UK

Welcome all to the 78th round of the Dakka Painting challenge. For the unfamiliar, this is a friendly painting competition open to members of all skill levels and experience, whether your entry is your first or you thousand-and-first time painting miniatures. Each month, finished entries are collected into a thread where the community can vote on their favourite pieces, and those votes go towards an annual overall League that runs for 12 rounds, ending in February next year.

This month, the theme is Rebel Scum. Bring out your rebellious heroes, devious brigands and covert insurgents that fight from the shadows to see a great power brought low from within. Ever the underdogs, these individuals don't fight fair, and often refuse to engage in pitched battle, so assassins, guerillas and saboteurs fit the bill too.

How To Enter

- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 6 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 5 images and one separate image would count as your 6 picture allowance.

So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month! Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.

These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.

How Long Do I Have?
This challenge begins 1st of August and will end at midnight UK time on the 31st August. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.

Omg I am hyped to see this finished!!!

(star wars nerd here)

I'll either paint Revan or Korra for this months. Gonna post pics of them later for proof.

(Edit) uploading both pics as proof and I'm just gonna have fun painting them and figure out the logistics of which is cooler afterwards.

I cannot believe you pinched my idea for the challenge again...

OK Dakkites, should I "Star Trek II" it?

RYBROOOOOOOOK!

Or should I "How I Met Your Mother"?

Challenge Accepted!

Or is this all a fake rivalry that the two of us have cooked up to get your attention?

Cheers,

I'm actually considering entering some Mortifiers from my Sisters of Battle army, as I've now switched over to that army as far as tournament prep goes. Two of them are currently assembled, the others are still on sprues, so hopefully I can get a window in the weather to prime them. No proof yet as I'm still technically undecided.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

@Freya - damnit… expectation… need to manage that

I’m off for a couple of weeks, but I’ll have some time when I’m sill off and the kids are in school, so I should be able to get a decent amount of time on it. Going to see if I can transpose the airbrush learning I did on the Kodiak from a few months back, just with different colours.

@CB - I’m going to go with you and Rybrook being the same person. I don’t think anyone here has ever seen you two in a room together

Not quite rebels, but definitely the underdogs of the wasteland, I'm painting a series of survivors from Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.

Wait, what?

Everyone can see we are different people, he has a bionic eye and I have my floppy hat.

Did not make any progress as I had to paint a bedroom and played two games of 40K.

So two of the stealers basically done, just need to be based. Still turning over the magus trying to figure out a paint scheme for him. Might go with beige pants and purple armor to tie him in with the swarm. Need to work some red in somewhere.
