the ORC with boarding rifle is oversized, you can see a pic in my gallery to compare with the suiss HMG body

Spoiler:

I love those ORC model too but they need new model, as all old pano stuff

That is some beautiful painting and a great colour scheme Sangarn, very nice!

I know it's a separate issue, but what the feth is wrong with people giving the one pic of yours an average '6' for painting?

Black Hand… Mafia… Nice.

The "Black Hand" are most definitely not a mafia of any way, shape, or form.

The Black Hand are the Nomad intelligence/special operations sections. From what information we have at the moment it is a joint effort by all the Nomad ships, originally founded by the Mexican General at the outset of the Nomad ships declaring their independence.

OOoohh... I see. so some Spec-Op types... weird though.. here in America the Mexican Mafia or Eme is also the black hand... I figured it was these guys IN Space Ese!

Black hand… Mexican origins… Nomad Prison Ship… you can see my confusion right? That’s too much real world. Crime syndicate also fits with Nomads… Being of Chicano descent that’s what come to my mind. I’m sure the models will be really cool.

Nomad Theme Song: El-P - Habeas Corpses “Beneath the body armor and weaponry, my heart quietly thumps and whispers. Drop the guns and grab her, now's the time to make your run. Sitting in my transport as we slip through traffic veins”

Of all that news Vedic has me the most excited. Asuras, Nagas, Garuda, Dakini, Dasyus and Maruts are I believe (I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong) all Vedit… and all the Aleph I own fit into that sectorial.
I love The Mahabharata and Ramayana truly epic. Makes sense they’d call the sectorial Vedic.

Kanluwen What sectorial are you excited about and who fits in it?

Sangarn
Your PanO models are the PanO I love the most. I DLd those pics from Google or somewhere along time ago very inspiring, matter of that's why I cut up my Orc troops.
All of your work is clean and well laid out. All respect where respect is due.

The Black Hand, again, is not one specific group.

It was founded by the Mexican General but is drawn from all of the Nomad ships. We have no clue right now how it is going to work.

The whole biomechanical look of the Tohaa has been odd from the beginnig. I was hoping for more organic shapes and something that made it look alive.

Instead, we get orange glowing chainmail with armor plates.

Honestly, it looks amazing taken out of context; all Infinity models do. It just doesn't convey enough of the biological aspect, I think.

I think I would have just rather seen them fielding something a bit more unique instead of just aping humanity's TAGs. These guys are supposed to be biotech masters. A giant bipedal beetle like the things CA have would've been kind of neat instead.

The "giant bipedal beetles" are actual creatures similar to the Chaksa(slightly tampered with but otherwise left alone), not TAGs.

The Sphinx and Raicho, both of CA's TAGs, actually are similar to humanity's TAGs.
I think one issue you seem to be having is the idea that it has to 'be unique' or that the Tohaa would not come up with a bipedal assault platform themselves. It's a reasonable complaint and I can understand it but for myself?
I think the Symbiont Armor+Viral CCW/Spitfire, 2x Flammenspear, Nanopulser and it coming with G: Synchronized Chaksa Perifical toting a Light Shotgun and Flash Grenades make it fairly unique.

The Tohaa may have a unique mechanic with their symbiont TAG, but aesthetically it looks like the same thing all the humans are doing: upscaled heavy infantry.

The Marghariba Guard (sp?) is really unique with its hooks game mechanic and its overall design aesthetically. Nobody else has a spider-tank.

I was hoping the Gorgos was going to be something truly alien and./or biological in some way. Maybe no eyes. Maybe no harsh corners. All the masters of biotechnology could come up with is taking their glowing chainmail parts and putting them on an upscaled Ectros.

Give it a palette-swap and remove the glowy chainmail and it could easily pass off as a human TAG. You couldn't say the same of the Sphinx.

And that makes since, why would they reinvent the wheel, when the Tohaa could just grow what they normal use to a bigger state, and use that.

You could not say the same of the Sphinx yet. The Gecko might change that.

With that said, the Sphinx is essentially a miniaturized Cutter.

Post by: PsychoticStorm

The point of the upscale human form is to have a close support option for the infantry units that can follow them in rough situations that normal vehicles would not be able to cope with.

Maghariba is unique in its antiquity, its a really old version of Human TAGs that is more of a vehicle than a TAG, the PanO TAGs are more advanced than the Nomads because their physique is closer to the human making their controller more natural to control them, likewise Combined TAG that are not beings themselves like the Avatar and the Cacuda are following this pattern.

The Warstore is now taking preorders on the Infinity Bootleg range and have prices for them.

The Maghariba Guard and Lizard Pilots are $13.99 each.
Joe Turner, Tech-Bee, and O-Yoroi are $38.99 each.

They are listed as "August releases" but considering that the July releases were supposed to be out July 17th and were not out until July 31st, I would not hold my breath on them actually coming out in August.

I'm going to look on the bright side and just consider August as a relatively inexpensive month for me.

Those are pretty steep prices, but I guess that the target audience for this kind of thing is ready to pay them. I know that my idea of getting some of those to paint has been laid to rest.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/05 15:57:00

Post by: Kanluwen

I should add that those prices are discounted.

The MSRP listing is:
$17.48 for the Guard and Lizard Pilots
$48.53 for the rest of them.

