That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, the holes are on the Mace Wielding arms, so you could still easily combine the wrong shield with the wrong shoulder pad, further, given the way most storm bolters are included in the kit, you would have to use those arms with the concave shoulders for your storm bolter wielding Deathwing much the same as your Mace Wielding Deathwing.
Also note that the Storm Bolter on the second frame (the one with the scope) has the same recessed area as does at least one powerfist on the third frame, this is noteworthy because the Storm Bolter and Power Fist are left handed, while the others that feature this are all right handed, and further the Storm Bolter or the Powerfist almost certainly wont be able to pair with a Storm Shield.
Something which I still haven't really bothered with in regards GW kits is that the sprues actually have numbers next to every part. The instruction sheet tells you what goes with what if you actually use it. I had a problem matching up my GK stuff because I did what I used to do with previous kits (before they got all technical) which was cut everything off the sprue first without looking at what the part numbers were.

The numbers have helped me immensely with my vehicle construction. With so many small parts for example the Necron annihilation barge's I cant just cut all the pieces off like I used too.

Indeed, just thought about what I actually said in my post and how it did not quite make sense. The shield arm and shield woudln't be matched (those are the crux arms), and they wouldn't both matching the opposite arms. Yeah, I got nothing on the notches. Your theory sounds better.

I like this release. I don't have any loyalist marines, and I may finally crack.
It depends how much conversion work would be required to get DV terminators/bikers into to an optimal set up. I wanted to do a Chaos biker force, but Helldrakes being in fast attack and Chaos bikers being old and $15 each kinda ruined that... I can get 3 DV bikers for $15...

I'm picking up the codex this weekend. I have the DV starter set, so I small handful of DA stuff. I also have plenty of space marine bits from the Black Templar and Crimson Fists armies, so a small 1k army to augment my Chaos Space Marines (Fallen) or BT/CF's (Loyalist DA) wouldn't be hard to do.

I just bought 9 DV bikers off ebay the other day because I think they will convert well, the torsos and weapon arms are a single piece as I recall from assembling my first 3, so they might not be the easiest to make changes to, but they would be easily replaced with torsos from elsewhere.
Of course for me it really stems from, I don't own any older Ravenwing models with the different poles on the back of the bike and the different front guards, so I want to try to use the new ones for my whole force for consistency.

80 points for a 3man bike squad! 27 points for each additional member. They still come with scouts, have special combat squad splitting (3/3 bikes and the AB and speeder separately (so 3 scoring and a vehicle). 126 points base for those fancy command bikes, their plasma is only 18" though...

I had a quick glance at them.
Termie squads are 210, have split fire rules, can take 10 members with heavy weapons per 5. They are 44 Points for each additional member.
Everything has a version of stubborn.

Sure it's not 220 points? That's what the pic in WD shows.

If you buy that, you need to get your head checked.
Not really, it will sell out.
You are aware that the only difference is a piece of paper, a book mark and silver coloured page edges right? It wont be worth anything down the road, the LE rulebooks have easily shown as much.

Its a neat marketing trick that you purposely understock the webstore to create massive hype, GW has been doing for awhile with WD and many other things. Think about it, if only 1000 are made and they have hundreds of stores, and hundreds of pre-orders to fill, that doesnt leave alot left. It tricks people into thinking that it has actual value. And it gives GW store owners the gimmick of "it sold out you better buy buy buy!".

Is that 126 points base for the command bikes? That's really good, if it comes with the plasma talons, as that 6 points more than 3 bikes with 2 PG anyway. Also, do you remember if the command squad is any different than the knights? They look very similar on the GW website.
Last little query, can anyone confirm if TL PG is an option for the AB?

According to the GW site they are basically the same except the Command Squad also has a stat line for a Champion, but their listed default gear is the same.
But then there's 3 Power Swords and a Power Mace in the boxed set, so I think at least one of those units can upgrade their Corvus Hammers, and my bet would be the Command Squad.

Well so far we have multiple corroborations of Belial allowing DW as troops (German rumours, French rumours and the sales-sheet leak). We have at least one saying Azrael also allows it (along with Ravenwing). We also have one negatively confirming that other characters unlocked Ravenwing/Deathwing (i.e. appeared only for Azrael, Sammael and Belial). So there is that.
But still, early days, take with salt, etc. ad nauseam.

He's pretty much it, Azrael makes both Deathwing terminators (standard ones, not knights) and Ravenwing bike squads (again, standard, not the fancy ones) Troops, which is pretty damn cool.
I know I'm gonna start up a Doppelwing now, seems like they'd compliment one another pretty well.

I'd like to do Doublewing and have room for a libby or chaplain too, but if Azrael is anywhere near his current cost I don't think it's happening, I really don't want to be beholden to a 200+ point character to make my army come together how I want.
Also, I don't really know what Azrael would do in a Doublewing, give his 4+ Inv to Terminators?

Partly that, and mostly because a limited edition gives you a guaranteed chunk of high-margin sales with no overstocks left floating in stores. That's why they do it, and that's why they do it online. I'm a retail buyer who used to commission exactly the same type of product at Waterstone's.
