Knocked out my entries late last night - I've been lazier than I expected this month, and busier, and it looked like I won't get much more time at home this month due to some personal plans. Did okay for my first competition entries, though nothing world-shaking. Think I'm gonna be up against some stiff competition this month, as most of you will be in lockdown in your countries. I achieved everything I planned to with these minis, and so I can't say fairer than that. Might see if I can't snap some slightly more flattering pics at some point, but it might not be feasable, so for the time being, this is gonna be it from me. Hope ya like 'em!

Still really looking forward to seeing some of the entries this month! Best of luck to you all, there are some absolutely fantastic paintjobs in this thread!

edit: took some more snaps while the light was still good.

Great looking stuff already in this thread, I'm plodding along, but getting there, mainly the cloak and the big sword at this point.

Got the wolves painted, just gotta figure out what I'm doing with the bases. Sadly, tried something new with a green stuff stamp, then inserting the models in through that, but it mostly just ended up looking junky-didn't get flat enough, and couldn't match up the displaced bits or get the level right. Should have just made the bases separate, and just given in and sawn the models off the support before gluing them on top.

That base looks pretty cool Tim.

Vejut - would the bases work if you made them deliberately junky - go to town on rusting them up, maybe throw a few pieces of junk on there?

Paradigm, may I replace my final pictures with the following please?

Image is much larger in the gallery...

Good luck everyone!

Vejut: I'm sure you'll work out something!

Viterbi and posermcbogus: Looking good!

monkeytroll: Finishing touches have really brought it together - and (almost) completed too!

Captain Brown: But that's only 2/3rds of a Space Marine?

Domican: Well done - I'm not sure I could complete a vehicle in a month...

Jadenim: I might just take up your sub challenge for next month (I have a pair of untouched Marauders and Chaos Warriors whose tabs say 1985...)

Jamie Shred: Qualty and quantity (and thanks for the comment).

Modock: I can't wait to see the finished result.

I think that is everything since I last posted, apologies if I missed anyone.

posermcbogus - You say that, but even in lockdown it'll take some of us a month to finish, whereas you knocked that out in a night Fast and crisp..damn you!!

Arakasi - Looks great on the blue background, nice job. And thanks, much happier with it now.

And touching up complete, so final pics:

Lots of lovely stuff appearing.

I did come on to post that I've finally finished Guilliman, but I've just realised that I've forgotten to add a final highlight to the chapter symbols. This is think the fifth or sixth false finish I've had on him today, having missed the sword handle, the wires going up the sword, a screen on his backpack, some bits on the torches on the base, and a thousand other details.

He's genuinely the hardest thing I've ever painted.

Very nice Deadshot! Love the face, and really like how you kept the cloak and the rock so close.

Hey guys,

I know it's seriously late in the month but I hope I can still enter

Been a while since I done any painting and with the lockdown, I thought now is the perfect time to dust off the paint brushes.

Came here today for the first time in long time and saw this months comp is space marines and thought I'd enter as they are what I am currently painting!

Finished my Imperial Fists Librarian who has returned from the DeathWatch. Very happy with him, the best yellow I have painted so far.

Thanks for the kind words Arakasi!

I'm finished with my entry and tried out the lightbox that lay in my cupboard for ages, but have to work on that a bit, not entirely happy.

Looks good vitterbi.

JustALittleOrkish: Not a bad yellow at all.

Disciple of Mephiston: honestly, you can enter at any time, as long as it gets done by the 31st and in by the time Paradigm or MidgetGems closes the submission deadline--we often have a lot of late entries.

Just went for it with the bases. Took final pics, and noticed the chipping after I was done, but just kinda done, so hopefully I'll do a better job next month.
So, with that, four werewolf marines IN SPACE:

Looking great everyone!

Done with mine:

Only did 2 out of the 4. Part of that was motivation issues, part was running dangerously low on black paint (since rectified). The first probably is just using the second as a handy excuse. Anyway, despite my normal aversion and procrastination with the grey edges, I enjoyed these guys. Happy with the heat stress on the flamer, only done that a handful of times.

We’ll see how much I can do next month. I need to get moving and knock some minis off the to-do list. Behind for the year.

JustALittleOrkish - Good job, the yellow looks good.

Vitterbi - Nicely done. Seemed to have done a good job with the lightbox, cut out glare and shadows. And I like those steps.

Vejut - The bases turned out alright with the rust effect, look damaged and battered.

Nevelon - Nice. I like the contrast of the snow base against the black armour, good choice.

Rybrook - Again, liking the black against the light basing.

Disciple of Mephiston - Applause is due just for the fact you started with only a few days to go. Too many fast painters around, I need to spread some sort of procrastination virus about.

I gotta say I really enjoyed painting this model, cause was such a different experience. For the first time I've used oils and enamel paints and I liked them a lot.

That's more than enough reason to take part Jazzy - motivation to complete a model, and try to improve each time. For me it's definitely about trying to finish something as that's something am notoriously bad at. Also hoping I might eventually learn to paint a little faste than I do now

Pushing ourselves is one of the best part of the competition.

Back in Sep ’18 the topic was “Pick up the pace” I took that as both a subject and technical challenge, and worked on getting my jetbikes done to me normal standard as quickly as I could. Quality, Speed, and Volume are all things I try to improve. Also diversity and new skills. I try for a lot of things, and even make some of them!