I will be very interested to see if these are as successful as CB hopes. I have a sneaking suspicion that they will be successful, but how successful remains to be seen.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/05 16:13:24

Post by: Absolutionis

The prices are not unreasonable considering the amount of material and such they contain.

It's $48.50 for the large models. This is less than the price of a TAG ($58.50). Considering the bbotleg TAG models are pretty much full TAGs with the legs missing and additional detail bits like human figures, opened cockpits, and fiddly bits, it's quite reasonable.

It's $17.50 for the small models. Rather high, which is difficult to explain. Most of the smallest single models are $13.00 at most. The only comparable price point I could find was Izzat Beg (Haqqi Kum Biker Character) at also $17.50.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/05 17:06:18

Post by: heartserenade

I guess they're also counting the extra parts (both pilots are sitting or is being supported by a piece of metal), if CB is mostly counting the price of materials. I still think it's fairly reasonable, although a bit on the high side.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/05 18:00:54

Post by: PsychoticStorm

CB prices the models according to the manufacturing costs, not points, unit effectiveness or other non physical reason.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/05 18:22:26

Post by: Absolutionis

They tend to count materials most of the time, or at least "classification" of the model.

Individual standard infantry models are $12.50
Bulky infantry and larger individuals are $13.50-ish
SpecOps with their weapon sprue are $15.19
4-model boxed sets of similar models are $37.50-ish
Double-packs of medium-sized models are $41.78
TAGs are $58.63

Aside from some oddballs, they really don't break from this paradigm. The very elite and specialized Odalisque with Spitfire costs the same as a old-model heavy-armored Janissary which costs the same as a single-model Ghulam. Even Saladin with all his special characterness is the same price as the aforementioned.

I don't think so. As far as I'm aware the nations represented in Ariadna fell from power since the original expeditions were lost and aren't really relevant any more.

The Americans that were on the Aridna ships held onto their national identity and pride. The ones on Earth exhibited a fall from power and were integrated into PanO once it rose to power to match Yu Jing. Many of the Americans in PanO identify themselves as members of PanO even though their 'ancestry' is American.

Post by: Kalamadea

In Infinity, USA has completely collapsed in on itself economically after majorly overextending it's influence during the 21st century (all of this was written a few years before the ACTUAL economic collapse BTW). Ariadne was a colony ship sent through the first wormhole discovered as a final attempt at relevancy by the former superpowers: a joint venture between US, Russia and the UK. Wormhole closed behind the ship (spoiler alert: the Tohaa did it) and the colonists had to go it alone on a very dangerous planet with no support for 100 years till the wormhole opened back up. Lots of US, lots of russians, lots of British/Scottish, not a lot of technological advances.

Panoceania looks like it should be US based at a glance, but actually started with Australia teaming up with a lot of Indonesian and South American countries since NATO was completely useless by that point. A lot of the smaller European countries saw what was happening and joined in as well. No US in Panoceania (edit: they may have joined later as a very minor player, but they don't have any influence at all anymore)

Yu Jing is basically all of Asia united under China. No US at all.

Haqqislam is an offshoot of Islam that wanted to go back to the old Persian Empire style of things where the Middle East was the center of the civilised world, a place of knowlege and enlightenment, so they went off and started their own world. Technically some US since NASA needed a new home after complete economic collapse and Haqqislam needed rocket scientists to get them off planet. Haqqislam welcomes anybody that is useful and will convert

Nomads are all the dissidents and anarchists that hate the supercomputer-run version of the UN, so they work the starships that transport the goods from planet to planet. No US specifically, but one of the main Nomad nation/ships was started by a former Mexican nationalist general who started a prison revolution or something like that.

Aleph is basically the computer-run United Nations, except a lot more effective. All of the Aleph people aren't actually people at all, they're recreations of historical figures or subroutines of the computer that are given a personality and a cloned/created/artificial body. Lots of interesting "what makes something alive? what gives them a soul? are they truly sentient?" type stories could revolve around them, and are implied, but there's not enough fiction in the setting yet to really delve into it in depth. Very Ghost in the Shell. very The Matrix. Very not US.

Combined and Tohaa are both aliens. Lots of neat info, but most definitely not US.

Come on damn it!

Am so excited about the Gecko..

In the meantime, anyone reckon it's plausible to bend the arm of the Gecko around and move the weapon around into it's hand?

(Although I do much prefer the pilot in this one to Cordelia, even if she doesn't have the 'dat ass' pose of the artwork)

Cordelia isn't a pilot though. She's a separate entity to Scarface and they both have to be fielded at the same time while the Anaconda Pilot is to represent the pilot having dismounted/ejected.

If the Gecko and Iguana are not in there, I am going to be highly irked.

During Infinity Week, Carlos explicitly stated "The Iguana and Gecko both are in the Art Book" after having mentioned that the Gorgos was as well.

Edit note:
I'm not going to be supermad to the point of writing hate mails, but I'll be angry ranting for maybe fifteen minutes. Twenty if I'm really angry!

I think more likely that people are busy with the Infinity Tournament and the O-12 guys are superbusy with the Battlefoam booth.

Also eagerly awaiting Gecko and Iguana news. Jockey(my pilot) needs more toys.

Hah. The tail is an awesomely nice touch.

The Draigo-style backpack belt-feed is also nice.

It's good to see a TAG that isn't just a 3-up of a generic HI.

The tail makes me so happy.
I can paint an Iguana to look like Godzilla and feel completely justified.

