I've decided this month that absolutely everyone deserves a vote for two reasons - a great standard all around and for clearing some backlogs! Backlog clearing is always vote worthy for me! Well done everyone on doing so and shrinking that pile of shame!

Thanks so much for all your hard work, Paradigm! And you even managed to paint up that huge dragon, too!

This was my first month taking part and I gave out loads of votes for all sorts of reasons, but for me feltmonkey wins this one hands down. That gloriously colourful cartoony style is fantastic! And getting so many models to that high a standard! Well done felt!

Wow, awesome amount of quality entries. I'm going to ponder on votes for a while, but DV8's is the winner for me, that got a physical reaction from me when I first saw it. The piece as a whole is stunning, and that gorgeous green against the reds...

Haha thanks for trying feltmonkey I do feel a bit petty now for whining above ...
Anyway, good job everyone!! Random comments on some of the minis while I go through the entries:

Deadshot: Oof that's quite a lot of boys & some clean painting, too - I'm kind of afraid to count but I guess you got more minis done in one month than I did in several decades of HHHobbyying

Nevelon: Love that these are still around. The snow bases work very well with the glowing blue visors!

Arakasi: More retro goodness + a quite striking paint scheme that ties them together. It's interesting how well this kind of more modern / weathered paintjob works with old minis.

Ezki: One of my favourites this round - the sort of conversion that looks as if it had been an option in the kit, anyway -

Jamie Shred: Haven't seen many of these Fallout minis around yet and they look appropriately 'worn out' ^^

qar: That's such a super busy mini with all the fur and braids and scales, great how you manage to make every detail so distinct!

CancelledApocalypse: Very pretty mini, great shading on the cloak & the glowing spear adds even more to the rather purposeful stride ^^

Modock: I've always thought that weathered Tau are much more interesting than cartoon Tau, and here we go! Great piece.

Jadenim: Didn't remember these guys - you've brought out the classic GW Ork humour really well with this colour scheme!!

feltmonkey: Wow OK where to start - great shading on many of these, especially the OSL on wizard dude - and the weird base colour ties everything together wonderfully

DV8: Yeah, perfect. Great contrast between the weathered base and the super clean armour/textiles, and the NMM/crystal parts.

Chris56: Not a Nurgle fan but I'm constantly suprised how much potential these minis have for crazily original colour schemes, and you pulled off another one that I wouldn't have imagined myself ^^

Tim121RVC: Another fun conversion! And a great base which makes this guy even more eerie.

DJJazzyJeff: Ha, that's a really interesting idea for the camo cloaks & good job on the bases! I'm quite a fan of 'tacticool' Primaris but am still struggling to get them work aesthetically, myself.

Midget Gems: Love these! Another pinnacle of orkoid ingenuity.

dukeofbeer: Great colour scheme for a wacky classic mini! Like with Arakasi's Marauders, I like how slightly 'modernized' techniques bring out more of the qualities of old minis than their original paintjobs. (Obviously I'm very much looking forward to this month's round)

Thanks for all the great comments everyone! Can't remember if I commented last month, but I know I definitely did vote.

For this month, in no particular order, FeltMonkey, Maharg, and Modock (I guess alphabetical is the order).

FeltMonkey - So individually, being honest, the majority of the pieces don't particularly stand out to me. Paintjob is neat and clean, and color choices are solid, but I think it's the collection that's definitely swung my vote. All the figures together make a fantastic showing!

Maharg - Super clean, nothing to say here, although I feel like the photographs don't do the models justice.

Modock - I love your Tau scheme, and your collection's gotta look gorgeous. My only gripe is that the base colors blend into the model, so that separation kinda gets fuzzy. Also, I think your base trim should probably go a step darker to help frame the piece. But those are trifles.

Thanks for the comments, CancelledApocalypse, MobileSuitRandom, and DV8. MobileSuitRandom - my wife did manage to vote for you in the end, and the bases on my minis are supposed to match the carpet in the little girl's bedroom in the board game itself. The colour scheme of a lot of the boards is that blue and purple, so it fits. Thanks for the votes everyone as well.

Deadshot - Am amazing number of miniatures, great job painting a whole stack in a month.

Nevelon - Nice and neat. You usually paint more models than anyone else, but not this month!

Arakasi - These look great. The bases are good, and I like the Lord of the Rings style hand prints on the helmets. I also love how sassy one of the guys is!

vejut - More of your never-ending stream of interesting miniatures. That bit of leopard print on the one mini is my favorite part.

