Wow I've only just found this thread, that is some amazing work. The casting is pristine. Did it take you long to make your vac chamber/pressure caster? Me and my girlfriend had a go at makinga vac chamber but only used 3mm acrylic for the lid and the hoover we used for suction ripped the centre right out the centre of it in less than a second!

That's funny I gravitated to the same red as you, even before I had read your post
And I just have to say, as strange as it sounds, every time I see those feet, they make me smile

Sheep - Thanks!

RSJake - I have an extra shin plate and a head plate I'll be test painting in the 2 reds I'm leaning towards (The insignia red and the character red, with the weird top). You can find a bunch of good airbrush tutorials on youtube as well as in books. Right now I'm just using them to lay down paint, I haven't used them to do any shading or weathering. I'll be experimenting with both of these things throughout the course of this project though.

mindfield - Thanks!

JoeyHeadwounds - You might want to try reading the thread.

MajorTom11 - LOL!

WarMill - Thanks! Our first pressure pot didn't have a lid so we built one out of 2 1.5inch thick sheets of plexiglass (so we could see if the materials bubbled over). After putting power to it and testing it we started talking about different projects and basically not paying attention. We heard a VERY loud crack and looked down. There was a crack forming through both sheets. Needless to say we quickly disconnected the air and went out and purchased another pressure pot with lid. The vacuum chamber was the only part that required any sort of construction and it's just a few blocks of wood on the end of some pipe fittings. How big are the items you're trying to vacuform? I ask because I have a small vacuform setup and I'd be willing to trade some for some laser cut pieces

joshoftheforest - Thanks! It's a nice "not toy like" red. The feet were probably the neatest thing in the build as far as we're concerned. They've got so much detail and came out very nice!

medabee - I'm going to be going for Legio Metalica color scheme

I'm not going have as much hazard striping but there will be some on each of them. I'll be doing Gold edging as well.

Two nights ago I managed to get the toes and crotch painted. I didn't take any pictures of these as my back has not been happy with me spraying for roughly 6 hours a day for 3 days in a row. Between painting these parts and the 2 lots of Grey Knights in my other plog I'm over doing it a bit. I'm also starting a new job on the 25th so that will cut down on the amount of painting I can do. I'm planning on at least having the legs primer finished before then.

3 inches of plexiglass and it cracked? Ouch. Its always fun discovering the real tolerances for materials, I had the joy of discovering just how much force even a 0.5mm cutter generates on a piece of chemiwood in my cnc on a tester for our turret sprue. Seeing the result of 3 evenings of cutting explode into tiny shrapnel is not the most pleasurable experience.
We wont be doing any major casting for a while but if you pm us with the sort of thing you're looking for maybe we could come to an arrangement

WarMill - If you think that's weird we've managed to break 2 cast iron meat grinders just by attaching them to my table saw! We were trying to do that old GW trick of sticking sprue in a meat grinder to make rubble but we never even got to turn it!

I hope you at least stepped down the RPM's.

Man these are looking better every time I peek at this thread! You have put some serious detail into these, I've seen so many titan projects where there is just huge expanses of blank space and it is really a joy to see the tiny little details all over these beauties!

It's making me yearn for my own super-heavy, but seeing as I don't yet posess even a fully painted 1500pts force, I don't think it's going to happen for a while

Btw, is your brand of paint seriously called 'Mr Colour', that made me chuckle for a good few minutes

I tried the meat grinder trick, even went to some old antique places to see if I could find something that would work. Ended up going through two coffee grinders before I finally just bought a 100 blender. That thing turns sprues into rubble in seconds.

Titans still looking awesome by the way.

Incredible casting technique. Admittedly, I have to be quick today, so, to my shame, can't read through the entire thread for any possible insights on it, but your work is really impressive. Can't wait to see the end result.

Next up is a double check of all the sets and then touch ups if needed!
This will all probably have to wait till Friday though as my new job has me going to bed earlier and arriving home later. I get around 4 hours each night before I've got to go to bed! Tonight that was taken up with some deals in the swap shop and spraying the last legs here. Tomorrow... well probably more grey knight experimentation! Check my other thread for that info.