Damn, that Gecko is really cool. If it actually turns out to be posed like that artwork, I may have found my very first TAG purchase.

Gecko is less of a TAG and more of a Superheavy Infantry.

That said, if it holds to what they said the Gecko is going to come in a double box.

INFINITY News & Rumors - September Releases on pg. 414! @ 2013/08/17 06:38:23

Post by: Barzam

So two Geckos per box? That sounds like a good deal to me. What's that silhouette there shown to the right of it in the size comparison? I don't recognize it.

Barzam - guessing it might be the Heavy Infantry guy who ejects from the Iguana when it is destroyed? One of the cool features of that TAG.

Oh my.. sorry for my language but that is one of the coolest things I have seen for some time! !

Can't wait to see the original of that Jotum/Iguana art..

Absolutely love the concept for the Gecko.. now to start building a space craft terrain board, complete with external vacuum area !

Sad to see the Antenociti Komodo miniature I've been using as the Iguana is completely the wrong scale..

OH MY IGUANA!

Always knew that TAG was going to be special, but wow. The tail really does make it. CB is at their best when there are little flights of fancy tucked into their designs.

The Gecko is pretty cool. I hope it's relatively-easily posable/convertable for the Corregidor folks who will want to field 4 or 5 or whatever the crazy AVA is.

Geckos will play interestingly. 3 STR but barely more armor than most HI... it will be like having a whole bunch of Su-Jians running around the table. Not as fast, mind you, but about the same level of offense, and the same cost.

GECKO 2 Combi Rifles, Chain-colt, Panzerfaust / . (1 | 54)

Geckos will play interestingly. 3 STR but barely more armor than most HI... it will be like having a whole bunch of Su-Jians running around the table. Not as fast, mind you, but about the same level of offense, and the same cost.

The interesting thing will be maneuvering the Geckos for kills.
Taking a Blitzen Gecko for every Panzerfaust Gecko opens some intriguing avenues of "Pewpew!".

With the QK, I'm thinking that the intention is to start phasing out some SKUs from blisters.

I think it fair to have no real 'new' sculpts considering there are very few Sectorials that have 3 boxed sets(Druze, Kaplan, Odalisque) for their units and a fourth boxed set slated(Sekban)--not including Sectorial starter boxes.

Morat Aggression Force starter box is supposed to be out November/December of this year.
The MAF contents, by the way, are from left to right:
Vanguard, Vanguard, Oznat, Suryat, Raktorak, and a third Vanguard.
Weapons have not been mentioned yet.

You don't like the Fonzie "eyyyy!" pose?!?!

...neither do I. It's pretty much the reason I had to rebend/resculpt some of the Agema's arm to have him holding the weapon rather than striking a pose. It's also why I hate the Haqqi Fonzie Hafza with Spitfire; I glued a SpecOps Spitfire onto the back of the unarmed Hafza and called it a day.

I'm less irked by the Hafza with Spitfire but that is simply because it is easy to imagine the Hafza as laying down cover fire with the Spitfire.

You cannot really do that with a HRL.

Basically the box comes with 2 models, each meant to lead a 300pts force, in a fluff based missions. The mission will like be like Paradiso, were they give you the faction and units you should take for true to fluff forces. But, could play any force you want instead. The charaters are also said to be important figure in Infinity fluff, and some will make good VIPs.

From Reddragon on the Official Forums:
Have a little more time to post some more info about the Dire Foes boxes now that the tournament is over.

There will be 3 models in each box. A spec ops for each faction plus a VIP that has relevance to each scenario. Because the models are characters and not spec-ops, they are completely valid for everyday play and ITS. Each one coming out is the opposite sex of the current line of spec-ops and can be used in that capacity as well. They are:

ALEPH (Trasimedes) and Nomads (Lupe Balboa)
Tohaa (Aelis Keesan) and Shasvastii (Hasht)
Morat (Anyat) and PanO (Bipandra)
PanO (Konstantinos/Psychotic Storm) and Haqqislam (Yasbir)
Ariadna (Isobel Mcgregor) and JSA (Yurika Oda)

And look, there's our very own Psychotic Storm posing next to his Spec Ops!
(Congrats PS! You're famous! )

Also, here are the August releases:

Well, considering it reduces its targets armor to 0, imaging firing at a TAG with that Combi Rifle. ARM 10? Nope. ARM 0 now. Take a few wounds. Almost like a mono round. Except I don't think it will do the autofill. Although getting rid of the ARM almost will do that with a lot of models.

That Gecko is also real nice. Might buy with Scarface if I wish to expand my QK. AND THAT GUI FENG AND INDIGO. I wish the Haqqislam one would appeal to me more: I'm just not that into the Hassassin look, at least if t's repeated all over the army.

Sometimes CB like to base models on people/characters from other media. For example, the 4 Aconticimento regulars are based on the 4 main characters from Lost, and the Maghariba Guard pilot is meant to be based on a Bollywood actor.

Not surprised a fan of pop culture is a fan of Game of Thrones, so it was only a matter of time for an Infinity fig to be based on a character from it.

You have just seen the pictures of Atalanta and the two female Kamael models, right? Atalanta is a great looking sniper model and the first female one in a while that i can remember that isn't just posing out with her gun. The artwork will always be slightly more 'cheesecakey' than the models so lets wait and see what the models are like first, eh?

