It always looked to me like you were riding face-first into battle in one of those. Your battlecry might as well be, "Look at me! I've got great big scary weapons and bugger-all for protection! Shoooooooot meeeeeee!"

Unless you think PA or TA lacks protection.

I don't think it's going to be a matter of the GK stripping butt naked and piloting the dreadknight. It's hard enough to kill them with armour on let alone in the middle of a massive exoskeleton.

I'm really hoping the Dreadknight is a terrible, terrible joke.

I can't understand for the life of me why Terminator Armour would be considered "a good idea" to plant someone inside something similar to a Warwalker.

Now, what I have to wonder is maybe they give us rules for a Terminator grade individual who was ensconced into a Dreadnought.

I don'y get it either:
If you want GK to have some shock troops to fight off daemons, being the same size, give us a dreadnought.

The Dreadknight sounds like rubbish to me. However...maybe one day GW will up the size of SM models to be more to scale with the fluff. Of course, I never expect to see that...ever.

I finally go to see the Stormraven and Librarian Dred in person today. The Raven is of course amazing but I'm really underwelmed where the Librarian dred is conscerned. I'm all for the GK getting a plastic (non Forgeworld) dred, but I would hope it would at least be well designed.

maybe the dreadknight is simply the name of a GK-specific dread that isn't much different from the regular flavors, ala the naming of blood angel DCCW as blood something or other (can't recall the name right now) but operating the same as normal DCCWs.

It'd be easier, cheaper, and smarter for GW to *shrink* the size of IG infantry models by 15% to 20%. Instead of having Guardsmen who stand 6' 6", have them stand 5' 6". By virtue of having smaller regular humans, everything else is proportionally bigger. And de-"Heroic" them to make them scrawnier, so Orks & Marines look obviously bulker by comparison.

"Blood Fist."

Say it again.

"Blood Fist."

If the coming "DreadKnight" is nothing more than a bog-standard SM Dreadnought with a "Knight" name tacked on, I'll be ecstatic over yet another example of GW's pure laziness and lack of imagination in their development team.

To be fair, we still don't know if "Dreadknight" is the actual name. We just keep getting people saying it as a descriptive measure.

Are paladins still circulating rumors, or are they set-in-stone? I can't remember, but aren't they supposedly a squad upgrade?

And, to JohnHwangDD, GW's laziness should never surprise you, nor should their occasional stupidity. What SHOULD surprise you, however, is yet to be determined...

Other Dreadnaughts should just go somewhere and be a toaster.

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

Mostly. It seems silly to have all that structure and armor but leave the pilot completely out in the open. Reminds me of the old metal Eldar walker...the one with the pilot hanging off the front with 0 protection.

I will say I am looking forward to seeing what they put out, but at the same time Im kinda worried since theres a great opportunity to do something really dumb. Either way it will likely be plastic, which means even if the finished product sucks there will be bits a plenty for conversions.

This would not shock me at all. Rebox some of the parts from the exosting dread kits, throw in a couple GK specific parts, then make like its some great new thing.

Im giving even odds on reboxed dread vs something new and equally dumb.

Meh. Im kinda getting tired of GW tacking a ton of scrolls and skulls to everything. It doesnt make for a cool model. It makes for a cluttered model. Its a cheap way of getting around actually sculpting something detailed and intricate.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

^^ it is supposed to be so a terminator GK can fight a greater demon. Or even a skirmish between a bunch of greater demons against a bunch of GK.

nvm I see someone already brought it up.

Honestly I think it is cool and a new canon/ tech-priest/ inquisition sort of thing to add.

If it has an AV, a squad of GKTs would have better odds against a MC. That bonus d6 is brutal.

The whole point of GK is that no matter how huge the monstrosity, it is brought down by one human with the power of faith and skill. Angron was banished by one dude. Why would the GK need a bigger physical machine to fight daemons?

You know, I can almost see a "Dreadknight" working in the following circumstance.

It's not really a "Terminator inside", but it amounts to a psychically driven construct that has a Terminator controlling it from the outside. Think "warjack".

^^ it is supposed to be so a terminator GK can fight a greater demon. Or even a skirmish between a bunch of greater demons against a bunch of GK.

A few stormshield and hammer terminators do that job far better then one of them suicide cans...I mean dreadnoughts.

Pretty ridiculous to even consider a dread, what can it do besides get killed by the first missile launcher that points at it or a deamon prince in cc.
Always pissed me of that GK dreads are just like any other dreads out there, completely and utterly worthless vs anything being even close to monstrous in cc.

...but a normal marine in a termie armour does it far better. Logic and GW, my oh my.

On another thought, the rumored psychic powers for knight squads, how ill they work with the force weapon ability.
I cant see a squad of PAGKs use a psychic power and in the same turn use that force weapon to instant kill something.
Same goes with that gate power if it will be in the codex, no way a squad can gate and also use another psychic power.

I bet those rumored super terminators will be the only unit apart from some HQ selection, that will count as master psychers and be allowed to use two powers a turn.

Because it took 100 dudes. It was just one dude who landed the final blow.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.
