That's what I was going to do, but then Thing 1 convinced me to try a green tide. Haven't done one of those in a long while. Came up with 137 models in 1250 pts... including 2 good batches of lootas, some FA, etc. It's a shooting gallery of course... but can you shoot enough of it to stop it before the green tide "comes in".

I wouldn't try this in a larger battle, but at this size moving all those figures is still manageable.

137? Wow . I know I ended up playing with 107 nids last night, and that took forever to manage.

Do you know how many rounds?
How much time per round?

I just found out that the tourny I'm planning for in September is 1250 points. 3 rounds, but each round is only 1 hr 15 min. I don't think I'll want to be pushing around 137 models with a game that short.

I'll be playing Orks as well, haven't decided what to bring yet. I may start a thread in the 40K Army Lists forum tonight to get some feedback. I think I need to minimize the number of models I have to move and maximize the distance covered per round if I hope to get any more than 3 rounds done.

Well, my rolls were not very hot all game (except when I stole initiative) and his were very good. Against 5 palidins and a Libby (who were paradoxed BTW), I only got 4 rends with 10 genestealers and 7 ygmarls (statistically I should have recieved 7) and he made 50% of the saves. Against a DK, 10 stealers only managed 2 rends (rather than 3) and he made both saves.

I started getting aggrivated at the very end when he succeeded on 6 armour saves on a GK who after 3 assault phases had 1 wound left. I let slip "oh, feth you" . When I saw his face, I had to quickly clarify: "Not you man, not you ...it is these damn dice". Not my best moment by any means.

I think the closest I can come to that type of unit is a heavy squad of Cybork Nobz in a Battlewagon with a DeffRolla. That was my plan when I thought the game would be 1750 points, but at 1250, I'm not sure if the 500 points are worth it.

I'll still need some basic squad to hold objectives, etc.

Time to start a thread in the 40K Lists forum I think.

I didn't mean to sidetrack this thread with my own problems, just meant that I would appreciate any feedback over on my new thread all the same.

Hey guys! Back from the war.

First off I want to state that my opponent Kyle was an amazing guy... kept his humor and a smile throughout what must have been a long night. I ended up taking a battle wagon rush list. Pretty nasty at 1250 with 4 wagons vs. his footdar. He really only made one tactical mistake... deploying too far forward making it easier for my wagons and their occupants to do their jobs. After that he played very gutsy... but in essence, he had two shooting phases to stop me or it was over. He got unlucky with his dice rolls & didn't stop me. That was pretty much it. I also rolled out-of-my-mind all night... which didn't help.

Kyle and I both took pics so I'll do a full bat rep once those are sorted.

I'm sorry there's hasn't been any updates guys. Been doing other, mundane things that need doing (yard work). Made a little progress on my skin wolf & have been working on a bat rep from a game last Friday (orks v. eldar) that should go up some time today. The next step on the LoTD is not very interesting. Under normal circumstances it wouldn't be worth a pic... but perhaps since my updates are so few and far between I'll post it when I'm done.