Yes, Carlos commented in one of those BoW videos that the guy who does the concept art (I forget his name) is a massive anime fan, and so they carry that aesthetic. Then, each sculptor (tending to be one per faction, so each faction develops its own personality rather than the same themes re-occurring) adapts that concept art - you often end up with something in-between that original concept, the description of the unit as written in the background, and the sculptors interpretation.

But in answer to your question SilverMk2 - no! This has pretty much been the style of Infinity since the beginning, but it's just now they are seemingly getting better at it..

Absolutely stoked by some of these new releases the art for them looks incredible. My only disappoint is that unfortunate Fusilier Angus (got to love that ****-eating grin ) isn't one of the 'dire foes'

More likely, they're using Angus as the basis of conceptualizing the redone Fusiliers.

If you look all the SpecOps from the Dire Foes have the "Dire Foes" logo underneath, and the VIPs are unarmed models.

Beyhan Resources Ltd(purportedly one of the upcoming Mercenary Sectorial lists allowing for fully ITS legal Mercenary forces)
I think this one has been labeled before as the Caliphate insignia.
Russariadna.
White Star Mercenary Company
I think this is the Yu Jing's Invincible Army
From Guges:
That Yu Jing symbol is definitely for the Invincible Army and it seems like there might be some cross over between them and the Svarlaheima sectorial.

All I know is that the Haqqislam and Yu Jing symbols use roughly the same color palettes and always confuse me.

I'm curious to see if the Gecko ends up getting the mini-me arms as I'm a bit more persistant at trying to spot them after missing them on the Anaconda. It looks like one pic definitely has them.

No arms? Could just be the positioning though and shadowed lighting over the area with the lighter spot being the arms. Either way, looks pretty cool.

Mini-me arms

Also, are the symbols for new subfactions within the main ones? The international and unique nomenclature of the game is a bit hard for an outsider to discern.

Also, are Infinity minis always metal or do they use resin/PVC for some of the bigger ones like TAGs?

They're all metal.

I've got a post over on the official Infinity forums about the slave arms, as I do not even see the attachment point in the "final artwork" from the Infinity Artbook.

All Infinity models are metal. I believe they've mentioned wanting to keep all production in-house so that would mean any kind of plastic would be unlikely in the near future.

The symbols in those pictures are basically purely aesthetic for the most part. The rules and unit profiles dictate availability.

However, they are there for a reason.

The top symbol is the faction symbol: Nomads.
The middle symbol is the sectorial (subfaction) symbol: Corregidor Jurisdictional Command
The bottom symbol is the unit's unique symbol: Gecko

Clarification: I'm talking about the bottom picture.

Very nice stuff coming along. Yay!

Where does one find this Guges page and what info do we have on the NCA box? I saw it mentioned earlier but did not find more concrete information. My searchFu seems weak at the moment. Thanks!

Guges is a poster on the official Infinity forum. I pulled all the photos from those threads.

The info we have on the NCA box is "It's coming" and "there's a new unit type".

Saphos, got a bit more info on the NCA for you.

Posted by "Guarda de Assaulto" on the official Infinity forums:

I know a lot of folks likely already read the Gen Con thread... But I asked Carlos at the seminar and it looks like the new NCA unit will be a PanO analogue to the Wild Cats; a linkable unit with an emphasis on objective based play and a weapon that fires mines at range =)

There was talk awhile back about "redoing" the older TAGs (especially the Squalo chassis TAGs) to match the newer TAGs.

Guess there was some truth to that.

For all the other newbies like me who are reading the thread, Carlos (one of the main guys at Corvus Belli apparantly as he keeps showing up in youtube videos) mentioned that the rules will be getting some sort of a big update next year around this time. That might be old news for Infinity diehards (who may be playtesting the rules as we type) but that sounds like a good time to get into the game. I realize some or all the rules are a free download (I don't know how the setting books like Paradiso affect or interact with those core rules) but having hopefully one place to look for the rules will be nice.

Really? I have both the armoured cav and cutter sitting in my painting pile ATM; TBH they look good 'enough' to me.
Redone fusilliers, ORCs and most especially: Croc-men would be much higher on my list (together with auxilia with decently-sized guns...) in PanO alone.

And please warboss, don't get alpharius started about that Jotum in his sig.
...Again...

As to your edit: the rules are free via the wiki, the stats via the army builder and the ITS (tourney) scenarios via CB's own downloads section on their website.
The only thing to buy a book for is the paradiso campaign. I don't have the book myself (haven't been playing long enough to get fed up with either straight-up annihilation or ITS scenarios, really!) but it's rumoured to not be the most balanced bit of greatness they've ever put out - to put it mildly.
So basically, the books are something you buy for fluff and pictures.
That whole rules update thing is complete news to me - actually not all that happy about it, it works fine now IMO.

I don't have a link right now but it's in a 10-15 minute video from Team Convenant on youtube. Just search gencon and it should be one of the videos uploaded in the past day or two. Carlos was fairly tight lipped but stressed that some evolution of the rules is inbound next year.

Morat Starter box is before the end of this year.
Iguana and Tikbalang as well, alongside of Seraph(supposedly).

Gecko is next year.

Daturazi are next year.

Wow.. they're previewing stuff for next year and they're only having back to back 75% growth each year according to the youtube video?? Someone needs to tell them before they run the company into the ground that the key to success is to only announce things 2 weeks ahead of time (along with shoddy legal shenanigans and not advertising of course!). I'm a bit sad to see the Gecko coming out next year but realistically (for me personally) it's probably a good thing. I'm expecting robotech to largely take up my hobby time until about then anyways.

