It does look very good, but i feel like it is kinda empty.. Like it needs more armor around the neck area or something. As it is and well done! But i see room for more.

Thanks for the feedback guys I do appreciate it, and I do agree, his legs in particular are a bit weedy and unprotected.... But unfortunately given my time frame I wasn't able to do anything else... I just had barely enough time to finish painting him... That's not to say I won't revisit it later though.... But I've got a whole lot more crap to do for the time being!

It's been a wee bit since I've been able to get on here, what with the holidays and all, so with that I have an update a lot of catching up to do!

@panda and monkeytroll: I was actually planning on it being a sort of rocket artillery cannon, which is basically just a straight tube to direct the rocket..So I wasn't really planning on elongating it. That is a good point though, it probably would look better, and I am now rethinking whether or not I want to.

Though then again I am also very lazy too.... So I still might not

And now as for the update itself:

Being that it's kinda a rocket-ey artillery kannon-ey thingy I think it could easily be played as either a kannon or a lobba. Although so far I've never actually bothered trying out proxying lobbas in-game.

I'm building it in pieces so that I can try my hand at casting it, it'll be a hell of a lot easier than building 3 from the ground-up. So none of the pics have it fully together, but this first pic will give you an idea of what it'll look like when it's complete.

On the far left is a rocket for a grot crewman to hold, the middle plate is what the barrels all rest on, the other middle is a very rudimentary sight retical for them to aim with, and far right is the plate that will go at the very rear of the kannon, on the ground

I was considering doing something similar - rocket artillery inspired by the WW2 German Nebelwerfer. My thought was that with a properly designed mounting for the rockets, the same models could either could either point their rockets horizontally (to count as a kannon) or up (to count as a lobba).

But I should really hunt out a good source of rockets before I start cutting plasticard. Some grots with appropriate arms to hold/carry a rocket would also be good - GW's selection of grot artillery crew is rather lacking :(

Thanks broos! And yeah that's what I'm hopefully trying to pull off with this rocket artillery. This pretty much does look like a nebelwerfer, even though the grots manning it are going to be soviet themed....they looted it...

So unfortunately I've been incredibly busy lately.... I haven't even been able to update my blog! Between the cold weather and extreme busyness I haven't been able to even finish casting the damn kannon.

LUCKILY I have been finding time here and there to build my next project though....and its almost done now...

Introducing me own take on da warkopta:

So obviously the front rotor-holdey-thingy bit will be standing upright on the kopta, I just can't secure it until after I cast it.

All that's left are the rotors and some sculpting and then I think I'm good to cast!

I'm scratchbuilding this sucka in its entirety, so the plan is to cast it like 6-8 times and use them as trucks during friendly games for a themed apocalypse now "flight of the orkyries" army. And during apocalypse games they would be used as the actual warkoptas formation. Otherwise warkoptas seem kinda sucky for their points.

And since its all my own scratchbuild I might maybe even sell em....though my aspirations are usually much higher than the final product...



Also, what can you do with TWO HUNDRED 3x1mm magnets...?



I'll let you know when I figure it out, but I have a feeling it's going to have something to do with a lot more DAKKA

For the pilot, I'm going to use warbikers legs and arms, along with the orc pilot bodies and heads from kromlech, and they look great!


Just gotta greenstuff the details to the cockpit and landing gear, build the rotors and dakkagun, and rivet the crap out of it. Then it's off!

Hey Gang,

Well I have bad news and good news.

The bad news is, the casting pretty much failed, at least for now while it's still cold outside and I don't have a respirator for dealing with resin. When it warms up again *AND* I get a respirator, I'll give it another go.

That being said, I do have the original kopta, but I didn't finish painting it yet so I won't bother posting it.



The casting failure had an unforeseen side effect though...



My self esteem completely plummeted, I was in a horrible depression... I completely stopped doing all of my projects, none of it was fun anymore...




Everything sucked. Nothing made sense anymore, HOW COULD IT HAVE FAILED?!


In the darkest hour of my depression.... When it truly seemed like all was lost....


I started getting angry.... REALLY ING ANGRY




Yes, he is flipping everyone off, and yes, there is a flaming fist, also flipping everyone off, launching from his arm.

His name is PUNCH and He'll be my librarian.

Luckily there was no depression, I just got busy, so I haven't been able to work on much lately, which is why I haven't posted anything in a while... BUT in my spare time I lurked around and got hung up on angry marines. So I'm going to give this a go for a little while, and get back to me orksies later.

I'm actually pretty angry about the way the wash is sticking to all of the armor (not in a good way). It's never looked so crappy before. Though then again, I was painting orks before... I'll have to figure something out to make it look better. I probably shouldn't have painted the most important model first....