Ezki - Really nice. The starfield on the bike is really eyecatching, but my favorite part is the face, which is really well-defined and adds a lot of character.

Captain Brown - This is good, clean, and well-defined.

Rybrook - A really strong red tone, and very clean details. The jets are great,

monkeytroll - I like the muted colours and the rusty weapons. For some reason the fact that they are standing so close to the front of the bases gives me anxiety, like when I see people standing too close to the edge of a cliff.

Jamie Shred - Someone else who has painted a lot of minis this month! I like the weathering, and the character you've given them. My two favorites are the female models in the motorbike helmets.

Viterbi - Cool metallic green color, which goes nicely with the gold.

Pariah Press - Another fun old school model - there have been a lot of them this month, and more to come next month, I suppose! The rusty axehead looks great.

MacPhail - That's a strong metallic green. Is it contrast paint over silver?

queen_annes_revenge - I don't remember seeing you paint nmm before. Great narrative, I love the base. For some reason my favorite part of the whole thing is the post with the ring on it.

Straken619 - Nice camo, and good details. The flag is good.

Porphyrion - The blue on the wings is very striking. I remember you saying the transfers on the scrolls were a pain, but they were worth it, they look great.

CancelledApocalypse - Really lovely work, particularly the fade on the cloak and the detailed work on the armour. One of my favorites this month.

JoshinJapan - A cool looking rag-tag squad. The black armour is very nice, as is the camo. You've given them a lot of character.

ZergSmasher - Great tabletop stuff. Very clean, sharp details, it'll look great on the table, when we're allowed back to them. Of course, it doesn't matter how nice it looks close up now as we'll all have to move our armies from two meters away, using long poles.

Maharg - Fantastic work, your stuff always looks so well-defined. I think it's the black lining you do so well. I like that you've made them black, there aren't enough black characters in Warhammer.

Modock - Gorgeous stuff. I love the weathering, and the way you've managed to make it look really battered and real, but still maintained the manga feel.

lifeafter - Nice neat work, and the silver-blue armour is lovely.

Jadenim - Cool ork squad, I think modeled on real-world commandos? Either way the pink hats contrast nicely with the green skin.

feltmonkey - The best thing about painting these, as I've mentioned in the monthly thread, was playing the game with my wife and son, and us being able to use fully-painted miniatures. I had to keep up a pace of more than one mini finished per day towards the end, so I was pleased to get it done. I think I was more decisive and did less tinkering as a result. I'm most pleased with the creepy girl and the wizard.

DrGiggles - That blue-green carapace is lovely, and the bright orange underneath contrasts nicely.

DV8 - I mean, just spectacular. The clear winner for me this month. The green just leaps off the screen. The blades look gorgeous, the orange dust on the base, even the rocks look really cool. Well done mate, amazing work!

SmallChanges - This looks great. The blue contrasts nicely with the bronze and the rusty weathering.

Chris56 - Very cool, eerie colours. The rust contrasts nicely with the super-bright blue and green. I think some of your photos might be a bit over-exposed though.

Tim121RVC - Really good bold colour choices. It looks pretty clean and nice. Did you use contrast paints?

Power Elephant - Good highlights and nice textures on the body suits. I'm not sure the white lines on the backpacks quite work - are they scratches? You've done a really fantastic job on the white helmets. That's not an easy thing to do at all.

SirOllox - It's a bit difficult to make much out from the photos, unfortunately. Celestine looks pretty solid. Does she have eerie glowing blue eyes? The Black Templars look great.

DJJazzyJeff - Interesting idea with the camo sort of phasing out. The minis are overall a bit dark, but that's a very cool effect.

Midget Gems - So despite lacking a bit of motivation, you've made a squad of goblin/drukhari/harlequin hybrids, and even painted all those diamonds? I'd hate to see what you produce when your mojo is working! Great work, mate.

dukeofbeer - Great colours, and I love the retro styling overall.

inmygravenimage - I'm not familiar with Lobster Johnson, but you've done a great job here. Nice colours.

Paradigm - Great work, super atmospheric. I like how you've pushed the highlights on the chest and face, in order to draw the eye.

MobileSuitRandom - It's a shame these were missed off, as I think they'd be doing a lot better. They're really good!

Thanks to Para for organising the challenge as ever, and putting in all the work to let us do this every month. A bumper month like this one must be even more work.

