" will be the warband in the new box. After all, Chaos is pretty much guarenteed, but who is still up for guesses.

So, who are these guys? Well, check out p. 299 in the BRB... We get a picture of a basic Bolter Marine from the Crimson Slaughter. Red armor with Gold Trim, nothing extra ordinary amongst the various chaos armies, but hey, its something to off of right?

I didn't make this it's own thread, as I'm sure someone else has seen this. However, I hadnt heard it yet, so I figured I might as well put it up!

If you measure on the screen the height ratio to the base, they definitely seem taller than those tac marines. Also they seem to have completely redesigned backpacks as well. Don't seem fully true-scale, but certainly oversized and easily converted to truescale.

judging from the pic, they measure about 40 mm high to the backpack... which is more than enough to represent an 8 ft tall space marine.