It could theoretically be this year--but we would have seen concept art by now if that were the case.
If I had to ballpark it?
I would say this will most likely be a June release of 2014 at the earliest.

I had not seen anything about a book as of right now, but if you saw something about it--post it up!

So far, we know that the NCA unit is in their starter box and "is similar to the Wildcats" in that it adds linkable specialists who utilize a mine launching device.
The Oznat is the only one with the "K1 Combi Rifle" that we know of so far--and given that it was not an option in "Campaign: Paradiso", it might not actually be in a new book but rather a web update.

That how CB dose it, release unit from the new books with web updates, human sphere we got unit almost 2 years before the book they showed up in. I do wonder how much more the "K1" Oznat will cost, the thing must have a SWC to, right. Damn this year and next are are going to be costly, but my wallet can't cry if it never see my money.

Well, the Gecko and Iguana look fantastic (also, nice to see them using more digital sculpting). And news the Acheron Falls will be giving Yu Jing both the Tian Di Frontier and the Cháng Shèng Jūn (Invincible Army) has me quite excited to see that one come out (finally a sectorial where I can spam Shang Ji and field Hac Tao/Daofei).

I'm also kind of glad to hear they are possibly doing another rules overhaul. While the game is pretty well tuned, I think we've all gotten to know the warts pretty well. If nothing else, a bit of a weapon re-balance (read: HMG nerf) wouldn't be too bad. And point tweaks or unit-reworks wouldn't go amiss either. I hope that is what they are on about, I'd definitely look forward to a new edition of Infinity. I guess we'll find out what they mean next summer though.

The thing that makes the Iguana doubleplusawesome in my book is that it has a repeater. A repeater with Nomad hackers behind it. So if you can close with another TAG, say a Cutter or a Guijia, they are in way more trouble than a mere HMG might suggest.

Other stuff:

The Pheasant may look great, but it's so overcosted that even another wonderful model won't redeem the unit. The Pheasant is one of CB's few real balance failures. If you're new to Infinity, trust me: don't buy the sniper if you don't buy models you won't field. (but if you just love pretty models it will probably be epic).

On a similar note regarding the K1 rifle, in the hands of any other game designers I'd be worried about it being potentially unbalancing. But CB have proven themselves able to resist buffing the new shiny at the expense of the older stuff for the most part (unless it's PanO of course). Can't wait to see how that weapon works!

Oh, and the Invincible Army sounds awesome. YJ were originally supposed to lead the Sphere in Heavy Infantry quality and quantity, while PanO had the best TAGs. That went by the wayside with the Aquila and the various MO knights. Maybe the Invincible Army will redress the situation a bit...

Yeah, for now (until CB give them the Vet. Kazak/Suryat treatment) they are very good models for Spec-ops in your ISS lists. Hell, after trying to get it to work for a while I have finally given up on the Crane as well. The Imperial Agents kind of highlight the weakness of the Infinity point system. It is pretty common in most point cost systems that use static values for abilities and equipment. Ultimate Warzone has something similar: a unit with one wound and a bunch of special rules that costs an arm and a leg.

I really hope they are on CB's radar. I adore the concept of them (bad arse Confucian gentlemen) and the style... but there are few reasons I would take either as is anymore.

Eh, I think it is pretty close between the two (I still prefer the Daofei to the Aquila; though I acknowledge that in a fight between the two, the Aquila has it in the bag). At the very least, I hope this balloons our HI variety and gives us more interesting specialist suits. But this is the sectorial I have been waiting for since before sectorials were a thing. I am so ready for an HI-heavy army in Yu Jing (apparently it also gets to take Guileng as well, which makes me happy; my Daofei always needs its little buddy).

Yu Jing and PanOceania are actually supposed to be two different sides of the same coin when it comes to HI.

YJ has the quantity while PanO has the quality.

What's "Acheron Falls"? The title of the next book?

This is going to be a pain in the ass. I have stuff of a lot of armies. The only ones I don't have anything are PanO, CA and Tohaa. I've been trying to not to fall into Tohaa, because I really like the models. But with the CA... the latest Shasvastii models are awesome and if the new Morats are going to look like that...

First world problems.

Working title of the next book, if I'm not mistaken. There's a list of (largely carlos-confirmed!) new sectorials a few pages back IIRC. Svarlaheima and Varuna for PanO, EI and something less interesting for CA, the ones mentioned above; it sounds like rather a lot to stuff into one book but an awkwardly large part of it sounds entirely too awesome to pass up on, indeed.

Look at it this way though: as long as you can paint two or three box sets and five blisters per month, eventually you'll catch up with the entirety of the infinity range

I knew about the following sectorials, they were mostly hinted in last year's GenCon IIRC. But I haden't heard about the title of the book, thanks!

Sorry but the guy selling the Anaconda for 99 bucks is a nutjob, sure tis pretty but there are no rules for it and most likely there won't be until the actual model comes out. The model itself will only be around 50 bucks when it does come out.

It's not even a con exclusive. It's just an early release of a model that doesn't have rules yet.

Infinity has never had con exclusives, they just have had Tournament Rewards, Preorder Rewards, Early Convention Releases, and an abortion. All of those "special" models have been available to the public.

