OK, due to page roll-over I can't see what SL wrote...

Lessons learned:

- neither SL or I can roll dice to save our souls
- Imotekh and perpetual night fight kicked our *ss, lightning... not so much
- We weren't playing Blood Angels, we were playing vanilla marines AS Blood angels. I'm stuck with that to some extent... but since SL has a genuine BA army, he's not. Even so, I have been able to BA-ify my army a bit more with this last re-write to take better advantage of the inherent BA rules & special abilities. This last list, while sharing many elements with the last... will play very differently.

I will endeavor to do up the last two as regular bat-reps. If I don't think they're good enough to post as independent reports, I'll just post them here.

Don't worry about SL - just disparaging comments really... (if you click on the previous page and scroll to the bottom you can see it, regardless of page rollover gremlins)

You realise that army choice doesn't affect dice rolling ability right?

Looking forward to whatever you manage to put up as always

Sorry Haz, I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to. Close-ups of what exactly?

OH, they aren't really Death Watch, otherwise they'd be black with their own chapter's pads. They are in effect... Inquisitional supplementary troops. Just normal tactical marines from a wide variety of chapters, sent to help the Mantis Warriors through this difficult period in the chapter's history while they rebuild. (read as "spy")

I want to wait until the second squad is filled, then I'll take another pic.

A little less " disparaging " then...

Night fighting sucks = 8 out of 9 turns were night fighting. Need to be more aggressive or get searchlights. NF virtually eliminates our long range firepower we were counting on it to whittle the enemy down.

and..let me just scatter my drop pods off the table for a easy win! = GK strike squads effectively made us ( by the ability and the spacing) risk dropping either farther away ( making them ineffective) or take a risk to get them into combat ( when limited options are presented - closer to table edge). Exposing your assault squads to a round(s) to shooting just to get stuck in when you have to muck across the field.

Mrs. Gits made an amazing breakfast and for dinner we ate Sushi. All good!

I thought search lights came standard on SM vehicles? Anyways, the pain is that the vehicle still has to "spot" the target inorder to hit it with a search light.

Searchlights come standard on Vanilla vehicles... Many of the Blood Angels vehicles do not come with searchlights, and you must spend 1 point to put them on the vehicle... Dumb I know...

Not BA vehicles, you have to pay 1 pt for it (and you wouldn't believe how that one point can screw up a list). Yes, you're right... but you only have to see it once to light it up, then anything in range can shoot it. Granted the vehicle doing the lighting is lit up as well, so you need to make sure it's the trade you want to make.

Good thing for an empty rhino to do.

Interesting. They come standard on SW vehicles as well.

Yep, though I found it amusing at the GBU when I faced an IG parking lot of 12 vehicles in DOW and not a single one could "spot" me to throw a search light onto.

Actually, I got it - and then promptly forgot to surround "disparaging" with quotes, asterii, or some other way resulting in my humour not translating well either

That's an old pic bigfish. Will do a new one for them soon. Really wish I had the time to get their rhinos done properly... it's what will tie the squad together.

No posts in two days... that's got to be some kind of record!

I have been working on my figures though sparingly... had to work over the weekend & it's Pinewood Derby time for the cub scouts. My wife invited the entire pack over to our place on Saturday to work on their cars for next weekend (this on top of my working Friday until 10 PM & all day Sunday). I spent a good chunk of the day doing the heavy machinery work on a bunch of cars and the rest trying to teach everyone how to work on their wheels and axles. I did end up painting a car for my youngest's best bud. He's a brand new scout and not getting a lot of help from his folks. I'd have rather had him do it himself of course, but we simply ran out of time and there was no way to send it home with him, have him finish painting it & then get it back to us to finish building it (adding weight) before next weekend. He did a lot of the early work by himself & designed it, so it's definitely his car... we just got caught against a hard deadline. So... wanting to make it something special as his first car... I had him tell me how he wanted it painted & then I add-libbed a bit. TGFTA (Thank God for the Airbrush) My little one now wants HIS car airbrushed as well... but he gets to do that himself!

Back OT, I should finish up the yellow on the marines tonight which should be worthy of a pic. I'm a bit worried that I'm not making much progress, but I guess I have plenty of time if I stick to it. Most of the projects from here on out should be pretty fun so that should keep me going. I may split up painting the second assault squad into chunks so it doesn't get quite so boring. The latest version of my Adepticon build is a lot more interesting P&M wise than the original one was... I'm all for that. I must admit that having to re-base most of the squad really sucked a lot of the enthusiasm out of me.

How about the rest of you? Anything cool you're working on or looking forward to?

Gits

you may be on the right track! lol he may be opinionated but i'm still guessing their may be a softy under there somewhere? I mean, the sallies are a very honorable chapter who always watch out for the people right! so he can't be all bad if he chose them? and he definitely can't be too grumpy if he asked me to paint them! (as suprised as I was!)

Working on getting completely distracted from painting! I also need to start thinking about getting my wee fella into cub scouts - our local pack is so competitive that apparently we need to get in a year early! Also need to start on my death cult...

You know all about my Chaos blog, but what you don't know about yet is the Sisters Of Battle that are on route via the post office. Estimated painting date summer 2013!!! I'm a bit ahead of myself with these ladies but I'd rather get metal when I have the chance (from ebay) than the possibility of failcast.

I've read the WD codex and they look quite fun to play.
