Well painted boss, even though a little hard to fully appreciate with the "white noise". The patina looks especially promising.

It was great fun.... 9 players, no written stats or points...just leaders and gangers WYSIWYG, , 3-4 characters each. Even being wiped out in turn three was hilarious because I have never seen Neil roll so many sixes before.

Sounds terrific, I envy you guys!

Baiyuan - Cheers bud. I will get some better pictures tomorrow night.....think I worked out what I did wrong. The game was terrific, I'm really lucky to have met my gaming group.

Yggdrasil - Yeah 9 players, should have been 10 but alas Bruticus couldn't make it. Two sides, though tbh you can never really trust your comrades. I am sure there will be pics.....Neil took about 500 of them. It was an ace day and went on into the night.....I got to play Pop Up Pirate with JRN at about midnight in a bar!

Chelnov - Kari's gang were awesome....but hopefully Mikko will share some pictures of his gang....they are more awesome because of what he made! I hope there will be some pics soon.

Yggdrasil - Any pictures?...211 of them on Neil's blog http://opusmaius.blogspot.co.uk/. I am totally blown away with Neil style of battle report and it is worth a read as well as a look.

Hi all

I've been inspired by Grag and William over at Pontifex or here on dakka, if you prefer, to finish another scavvy. So instead of painting a big bloody slug today I knocked out Fink, the winged mutant.

Massively happy with the dark skin. I wanted him to be reminiscent of a bat. I imagine the problem I'll have is he'll be very well camouflaged on the battlefield I'll forget to use him.

I also tried to get some better shots of the boss...still not quite right but better

Standard awesomeness once again. Loving the base work. I think the photos show them off really well tbh.

I love how the boss has all the little adornments from other gangs amongst his strange trinkets.

Totally getting a look at that battle report later on, but for now X-Men ahoy!

Yay! ...and there was much rejoicing in the land, for the scavvies had returned.....

Much as I want to see your nurgleslugfest done, I am pleased to see you come back here first

Fink looks great, nice skin tones and gorgeous base

What are you not happy with in regards to the boss pics...colour not quite matching RL, or just not feeling it's getting the character across? Looks Ab Fab to me.

Fink's dark skin is gritty and wonderful, and of course he is a great build/conversion - suitably aggressive and brutal without being OTT.

Lovely as always.

The Skavvy boss looks even better with the new pics - I still wonder how you manage to paint checkers that small!!!

Yggdrasil - Cheers man. The little goblin was just to make a winged mini mutant perched on a lump of scrap.

MoD - I'm afraid that Neil has removed his blogger again so the battle report is in the aether. Oh I'm really looking forward to seeing the new x-men.

monkeytroll - I needed a break from the slug. Its so freaking big. The slug is actually done for the most part and I'm about to start working on the champion....in the same style as the back of Fink's base. They say a change is as good as a rest.

Regarding the bosses photograph - I love the model and it was worth the wait to make him but I'm just not getting the vibe from the picture that I get from the model. I think it might be zoomed in too much...I prefer the image when I set my browser to about 70%.

Lamby - I'm glad he looks aggressive. I see him sitting on his perch screeching. The checkers - a tiny brush and the determination to have a shoulder pad taken as a trophy from Kari's Brat gang. Plus taking a whole lot of time with it and going back and forth with both colours until it was just about right. Don't ask me how Kari actually paints really neat and accurate checkers though....I think he's a witch!

Cheers Neil. Cracking wee read that. Absolutely beautiful gangs... I say beautiful but I actually mean revolting in most cases, but in the best possible sense!

Hope you guys are going to be that camera happy for your RoC game if that's still going to be a thing.

Is it weird to say I like the basing colours the most about these?

I guess the winged mutant got the crackle, wash and pigment treatment for the raised back part of his base? Perhaps a pinch of Tamiya Clear on there too?

The skinhead shaved-to-the-skull hair on the leader is another great touch, as is the cartoon heart on his chestplate.

Neil - So three mutants down seventeen to go! Cheers mate. Thanks for the resurrection of opus.

Mister F - The chest on the leader needed something....it was either a heart or a smiley face. The base was done like this...as I answered on Eastern Fringe:

The weathering on the base was done using Scorched Brown basecoat, Rust Pigments. Sealed. Covered in Tim Holtz Distress Crackle paint - Old Paper leaving bits of the base showing through. Washed it with Nuln Oil and some Windsor and Newton Orange as looked right. Then I look a modelling knife and chipped further bits off. Then added more weathering pigments until it looked right.

Ah the W&N inks strike again!

I never would of thought it was orange ink there, but I can see it now you've described it, thanks for that by the way.

The one W&N ink I own (purple / magenta) is fast becoming a favourite of mine, must get some more soon.

Another question if I may, what sealant / varnish do you use? My current GW one is giving me less than desirable effects!
