If one of the traits is double wounds table it might be popular. Makes sentinels and mass light vehicles appealing, too.

You get to take two doctrines right? So add in gunnery experts to reroll number of hits on the baneblade cannon. It basically gives you veteran of the scouring from the old legacy of ruin fw table. Guess it would be too much to ask to get those back for the actual hellforged. Which cost more than two baneblades btw.

so um... am I missing something or can you not just currently take 3 HQs and have a baneblade with a regiment trait that gives you 1CP?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Not baneblades specifically. More like shadosword. Those things hurt. I might also be overreacting.

Yeah that works as well. But the point is what those particular traits (gunnery experts and jury rigged repairs) can do for the guard super heavys. (Most of which got cheaper in ca btw).

Why is this important? So you can heal the tank with random rolls for a couple of wounds? Seems not very good to me.

Compared to just playing Catachan instead? Nothing. Catachan get the RoF reroll, and they can bring a Reroll 1's aura buff guy. That's a much scarier Superheavy than the few healed wounds - that's more interesting to a mechanized / tank list, not a superheavy. I'm more interested in what other traits you can combine with the RoF reroll, improved overwatch would have been be an interesting pick if there weren't so many options in the game that let you forfeit overwatch.

Tank Commanders, Company Commanders and Primaris Psykers are all some of the better units available to Guard anyway, so it's not like coming up with 3 HQ's was a challenge.

(In practice, unless there's a Duty Eternal equivalent for Guard super-heavies, Expert Crafter Crimson Hunter Exarchs will still kill it at the top of turn 1 most games anyway.)

Yes it is good for a mechanized/tank list. Obviously baneblades are neither mechanized nor tanks.

There is potential for Cahatchan rerolls plus double wounds as a regiment on top of the heal and an enginseer that will keep a BB in fighting form longer. Add in a bunch of sentinels and light vehicles all healing themselves from what was once a 1CP strat that healed one, but is now free.

On top of whatever other choices are available.

This. The question isn't if the knights will come of the shelves, the question is can we put them back onto the shelves and get our own stuff off of it.

Anyway
Given that I've bee using Catachan most of the edition and not using their unique stratagem or order, and you can buy the Catachan function plus one other, it might actually be something I want to do to take a build-your-own-regiment [maybe I can get Catachan + Cadian together]

I'd have to see what the other traits available for the Super Heavy Tank Ace are though, since just getting a regimental bonus is something mine is doing already in a Supreme Command with my Tank Commanders. The only time it lives in a SH Aux is when I want it to be Vostroyan for the stratagem, and it doesn't exactly need the Vostroyan doctrine.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Catachan one is superior. And jury rig suffers from same issue suggestions for stompa to not degrade. To benefit you have to be alive. When 3/4 times stompa has been dead before my turn...baneblade would be obviously just as dead and juro rig does not resurect it

They're not exactly expensive. 450 to 550 points. A Tallarn Stormlord is definitely worth that.

Yes! Would be beautiful models and fun. I homebrewed * a bunch years ago (Storm Queen, Flameblade, Firesword — you can guess what they’re based on and how they change....) and the new Sisters dex has inspired me to try to update them for this edition.

I’m updating that fandex now & I’m eager for feedback on new home-brew units for the Sisters: Sororitas Bikers, infiltrators & Novices, tanks, flyers, characters, superheavies, Frateris Militia, and now Confessors and Battle Conclave characters

I started to wonder what you were talking about, then remembered we have Saga of the Beast (or something like that) before the IK/CK/AdMech/Daemon book.

With TGG now on pre-order, I wonder when we'll start to hear more about Saga... and the return of Makari.

Agreed! We should also have a flyer.

The Triumph is so cool it feels like a superheavy, but I still want one.

I had always planned to add 2 exorcist launchers, 2 immolator turrets and a pulpit to a baneblade, but I didn't get around to it in time.
It might still work with the new kits, but I don't know. Another idea was to build it up with pieces from the AoS mausoleum kit and make it a mobile church.

Sorry to tangent. I like these rules for sentinels, which I always loved. Wish they still sold them in boxes of 3.

There was a 5e Inquisition (/GK/Sisters/Deathwatch) fan book I really liked that gave the Sisters a statblock copy of the Stormraven called the "Erelim Lander" (no model or pictures); I always wanted to take a Storm Eagle or a Blackstar and load it up with extra multi-meltas but whenever I bring up the idea people grumble at me about too closely copy-pasting Space Marines.
