Well, it does put to bed the idea that the Hellbrute would be a MC instead of a vehicle.

Also, the DA Libby is Ld10. It confirms the guard, but a 6+ for the cultists as well.

Or just:

- use it as designed, without points values.
- use it with existing codexes.

This isn't rocket surgery folks. How many starter sets had points in the past?

AoBR had squad totals IIRC. It also had army totals in the back.

Ooh, good to know. I've never actually bought a starter set. (Well, maybe 3rd, I can't remember.)

One thing I noticed is that the Chaplain basically gives his squad Preferred Enemy: Chaos Space Marines.

Really shame GW went so far with iconography and shoulder markings. I guess the Dark Angels figures will be sold for very cheap on ebay... Good news for Dark Angels players, bad news for the rest. Dark Angels might become a very budget-friendly army, though.

It's a pity the original rumors did not prove true (eg. specific sets for Chaos and Dark Angels).

No special rules

Assault on Black Reach
No combat Tactics
No Combat Squads
No And the Shall No Know Fear

The Helbrute statline looks basically identical to a dread. Does this mean that they are replacing dreads or that the two units will be distinguished in some way which isn't obvious from these rules?

Depends on the Codex. If it is simply the next UeberCodex ala Grey Knights then people will be purchasing them for the near future, or until the next UeberCodex comes out.

Love the DVD player screen on the handlebars. The holstered, UNLOADED bolt pistol is fun, but at least he is carrying a mag on his belt. "Let's see, where do I park this chainsword while I unstrap and pull out the bolt pistol with my right hand and unstrap and pull out the magazine with my left hand and then use both hands to insert the mag into the bolt pistol while driving off road." Do bikes have Machine Spirits?

I guess he could reach back with his right hand and grab the mag over rear wheel, transfer it to his left hand and then pull out the pistol with his right hand...

Looks like the backpack could easily be modified to the pre-heresy Death guard symbol with the removal of a few spikes.

Holster is pretty small for a plasma pistol. Loking at the Dark Angel roster from the box set the RW sergeant does not even have a pistol....

I have three spare "cool" helmets from my Venerable Dreadnought that I just base coated that I'm very pleased I'll be able to swap the sergeant's heads out for. Give one more marine with a standard head a cooler look too.

You're probably right about this.

But there are some DA players who may have some problems with the Tactical Squads coming out of DV. Don't know why, but the current plastic sprues for the DA stuff never had a good shouldpad for the winged sword. They had a bunch of other spiffy shouldpads, but you're basic winged sword shouldpad, like on these new DV Tactical Marines they never made. For me at least it kind of makes me want to go with what I've got in either form 1. Don't use the DA Tacts, because their shoulder markings don't match what I've got. or 2. Saw up the DV Tacts and use the shoulders from the previous sets I've been using.

The tactical arrows on the left shoulder is just more of the same for me. Damn me for liking being truly anal about uniformity. Damn them for not making decent plastics of the basics. Cause their metal pads are too small when compared to their plastic ones....detail sucks on the metals too.

Besides my bitch about the Tacts, their bikers, termies and characters are all gonna get assimilated into my army, and I thank GW for making a top notch product.

And it broke my heart to see that chaplain was a plastic.....I mean, it took so much to produce that sprue, and it's got an expensive metal mold that'll never ever go bad.....why the limited run on it? I call shennanigans. Putting together a black ops team to raid the facility and steal those metal plates!!!

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

They wont bring him back later on though, kind of defeats the object of the set being limited edition.

Much like you wont see a new wave of space hulk sets released.

Either way, the chappy is being hacked up and made into a dark apostle and the 2nd one is being added to my collection of chappys

Psst. Shotgun's are S4 for Marines. The Chaos guys have little remorse about giving the Cultists hand-me-downs. Imperials are afraid it will offend the machine spirit.

It will most likely come down to special rules in the codex.

Not entirely. It most certainly was true previously, but the costs of plastic moulding have been coming down. But it's also likely that GW have simply worked the cost of that single, small sprue into the margin of the starter set as a whole. They know that they'll sell all of the limited edition sets, so they just need to produce however many it takes to pay for that mould.

Never stopped them in the past when they put the metal LEs for sale multiple times.

Now that I see his sprue, I wish I could get a hold of a second one just for the head and crozius arm.

I own a few of GW's "Limited Edtiion" models that became slightly less limited when GW decided to sell them again, in limited quantities through GW direct at events, etc...

That being said:
1.) It might have been profitable to have a small 1 figure steel mold cut to ensure they sold a ton of Starters through GW direct at full retail, instead of wholesale to distributors.
2.) They might be limited due to damage to the mold
3.) If they showed up in a limited fashion, in a few months, I wouldn't be suprised.