The same guy is selling Miranda Ashcroft for about the same price as the Artbook that it comes with: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gencon-13-Infinity-Authorized-Bounty-Hunter-Exclusive-Model-Miranda-Ashcroft-/111147312510?pt=Games_US&hash=item19e0e5657e
Miranda+Artbook is still available for preorder right now.

EDIT: You know what's strange? Is that an Aleph-looking Symbol on Miranda?
EDIT2: Nevermind. It's just a discolored "Authorized Bounty Hunter" symbol.

Those Dire Foes characters clearly won't be equipped with all those weapons, and they're the only special character concepts I've seen showing so many weapons.

I wonder if these Dire Foes sets will come with an alternate set of Weapons-on-Sprue. The Chandra Aleph sprue, for one, has a Shotgun, Sniper, and Spitfire. Chandra Transimides has none of those weapons displayed.

Oh, is that what that image is of. It doesn't look quite so much like a giant ORC suit anymore.

I really hope we see some new Kamau molds with this Varuna Sectorial comin gout. I really like their concept and their designs, but the existing models are just so blah.

Also, I looked through Guges' photo thread, he's got pics of the new Morat renders. It seems they've totally redesigned their faces. They look way more ape-like now. They almost look like the Brutes from Halo. I'm pleased to see them going with digital sculpts, but just a little disappointed by the face redesign. Also, there's a render of Anyat. She looks pretty damn cool.

I like the new face redesign.

I actually think the Kamau sculpts are still quite nice, certainly I would put them behind the Croc Men and Joan of Arc in needing a re-sculpt

The hacker I don't have too much of a problem with other than the fact that she needs some kind of wall to be up against, otherwise her pose just looks strange. Sculpt-wise, she's great. The male Kamau though is the one I really have a problem with. His gun looks huge and his sculpt overall comes off looking mushy to me. I won't deny that Joan of Arc and the Croc Men need work though. Same with the Fusiliers and in general a lot of Pano's light infantry.

What is the smaller TAG/HI in the render with the Iguana? I thought it was the pilot, but the base looks more like a 40mm and it shares enough features that I thought it was a Gecko (and was very disappointed). Now I've looked back at the artwork and especially the size comparison silhouette and it can't be the Gecko, it's way too small and although the chest and shoulders are similar to the Gecko, the collar/head is all wrong as are the legs/feet. I'm back to thinking it is some sort of the ejected pilot that becomes an HI. Anybody know more?

When the pilot is ejected from the Iguana, he actually DOES become a HI.

One thing I can't quite find specifically described: these boxes are designed to be used with certain scenarios, right? Some rather specific ones, even. Besides that, there's rules for the models in there (or are these just to be used with spec-ops profiles alone)?
How are these scenarios distributed? Just online, or a piece of paper in the box (that would NOT be good, given how some boxes at certain FLGSes can look after a while on the shelves )

But IIRC the characters, while being based on Spec-Ops, are characters with fixed profiles as the existing in the books, and would be vaild for being used in normal games and even ITS.

On the scenarios I've read both versions. Some people saying it's a digital download and some people saying it's a booklet in the box.

Dire foes will be a two operatives box plus a VIP model paired as you have seen them paired in the artwork, they are "veteran" specops, this means they are special characters and part of the arm list official for tournaments and unchangeable in campaigns.

Each pair will come with a scenario designed for a 300 pts game pairing the two characters and including the VIP.

I am not sure witch box will include witch VIP except the only really obvious one Bipandra and Anyat have Angus as their VIP, that will be an interesting scenario.

Geckos will probably take some time, the initial idea was to release a box of two witch is proving challenging, but still try to achieve that.

Hrm... don't know about that. FFG had a hell of a reveal with the new capitol ships along with selling wave 3. Different genres but I don't think its fair to say CB "won" the convention even though they did show off some impressive stuff... They may have "won" your undivided attention though.

I've spent much more time in this thread and especially xwing than robotech in the past months. Stuff is still on schedule supposedly but the company keeps making constant easily preventable and unfriendly missteps. I keep telling myself that the most important thing is getting the minis in the end at the quality previewed and that these intermediate bumps are just annoying temporary setbacks.

The possibility of Robotech being delayed and my finishing of my 40k and Heavy Gear hobby projects for the forseeable future has me looking at other games. The prices of infinity turned me off when it initially came out but now they're not as outrageous now (they started high but haven't risen much). The cheesecake anime nature didn't appeal too much to me but the variety of styles has increased as well over the years. The more recent TAGs like scarface and anaconda have sparked my interest against despite the little mini-me arms. They haven't made me excited enough to jump in (especially with new rules apparently coming next summer) but the Gecko might depending on the sculpt.

Or more likely the "Human Sphere" book we known about for a year. The one with 2 new sectional per faction, and new rules, skill, and equipment. Sound like a huge update to me.

Infinity rules are well tuned and work fine, I am not sure how the "new rules" thing came up, in any case the game rules will not see a drastic change, so anybody learning to play the game now, will still know how to play the game in a years time.

Ultimately it doesn't really matter to me, but I've always been curious about just how much cost really factors in for people when it comes to Infinity.

When you compare them to GW, they compare favorably.

But then, so do a lot of other companies' efforts.

Free rules help a lot.

I mean, how much 40K would $150 get you vs. Infinity - especially in terms of truly playable forces?

