Now after the horrors of loosing god specific daemons and indeed any legion specific rules in the most recent CSM codex you would think if GW were to bring them back it would just be in a new combined CSM codex, right?

Wrong

It'll be no different than the divergent SM Codexs (DA, BT, SW), but with spikes.

Just give them back their god specific daemons and legion specific rules in the one big phat Codex. That'll keep everyone happy.

It could be, simply because you'd probably get alot of special stuff in them to go along with the "normal" CSM they are bound to port over into Alpha Legion, Word Bearers and Night Lords books. If they even get them, which part of me doubts they would.

If they did make the Legions have separate books it will be so that they can make more money from people having to buy more than one book.

Yes. Why should Angry Red Marines, Black Marines Who Really (x2) Love The Emperor, Dark Green Crossdresser Marines and Grey Drunkard Viking Marines have different codicies?

I propose that we go back in the past so we can burn down Gav Thorpe's house, therefore preventing the codex from ever being re-written by such a bad author.

God no.

I said this in the other thread - four Legion's Codices adds another 2 years to the release cycle. They wouldn't do them one after the other, so getting all four out would take a minimum of 4 years (at GW's hopeless 2 Codices per year scheme). Of the remaining 4 Codices that weren't Chaos Legions, two of them would be Marines (they would - you know it), which means that after four years we'd have 6 more Marine Codices and 2 non-Marine.

And they'd be boring bland optionless wastelands devoid of fluff or reason written by a bunch of incompetent oxygen-thieves.

So, again, feth no!

So Space marine codex, then guard codex, then 4 CSM legion codices, then a necron codex.

6 out of 7 codices are MEQ there

I think its a great Idea but hate that its going to be at the expense of everything else.

also if they are going to do legions that means the four legions are going to be the World Eaters, Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children and Death guard. As much as I'd like to see Word Bearers and Iron Warriors I don't see it happening.

Most Likely they will combine the Undivided legions into the next main codex and make the God-specific legions seperate.

I'd rather a e-write or the current CSM codex, and a legion codex containing rules for Death Guard, World Eater, Thousand Son and Emporers Children.

Oh god. If you are going to do it, do it all. Get a big book of Legions, get a big book of LatD and get a book of Renegades. 3 books. Not hard.

Wait, no, wait. They need to be in smaller chunks so if GW feths one up it won't taint everything. Gaagh, there is no right way to do it with these people.

If it's one book it works, but if it's four books it's terrible. I like the idea of three books:

Codex: Legions (all of 'em in one book)
Codex: Traitors (Renegade Space Marines & LatD)
Codex: Daemons (Daemonic Legions & Daemon World Armies)

I mean, I hate the idea of having separate Daemons, but if we're going that route at least make everything consistent.

If they are going to keep the ally system for the Loyalists I'd sue if they didn't put one for us with the next dex. That'd fix everything. EDIT: Almost.

So, if one wants to field a proper Traitor Legion with flavored Daemons and stuff like Oblits or Cultists, you'll need 3 Codices?

OK, I'm all for that!

Would be good if they didn't super power each one so that the black legion become the norm and pwn everyone. An Iron Warriors codex would be cool, more heavy support and thunderhammers? O_o

I have to wonder if GW realises how much money it'd make if it brought back LatD. I mean, even without any alliance system or Legions book or any of that. LatD doesn't even really need a model line for people to use it. I mean, just think about how many people do Traitor Guard now.

Given that the absolute trash that is the CSM codex ruined LatD, I'm sure they'd sell like hotcakes, yet GW doesn't pick up on it...

And that's exactly why they don't. GW are a miniature company first, rules company last. They won't do rules without a dedicated model line.

And it's a pity too, as building my LatD army was easily the most fun I've had putting together models. Combining the Ork, Catachan, Zombie and Marauder kits with a little bit of Necromund and Genestealer Hybrid into the mix was great fun.
