How much heat does that thing put out? I know LEDs are supposed to be cooler then other lights, but with that amount of glow, I wonder about Gets Hot! rolls…

Looks awesome though.

Okay, I think that can no longer be a thing. Actually I'm pretty surprised that it's taken that much to actually have a mod pop in and put a stop to something in one of my posts. That is why I fething love Dakka.

I packed up the remaining few pieces like the pimp wagon in a tupperware loaded with foam scraps. Between this and the hard shelled luggage, my work *should* survive the Bengali bag handlers. Assuming all my stuff doesn't get sent to freaking Mumbai or something.

Finally back from the USA. Didn't get to play a single game of 40k with my Dubstep Tau the entire time, so I ended up just putting the pieces I'd brought home into storage at my parents' place with the rest of my stuff. If I really, really need to I can have it shipped over so I can finish painting the one or two things that needed it. But for now, it's honestly for the best that I don't have the models around. Gonna have to move soon and it'll be enough of a pain without excessive model stuff everywhere.

Oh, and I almost didn't make it onto my return flight because the lady at the ticket counter decided that if she couldn't read the arabic language visa, then it must obviously be invalid. She flipped out when I called in her supervisor and stormed off, returning shortly afterward with the freaking cops. Not some random TSA agent, but actual gun carrying cops. America has been enough of a collective gakker that I don't have any special need to return any time soon.

Welcome to what happens to a nation when the ignorant masses are kept ignorant by a radical far Right and are then frightened by that leadership, be it political and/or religious.

I live in the South (Louisiana, near the Texas border). It. SUCKS.

LoL, not to drag this thread further off topic, but mate, you are so wrong here..... It honestly isn't ONLY the purview of the Right to "scare everyone" into ignorance. The Dems and "far left" (as far left as a US politician is, when compared to other countries) do just as much damage through their own ignorant campaigns and fearmongering.

@boss, that really sucks... I don't get some people who work at airports and whatnot, but hopefully she ends up severely reprimanded and/or fired for being so stupid. And I hope that once you're moved and settled in, that you find some hobby time and inspiration for projects, because your stuff is seriously awesome.

Personally, I think it's everybody who finds themselves in a high legislative position. It's not necessarily the people themselves, but the pressures that public scrutiny and the drive for reelection (because imagine if you were in danger of being fired every few years if you didn't win a massive popularity contest? It's like playing Mafia for your paycheck) forces them to publicly striate their opinions- because people demand a clear Black and White, anyone that doesn't stay by their first publicly pronounced decision (even if they later learn or experience something that changes their mind) is essentially politically dead. They band together in Parties because there's strength in numbers and the more successful or longer-sitting politicians (who are more set in their ways) are the ones with more connections and experience, and so essentially force any younger, more idealistic or honest politicians to 'play the game' or, again, lose their job.

Personally, I feel like making any and all positions of Government into fully Volunteer jobs would be better. Have funds set aside for political apartments and a stipend for food, but anything and everything else comes out of the politician's personal pocket, not the public coffers. And of course, they wouldn't be allowed to hold positions in any other corporations or businesses during this time either. (you want that private jet and $3000 suit? Well I hope you have a pretty fat bank account already! And forget about hiring personal aides- you're doing your own research, buster brown).

Of course, that sort of significant positional change will never come about due to the simple fact that it's the Legislators that set their own paychecks. Telling someone that they essentially get to decide how much money they make, with no upper limit? Kind of a drastic oversight by the Founding Fathers- Congress' paycheck should have been decided by Executive Order, or been limited to a certain multiple of the Minimum Wage or percentage of the total GDP or something.

Yes! Always look to the incentives and disincentives to behavior, not to issues of morality and conspiracy -- because 90% of people will convince themselves whatever is in their self-interest is the right thing to do, and large-scale trends almost always result from lots of people have the same responses to the same pressures, rather than any mastermind coordinating behind the scenes (because, seriously, herding cats).

I personally think the US political systems needs more secrecy, corruption, and cynical back-room dealing, because the big problems (e.g. sequestration, the invasion of Iraq) get caused by politicians grandstanding for public attention and feeling terrified to compromise:

Hah! You know, I think you might be on to something there?

The biggest problem with a corrupt government is the 'ones in power' taking up more than their share of the produced wealth- but in a full capitalist economy- and especially one as frikkin' robust as the American one (I mean, seriously- the biggest issue even our poorest have tends to be 'can't afford digital cable'), we could support rampant wealth mishandling. We are supporting rampant wealth mishandling!
