Does Wazdakka count as a Big Mek?

Cos if not you cant take the grot tanks (unless a team mate takes a Big Mek)

Well, Wazdakka is THE big mek (i.e. he's the only Mek character in the book). However... I don't know for certain if that's the intent of the IA rules. I guess I can try to e-mail Forge World and see if there's someone there who'd be willing to give an opinion.

Then I guess it's up to the rules team at Adepticon to make the decision for their tournament.

Ah I do so love me a Grot rebellion!
I was this >< close to starting one of my own, but common sense deemed 2 armies enough for now. The thread and initial sketches are still on here somewhere...

If you do decide to take boyz ever, how about using the Savage ork kit from WFB, adding explosive collars and a Grot handler with his Big Red Button of BOOM? Nothing says revolution like turning the tables on your former tormentors

Alternatively, you could use the points to add a single big shoota deffkopta to your list. He could be paired up with Wazdakka. This gives you a perma cover save for both, T6 for the unit, 2 more wounds for keeping Wazdakka alive longer, 3 more TL Str5 shots, and a place to dump any str10 hits so Wazdakka won't get ID'd.

Interesting thought. Why does the cover save go to the kopta though? I know if it turbo boosts it gets one, but just moving around with Wazzy, how does it get one?

If Wazdakka attaches to the Kopta, he's a part of the unit. If 50% of the squad has cover, which Wazdakka will from his smoke rule, then the entire squad has cover.

*edit*

I love the unibiker. Would you consider chopping the horns off of the skull/face/coverplate piece and mounting the handlebars directly on top? That would make the grot look like he's steering the bike by it's horns. *grin*

Well wasnt really looking at finishing the model quite yet. Was just just a consept model I was doing to give Gitz an idea. But I can finish it. I'll add the engine and try the handle bar thing. At work right now so I'll try and get something up when I get home.

Yeah, I think we're all in agreement on that. The questions was if he qualified as a "Big Mek" for the purposes of the rules associated with the Grot Tanks... and I'm confident the answer to that one is "no".

I think stick an exhaust coming out from the wheel and say the engine is inside there. It wouldn't need to be too large and will drive the wheel directly, rather than relying in belts and cogs to do the work.

Nah, you just have a boar chained to the front of the thing, pulling it (it also produces the exhaust cloud for cover).

So I added an engine and exhaust like you guys suggested. Also repositioned the handle bars. Still no rider yet but working on that. So this is what I have so far.

now add a tiny seat on the exaust or foot rests to keep him from scorching his rear.

Actually it would be funny if the recoil from the guns was stronger than the engine... so when he shot the vehicle would actually go backwards! :-)

lol. I never thought of that. Ball and chain grot. That would be a cool special rule. Take the role to hit (D6) divide by 2 round up and thats the movement backwards from the recoil. I love it.

Perhaps a bit simpler... say that movement for a unit of grot mono-cycles effectively "scatters" d3 inches per turn if they fire.

So they move like normal. If they shoot, the recoil from the guns sends the mono-cycles spinning off in some random direction d3 inches (resolved *after* shooting), so it won't effect shooting range, but might effect any potential moves in the next phase). You can do it bike-by-bike if you want, but given the rules it would probably be better to roll one scatter die for the entire mob. A "hit" indicates they just spun around in circles (you can point them in a random direction for fun, but it won't effect anything game-wise.

I wouldn't do it on a per unit basis; it's not as if IG mortars get to scatter once for the entire squad. I'm also unclear as to how recoil would bounce them forwards?

I do like the recoil idea in general though

The rear-most grot was a bit over-excited and was firing backwards, and the recoil caused him to bounce into the others

ok... forward can be explained by venting the gasses from the weapon thru the exaust of the bike. essentually jerking it forward. or... It's orc tech. doesn't have to make sense.. ( Like painting something red!)

I quote myself. Please re-read the first sentence of the explanation... that's how they go forward. There's no stability to the one wheel design so the recoil could send the bikes spinning off in any direction. IG mortars don't need to worry about unit coherency... grots do. There is precedent for doing it by unit. Grot tanks move a random distance each turn, but you roll once for the entire unit, not for each tank.