Ultimately I think it comes down more to aesthetics, materials (metal remains a turn off for many) and ease of finding opponents.

Hopefully as CB continues to experience such massive growth one of those things will become less of a problem.

At least that's what I'm hoping for!

There were similar sort of comments before Human Sphere came out i.e. game changing new rules etc. I doubt if CB will be doing a full re-write of the rules that are basically the same as the original rule book.

Nothing noteworthy regarding next years upcoming rulebook. He said that players expecting new rules and rules tweaks would both be happy. Carlos did say Dire Foes will have special missions that will be released Soon™

Otherwise it was 1/4 showing off the artbook, 1/4 sales pitch, 1/4 talking about the US market and 1/4 talking about the new rulebook.

He did mention that the rapid growth they saw in the last 2 years is contributing to the supply problems and the line has over 500 models now. Also a blurb about Corvus Belli's original start as a historical mini manufacturer and they were partly inspired by Rackham.

very interesting stuff Alph, thanks for posting!

Have signed up for the Warcors newsletter - I don't organise anything like enough events to qualify (you need to do one per month) but I've run a few events in the past and CB are really great for supporting with loads of free stuff to give out at them.

Hopefully this will really help the game to gather pace, but as Kan and others on here have said they really need to ensure the supply network (chiefly in the US) can keep up the pace.

New Bootlegs are now available for pre-order at Wayland Games, starting from £10.58 for the Maghariba and Lizard pilots with an expected shipping date of 30th August.

I'm considering doing it myself, down here in the South Coast Massachusetts area, but I need more info first.

One 'event' a month? Surely that can't be...one tournament a month?!?

That would be... hard to accomplish in many places.

And would probably lead to burnout pretty quickly too...

That would be... hard to accomplish in many places.

And would probably lead to burnout pretty quickly too...

AFAIK it counts demos and other activities as painting challenges. I think they are thinking in the new events they are developing for 2014 ITS season.

Infinity rules are well tuned and work fine, I am not sure how the "new rules" thing came up, in any case the game rules will not see a drastic change, so anybody learning to play the game now, will still know how to play the game in a years time.

Hey PS-

Respectful counterpoint here. Interestingly enough we were discussing this very issue last night with a returning GenCon player from our local group.

Yes, the Infinity rules are quite well-tuned, including the core mechanics (very tight curve effects), and the balance between forces.

However, even with skilled players there are a LOT of turn-one-player-one beatdowns, enough to be Infinity's one major defect from many players' point of view. From TAGs with HGLs to massed AD troops to Nomad GML, there are a fair number of unbalancing strategies that shorten the game and make it less fun, and most of these are turn-one killers. Yes, if you survive those cheap-shots you will generally be able to maul the other player. But surviving them is really really difficult in several notable cases (see aforementioned list). But beyond discouraging that sort of play from a meta level, there's not really a good mechanism to prevent the high number of turn-one-player-on beatdowns, especially if skill levels differ.

A few small tweaks might help balance those out. Things like preventing the use of AD 2 or 3 by the first player on their first turn (a disadvantage that would help balance out the massive first-turn advantage on a 4x4 table). Or like making indirect fire slightly less lethal (+3 ARM on saves against indirect fire, say). Small stuff like that.

It's very likely that the designer(s?) already have a decent list of such possible improvements that have emerged over the years, which would shorten the time required to design, test, and publish them. Given the obvious unified vision behind Infinity's ruleset (one of its very strong points), I think the "New rules would take too much developer time!" argument is invalid. The core materials for some helpful tweaks (a rewrite is not needed, just tweaks) are probably already created. And given the way that CB bundles rules and new units in their various books, they will probably come out with Acheron Falls or whatever the next book may be. Just IMO, but an opinion shared by a bunch of my fellow Infinity-fans.

That said, you eventually reach Full Thrust levels of cross-referencing, making a new edition something you need for consolidation alone. Hell, with the current amount of errata and clarifications available (and updates from Human Sphere and Paradiso), I think Acheron Falls may finally push it to the point where they need everything consolidated back in to one document (not the army lists, that is asking a bit too much). But having all of the new and updated rule inline with the core rules (plus a few extra tweaks as they did in the last edition update) would make things a lot friendlier for new players.

My guess is we will probably see some kind of consolidation book either a bit before the next splat-book or some time after. They have already been doing a lot of the updating and fixing using the Wiki and various releases. But it is getting to the point where those who aren't wired during their games have to reference a lot of material during play.

I think a 3rd Edition would be a good plan at some point. Introduce the fixes and tweaks from the FAQ/Errata and source books in to core and fix some of the current endemic problems with the game (as they did with 2nd Edition when they tweaked things to make striking in to deployment zones harder). I agree with Savnock that the game still has a few degenerative strategies (mostly first-turn maulings) that could use some core fixes as well as a few point-costing issues (MULTI Rifles being still fairly under-powered for the price, HMGs being too good for the price in most cases, etc.).

And to say nothing of a few units in need of tweaking and updating due to running in to hiccups in the point system (though those are easy enough to handle in new books as they have been doing).

But after Acheron Falls drops, I think we will be in need of a new edition just to keep the core rules straight and centred. I don't know how my group would manage without me and my tablet looking for wiki entries during games.

It will most likely be something like the other programs that are out there. 1 Event a month will most likely be demos, leagues, campaigns, tournaments, and painting competitions at the "most". At least, it will be "weekly infinity night".

