Finished both monolith's today *and* some extras. Woot! Comfortably ahead of schedule now.

Sure, I'll take a pic of what I've gotten re-done. Long way to go yet but I'm really happy with things so far.

Hey Gits (mind if I call you that?), just a question: Would veteran Mantis warriors wear robes?

Well, this is just my opinion here... I don't think that as a matter of standard battle dress, they would wear robes... not really very insectoid if you get my drift. However I could easily see a marine with some special position or ceremonial role having some kind of battle robes. They'd really make him stand out and help to emphasize his special status.

Thanks, Gits. My brother insists that Mantis warriors look like robed Dark Angels. I showed him pics, but he meant the Veterans. So, I thought I would ask the expert.

Robes are cool, but they are definitely NOT stealthy... and the mantis warriors are a stealth chapter.

It's very frustrating that as I get work done I can't post pics or even talk about most of it (ruins the surprise). Expect a major picture dump on Christmas.

A Merry Gitsmas indeed.

That's IF I can get my stupid internet to work well enough... right now my internet connection is so tenuous most web pages don't even load correctly, and there's no way I can actually get a picture into the gallery.

I must admit to being almost giddy at the amount of progress I've made already... getting both monolith's done in a long weekend was unexpected and they turned out far better than I'd hoped. The other projects are either going faster than I'd anticipated or at the least, no slower... which opens up the possibility of getting even more things done than I'd originally planned. More stuff done means the kids have more options to field and hopefully will have more fun playing. All good!

I'll probably be painting some Mantis Warriors now, to.
My local GW is having a Badab War themed challenge to paint an army in 3 months... and win a few battles with them...

Cool, but I'd be happier about them if the roundels were actually ... well... round.

Dear Mr Gitsplitta,

would I be allowed to post a shameless plug to my *new* Badab blog in your immaculate Mantis Warrior blog?

I actually prefer my own hand-painted Lamenters shoulder pads to those ones. I don't like the way the squares get pinched at the top.

The other items at that site, however, are truly awesome.

Infact, I'd go so far as to say I love the other Eldar items there.

Hey GIts! I got around to testing Instant Mold... It's pretty easy to use, but you need to be patient with the epoxy you place into it (I messed up my first two castings due to impatience. Works well with JB Weld KwikPlastik and Greenstuff I'll get some pictures up when I can.
