I agree. They are a intresting feature but don't do it for me. If anything you'll need to add a bigger engine in order to move the amount of debris that bade is designed for. I'd go for double!

Not where I should be

I am not 100% on them. I kinda get it, but , I don't know, just doesn't feel right.

The idea was to move debris out the way of the sponsons, but I don't know?!!

Maybe instead extend the sponson front to the ground, with a lip to "scoop" stuff away. Or put a smaller inverted "blade" on the bottom of the sponson?

Ah what do I know, it looks brilliant.

And besides you wanted somewhere to put some art, those second blades would be great for that?

If the main blade is getting the carmageddon spikes, maybe the smaller blades could get two similar spikes? Whatever, I'd finish the main blade to where you want it before deciding what to do with the little fellas

And that's the thing, this is meant to be a fast and aggressive tank. Those extra dozers make it look like an earth-mover.

Yeah, it's just that I didn't want it to punch a hole in a wall and leave the guns behind...
I think at this stage I need to think about what's cool rather than what's functional.
I want it to look fast and aggressive, not slow and lumbering.

And besides you wanted somewhere to put some art, those second blades would be great for that?
Thing is, they are covering an area that I was thinking of putting the art on...

monkeytroll wrote:If the main blade is getting the carmageddon spikes, maybe the smaller blades could get two similar spikes? Whatever, I'd finish the main blade to where you want it before deciding what to do with the little fellas
I did think that, but then they wouldn't match the other dozer... gotta be coordinated in this day and age...

I didn't like the look of the rail either. Too cluttered and not substantial enough to look like it'd do the job. I could have made it with thicker rails, but that wouldn't solve the look issues.

I'll leave it for now and do other things...

Speaking of the spikes for the Carmageddon blade, how's this for size?

I thought it looked small as I cut it, but looking at the pictures it certainly doesn't need to be any bigger.
But should it be smaller? Thicker?
Remember there will be 2 more of these on each side.

Hmmm, spike looks a bit too long, since it gives the illusion that the plow is almost as long as the tank itself 9 or its the camera angle in which case ignore the critique . Reduce its length by 40% or so? And thicker works.

About the side plows... maybe increase the overlap with the main blade and curve them a bit more?

Hmm, hard to judge without the other spikes in place I feel......not much help there really

Like it, not too bad on size. But you are right no bigger.

Again I am really sorry here, this blade overall is getting on for the size of the tank itself, and this is scaring me a bit. I am sure you will pull it off. But given this, maybe ease the spikes a little smaller!

Really sorry to be negative again, trying not to be. I do love it, but I know what you are like. It is awesome and brilliant, just a little tweeking here and it will be perfect.

Thanks Red. If the tank hull is 12cm, The plough, with this spike is 9cm from the front of the tank's hull to the tip. That is probably getting on a bit long.

Thank you MT.

How's this for the alternative?
This is about half the length of the previous and reaches further up the dozer. So it's more of a blade than a spike.

the current spikes look better...

also to the really cool looking lil dozer blades... I think that the rule of cool card gets drawn from the heap always as an excuse... I think your tank is currently a sparkling example that on that scale it with such material functionality still is achievable... so I vote for them... just convert them a little... curve was mentioned and more spikes and I think you again have a working system...

Thanks. I'll look at them again at a later date. They are put to one side but not forgotten.

With that, I set about cutting the spikes ready to fit them on.
I started in the middle and had to do a little shaving and sanding to get it to fit on, but got it on. Then when I came to add the next one, I found that the slight rise in the tip of the dozer blade (which happened when the two halves met and pushed up a little) was exaggerated by the spike and it just wasn't at the same angle as the others were and by quite a bit... not good.

So, I had that one off and added scraps of plastic to fill the gap that appears when you have the bottom of the spike flat with the ground. You can see in the picture just how much extra was needed.

The gaps will be filled with putty when I do all the little gaps for all the blades.

I haven't done the other side yet as I am leaving plenty of time between the additions so that the glue sets and I don't end up bending one while adding another.

I'll be back when they are all on and filled.

I like that idea. Makes sense with the rest of the dozer being all curves. I'll look at doing that in a bit.

and welcome to my little corner of sanity, GamesEtc.

They are not curved yet, but here's the dozer in it's (almost) full glory.

I think that gives the tank a nice smile there. The sort of smile a psychopath gives you...

And, my friend has sent me some more models to paint before he sells them and this amused me...

And now with a slight curve to the blades.

Thanks Red.
I did, in a way, account for the extra height. I mounted the dozer so that it is raised from the ground. Partially to avoid terrain issues in the future and to avoid getting it slightly wrong and being too close to the ground, or not straight enough to be shown up by flat ground. So it's already quite high and the extra height shouldn't, therefore, make much difference.

I do have some LotR miniatures. Only the 4 main Hobbits. These are for selling though, so the next time you'll see them will be in my commission thread.

Good luck with that.

Hopefully you will all be riveted by today's update.

While riveting the dozers, I thought I'd add (or replace) a few on the rest of the tank too.

Some of them aren't easy to see, being white on white, but they will be more obvious when it comes to painting.
There may even be a few more rivets needing to be added to the hull, but they'll be done when I do the final check over at the end of the build.

I'm a bit dozered out at the moment, so I'll do a few other things before returning to detail the second blade. It'll get done eventually.
