Mostly, on my phone.

Love this chap. The subtle work that you've got going on is great, and thumb's looking less huge too - did you trim it?

Yes, I'd forgotten that I'd actually trimmed it a long while ago. Probably after the first time I posted the build. Glad you like him graven, hope I can keep him interesting for you.

Not intending to gloat, more push you in doing stuff you`re not that comfortable doing hobbywise Mainly because you embrace challenges paint-wise not converting/scratchbuilding. I think you need to do more of the last to really improve to the next level

Now im not intending to answer for Gitsplitta of course but...

Have you seen/read some of Gits' other blogs? Especially his Ork blog (let alone this one!)? He does loads of conversions/scratchbuilding throught the course of all of the blogs! Pretty much every model that is in any of the blogs is converted in one way or another, whether it be a bits build, or a simple gun swap, the beauty of Gits' figures is that no 2 are alike and they all have their own story and character....

Yes, his painting is ridiculously good, and appears to be the thing that Gits focuses on most, but actually its the whole package, from getting the correct parts, to making them work together organically, to the build, to the the paint, and finally the basing to tie it all in together, Gits brings every little bit of skill and imagination to his work, thats why i think it has such a following...

just wanted to put my opinion of how i see Gits' modelling onto paper in response,

Hey guys! Sorry, been in a professional meeting all day so I haven't been able to answer.

@Reiko: Thanks for speaking up for me man, I really do appreciate it. Red's a good egg & he and I have exchanged many PMs. He's just gloating because he pushed me to do something I'd rather not have (scratch-building vehicles, vehicle bits and/or buildings is NOT my forte'). He was just trying to be encouraging as well as pushing me a bit, both of which are very much appreciated & valuable (as is your continued support). I'm proud that neither of you escalated this into an actual conflict. Shows that you're both men of good character. Believe me... I've seen lesser things blown out of all proportion on the internet before.

The funny part is that when I finally looked at the baggie of Typhoon conversion bits... there were extra doors in there! LOL! All that work & all I had to do was open the stupid bits baggie!

Anyway... both the LS builds are complete save for figuring out how to attach the missile pods. I have the bits but no instructions and they don't really seem to fit neatly anywhere... so I'll have to poke around the gallery and see what I can find. Once that's done I'll post a pic and the painting can commence.

Typhoon builds are done. Boy what a PITA.

No problem my friend, felt a bit like i was overstepping my bounds so to speak, but i had to speak up and give my opinion...dont get me wrong, Red seems like a lovely bloke, and im not new to pushing you to do new things (well, sort of ), so i can understand that.
Thanks, its very easy to support you Gits when you you are churning out such fantastic work!
Agreed, theres nothing wrong with a freindly disagreement but im glad it didnt escalate at all, Red Skullz, good on you

Looking good so far Gits.

How did you attach the gunner's hands to the gun in the end?

I didn't. They're just in areas that look right. On the tabletop you can't see that they aren't attached.

There's magnets on the bottom for the additional gun mount which I may or may not do before painting.

Do before painting.. No shortcuts. You can paint the additional bottom mounted guns later.

@Rev Reiko: the same mate

Gits, those two look totally awesome so far. Firepower ftw and all that What will you do with the bases? Personally I hope you ditch the transluscent ones and replace them with normal 60mm round bases so you can do your wonderfull bases. Will we see some water effects on them since it`s obviously room for more there?
But I like that you`ve used two different lenghts on the flight stems, gives a dynamic look together.

ah ha, I see. tabletop makes more sense than laptop. That confused me for a bit.

But the gunner's are still going to be able to move with the traversing guns though.

Look forward to paint.

Underslung mounts done. Also magnetized but I don't have any other guns at the moment. The only guns I have left are set aside for my LS Storms. Have to go visit the bits merchants!

@Snrub: I owe it all to the kindness and brains of Yellowbeard. See below.

Yellowbeard wrote:Yes, that's right, Art. The other 2 from the Valk are intended for the door gunners. I could send you some of the mounting gear for them, if you like:

You could probably use the round piece to mount them underneath the hull. Send me your address and I'll send them to you in a day or two.

@graven: Two plastic multi-meltas. I've got two spare terminator heavy flamers that I think I can readily convert to this purpose. I would ultimately like to make one more of these so I'd have a complete set of 3 configurable land speeders (which would require another Valk mount & another set of guns), but for the time being... finishing up these two would be a sizable accomplishment.

Oh wow. What an ingenious use of the valks door weapons. Are the hbs magnetized to the mounts or the mounts magnetized to the speeder?

The guns are magnetized to the mounts. The mounts started being magnetized to the hull so they could swivel... but the whole thing just looked too bulky and ungainly, so I ended up just gluing the gun mounts to the hull.

Briancj wrote:I can probably dig up actual Land Speeder MMs from my bitz box, if no-one else has them.

Thanks Brian, let me know if I can do anything for you in return. If you might need them though... hold on to them. I can always snag them off e-bay.

Couldn't you have gotten by by glueing a thin steel plate to the bottom of the gun mount. I know some of my tau weopons utilize that. It would have been nice being able to swap the gun mount out as it won't fit an assault cannon if one is needed later.

Didn't think of that. Not sure where I'd have gotten a thin steel plate. In any case I'm pretty confident I can make whatever conversions that are necessary to accommodate the mount.

I use a bit of music wire embedded in the part. Works great for Rhino doors (its what I did to WMs Razorback)

In the past Ive used parts of old cookie tins. snipped them up with wire cutters/tin snips, and stuck them opposite of a magnet.
