This time I'll rephrase from deciding myself. Limiting the poll to Chaos, i'll post one later on Loyalist Legions.

I say Death Guard or as some would call them Plague marines because most of us are grotesquely large and bloated but jovial people. And because we are a fairly hard to put down bunch when it comes to a fight.

I actually thought the Black Legion did as it's strong (forced) center of governing over the other legions, at least where alliances are concerned. They also have a reeeally long memory, and if you've seen American War Policy and how it is carried out....man....we can keep a grudge. @.@

I'll say thousand sons. Having various Government organizations (cults) that are constantly gathering information and going over it and giving it to those in command to use in their decision. making no matter how much or how little of said information they actually use is up to the person in command.

Now when we get to the battlefield roles I always viewed Thousand sons as "These guys are the psykers and are the primary strength of the military and as such everyone else provides support for them" similar to the USA's military of Roughly 20% combat troops (the psykers though this percent would be much lower) 80% support (the normals, and later the rubirc marines/cultists/thralls). the 20/80 number is just a rough estimate if anyone knows the actual values please correct me if i'm wrong.

Also the Night Lords are an army composed of multi national troops. They don't seem to have the hangups on racial purity like the Iron Warriors do. Though many of the Nostroman recruits are deeply prejudiced Curze had no problem appointing a Terran who given his name Zso Sahaal I suspect he was of east Asian origin and First Claw has no problem adopting Variel even though he does't even have the same Gene seed. This is why I find it strange that Sahaal is drawn as having blond and blue eyes.

Speaking generalistically and because you've chosen chaotic traitor legions im going to stay with this vein and focus on negatives.
Word bearers for the heavy religious influence through all aspects of society and government.
Death guard for the bloated nature and poisioning of the atmosphere (not picking on USA - there are countries which do this to far worse an extent)
Alpha legion for the subtle interference of other nations.
Emperors children for the drive for the american dream (personal perfection despite the cost to others)
World eaters for the love of guns which invariably leads to greater bloodshed.
Black legion for the desire to be in control of others.
Thousand sons reflects the trickery and deceit infesting the political system.
Iron warriors I struggle with.

I'm not attempting to slander the united states by the way. I've mearly said which EVIL chaos legion loosely represents aspects of the USA in my eyes. If it was focused on those on the side of order there would be positives over negatives.
Also please remember there are far more countries (and even another continent) in America.

Again before any storm comes this way - it is not to offend but to compare evil legions with national characteristics. It would be difficult to say any positives when comparing with evil. Not meant to offend any nationalistic sensibilities but to look at similarities in traits with a fictional arch evil. I do not think the united states is evil and I appreciate what its service men and women are doing for the attempt of world peace alongside other nations forces.

Iron warriors in that the US is one of the few nations to maintain what even they call legacy divisions of heavy armor and artillery. Most nations are noting that warfare is changing and 100ton tanks arent as useful as they use to be. Multiple small fast vehicles that can call in air power or run away is the way things are going.

Emperors Children without a doubt, the EC seek pleasure as much as possible, craving the things which bring them this pleasure. They also see themselves as near perfect.

As a patriotic US citizen, I have to say that Nurgle embodies the "ugly American" so well, bloated and friendly and unkillable: "We love you! We want you to have the opportunity to be Just Like Us! Why wouldn't you want to be just like us? Why -- why do you keep shooting us in the face like that? That hurts! C'mon, lemme give you a big hug and you'll feel better..."

Actually, that isn't so much the American Military as it is Congress. The Army was set to phase out the M1 Abrams, despite it being the top of the line battle tank, due to a desire to move to a smaller, more flexible fighting platform. Congress said no, you will still buy the M1 Abrams to the tune of almost $500 million dollars. Talk about waste...

I would say the US military would be most like the most flexible legion combined with the largest legion.

US military doctrine since WW2 has been to have a military large enough to fight two major wars at the same time (Europe and Pacific). It also favors correct application of force, although we aren't as quick on that as others, the Marines, for example, are the 'fight any fight' guys.

If loyalist, I would say Ultramarines or Raptors, so as far as Chaos, I don't know.

I would say Iron Warriors for the style of war. It seems very 20th century American warfare with massive amounts of artillery and air support grinding trough armies, emphasising tech over spending human lives in the search of victory. The moral aspect is totally different though, maybe more pre-heresy, but even then the IW are by far more brutal just like the others.

I had to vote for Black Legion.

The United States is filled with a multitude of diverse populations which all on the whole hate eachother. But this internal hatred is glossed over and often hidden by our united hatred of external forces- namely the middle east, and before that the Russians, and before that the Germans and Japanese, etc. This of course aligns almost perfectly with the myriad of different chaos factions under the Black Legion flag all brought together in their hatred of the Imperium.

We are a people who love mindless violence and asserting our martial superiority. We love sex, drugs, rock and roll and of course lots of fat rich foods. Our leaders in government and buisness are manipulative, treacherous, and in many cases dabble in knowledge they don't fully understand (see the subprime crisis). And we have probably the worse healthcare coverage in the first world for the bulk of our populaiton. Like Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Nurgle under the Flag of the Black Legion, all of these traits are brought together under the stars and stripes.

God bless America