@feltmonkey I think it’s fairly obvious that the sculptor was channelling old-school British Commandos when he did those Orks, so I decided to use the Parachute Regiment maroon as a spot colour on the hats, just to stop them being a sea of brown.

After voting for more entries last month, I will go back to my 5 votes this month, but damn, there a re many fine entries and as Deadshot says, it is good seeing people clear their backlogs!

My favorites this month were:

Arakasi: I loved watching them get painted step by step on your plog and it is amazing what time you put into these and testing for the bases. As someone who is always going for fast paintjobs, to get the minis from the desk, it was quite relaxing seeing you take the time. And with your paintjob those minis look better than they did on release!

CancelledApocalypse: The paintjob is great, but it is the pose that makes this model for me. He is looking so menacing, so self-assured that even the hardiest Space Marines should be like, "whoa, that dud isn't coming our way, is he?"

Maharg: From the superb skin color to the lovely neon hair, this whole warband is just looking amazing. A whole Slaves to Darkness army in this style would be great

feltmonkey: Love the minis, love the painting style you chose for them. OSL on the wizard is a nice touch and the color choice for the gorilla is great!

DV8: Amazing piece, the contrast between their green armour and red sand is glorious. I swear, looking at the pictures the first time, I had to cough, the base looks that real with all the dust.

Yeah, tell me about it. I've tried nmm on and off over the past couple of years, but gold is the one I find really tricky too. You're trying to create an illusion, and the difficulty I often find is losing track of whether it's actually working or not at all. You're too aware of how the illusion is being created, so it doesn't work on you. Sometimes it can be like one of those magic eye pictures. I find myself squinting at it and wondering if it looks like gold, or if it just looks like custard. Or perhaps that's just me.

Jadenim - it was a great idea, and interesting what a good spot colour that maroon is against the green skin. Were those uniforms secretly designed for orks? We'll never know.

Viterbi - Thanks! A lot of the colour choices were made for me by my kid absolutely insisting that I do them as close to the card art as possible. He doesn't like change, and doesn't approve of alternative paint schemes.

Firls of all thanks Para for another month and good job everyone! Lots of great entries this month
I voted for quite a few but for me the top 3 entries in no particular order are:

Modock: Very nice weathering effect as always.

feltmonkey: Each miniature looks really good but what makes it one of the top entries for me is when you see all those different miniatures together and they really look like an amazing group

DV8: You have done an amazing work bringing that awesome model to life. The cloaks are amazing. Both the Green and the brown/Red ones.

Now for my entry:
I originaly wanted to paint 13 models but i only managed to paint 7 (Technicaly more than half so I still call it a success).
I am not a fast painted but I mostly blame batch painting for that. I painted the Ogryn first as a test model for the color scheme then the 5 scions together and then Nork. Both the Orgyn and Nork took me like 2-3 afternoons each and they were fun to paint. I dont even know how many afternoons i spent on the scions but they were not as fun. Maybe it works for some people but I dont think I will ever paint in batches again. I get bored easily and what keeps me going is seeing that I actually make progress. When it takes me one afternoon to paint just 5 camo pants, I cant really say i am motivated to keep painting. But when in the same time i have the bottom half of an ogryn ready and I have basecoated the top half I can see I am getting there and I want to see the finished miniature.
Actually somewhere in the middle of the month I completely lost my motivation so I started painting the Flag to raise morale

@MobileSuitRandom, @feltmonkey, @Viterbi thanks so much for the kind words, I'm frankly amazed to be sitting so high in the votes, I thought there were a lot of entries better than mine this month. Maybe people were being kind as it's my first ever entry. ^_^'

I voted for each of your entries except yours, Mobile, but that's only because you were added after I'd cast my votes. I would have voted for yours too, so you can add at least one more onto your score. That's some solid work, not least how you've managed to make the cloth look like real woven dyed wool and in particular the skin tones and hair. I love well painted faces on minis.

Viterbi, I loved your overlords, the deep metallic green, gold/brass and gunmetal works really well together. Excellent work! Yours was one of the entries that immediately caught my eye for all the right reasons.

feltmonkey, I've already said how much I love your set, and the fact that you got a proper 'pile' done. I started the month intending to paint seven, but in the end managed to finish just one, so in that regard you (and quite a few others) hit the brief far better than I did. Not only that, but the effort you put into your post giving positive criticism to all the entries was hugely appreciated, so thanks so much for that!