I'm actually with you, I don't think a 3rd edition is coming.

But to date, from the second ed core book through Human Sphere and Paradise, rules additions have mostly been just that- additions. Little add-ons. Not much alteration/refactoring of the central rules.

I'm guessing that a slightly-more-pervasive change is coming, although not a full new edition. Some tweaks to the initiative process, or a set of pretty broad changes to things like AD etc. (or possibly just one or two central mechanics like Initiative). Not a full rewrite, but a lot more than adding things like CaseVac and Haris.

Also, here's another conjecture/hope: If they add new sectorials that use the best of the units that are currently only available in "vanilla" lists right now (and which make those lists worth fielding), there will be little reason left to field "vanilla". Things like Hac Tao or Tankhunters. So they may either add more incentive to the vanilla lists (like a special rule giving some advantage), or they may add link teams to vanilla lists. That's an advance that's not hard to see as pretty likely.

...Pure conjecture, but Infinity has followed a certain arc so far, and we could see some of the Paradiso stuff coming (like more than one link team in some armies).

No need to guess CB said all units in the first 2 books were planned with sectionals in mind. Only the Exrah didn't sell good enough to for this plan (still I hope there get one, they get my money). Haris was also said was getting wider use sometime in the future. But if you think AD and initative need changing, you might need to think about table layout. They don't need changing, hell AD just need 1 line added to end the problem it seem to cause one way or the other, dispite nearly everyone playing it the right ways any ways.

Very well spotted!

Savnock - think you are right in that a consolidation of the rules might be coming at some point, but I would be very surprised if there were any more than cursory changes. Like you say maybe a few of the nastier rules combinations might be curtailed, but you have to realise in a lot of cases these are intentional. All of the things that can be so dangerous on the first few turns can be defended against, even countered in a lot of cases by a seasoned player, and one of the great things about Infinity (and I think why it is such a dynamic and tactical game) is having a suite of offensive and counter-moves ready for what your opponent is going to bring to the game. As such I don't think a lot of people would want them removed.. some would view it as the equivalent of adding an 'auto guard' feature to Street Fighter 2 or something

I think consolidating the rules might be a good idea. You've got the Core rules in the 2nd edition book, the Link team rules and additional rules that came with Human Sphere, then the Campaign and XP rules and additional rules that came with Paradiso, then any alterations made by FAQ's. The wiki is a great resource, and I know there's some great player amde consolidated rulesets around as well, but getting it all in one big book would be very helpful.

I'm sure players wouldn't mind if Acheron Falls was slightly thicker, maybe $10 more than usual, but had all rules (minus the specific Paradiso campaign) and complete army lists consolidated in it. I know I'd gladly pay more for a book like that.

What I say is, that no matter what tweaks or improvements may happen, the core of the Infinity rules will not change, nor will the balance, so waiting to see what will the announcement be in a years time, is a pointless fear, the 2nd edition was just an incorporation of FAQ in the rules nothing more.

I am not sure if that particular Asuka model was the inspiration, it could be, but its release at February this year seems too late for it to have a significant impact.

On the other hand, I am sure there will be a plethora of "biker chicks" images around the net posed similarly that could be an inspiration for it.

Starter sets will be the cheerleaders then, mostly?

And then infantry boxes will have the more specialized troops in a group?

I guess I'm a bit confused by your nomenclature.

Got an example of both, moving forward?

Also, the more I think about it, the more I realize I'll probably only ever need 2 Geckos - because I'll want to bring an Iguana along for the ride too!

Though I suppose there will be those times when 3 Geckos would be nice...

I'm imagining a 'space-ship's style terrain board, made from Warmill's specialist ship interior set. Half of the board is the ships internals, the rest the exterior of the ship. The assault force is made up of Nomad Corregidor - 4 Geckos lead the charge on the outside of the ship, and cut through the outside hull while the defence forces inside scurry to prevent them getting to their objective! How awesome would that be?

If you're willing to do a fairly static terrain setup, there's a really good scratchbuild solution that I've seen a couple times for spaceship interiors:

Appliances use very large styrofoam packaging, often about 3'x3'. That makes a good base to tack bits like pieces of a Platformer set on as details. Maybe add a couple other pieces of styro as corridors, etc.- and you've got a ship interior. Basecoat with something thick to protect the styro from spraypaint solvent, then spraypaint or airbrush the whole deal really quickly. Boom, done. You could get a tourney-worthy spaceship interior done in one evening if you work fast.

I did an Aristeia! arena in a similar fashion.

It's a term that refers to the cheaper (points and SWC value) units, usually with a combi-rifle or some such, that can be more effective as order generators than the units that are doing the killing.

Of course even the basic unit with rifle can kill the most powerful unit if the dice (and maybe your tactics) fall right..

Another one you might read is 'ramboing' - where the cheerleaders generate orders for a Rambo who uses all of them to go flying forward, trying to kill everything himself

"Cheerleader" in Infinity refers to basic troops that are taken mostly to fill out a 10 person combat group, as to provide the full amount of orders. They're typically the base rifle trooper of the faction, and are placed defensively in the deployment zone to guard against flankers and air drop. They're rarely activated to attack or advance except in desparation.

In addition to the above: when joined in link teams (most armies can only have one link team on the table at a time) they can actually be pretty effective. As a link, they shoot more accurately and get twice as many shots in ARO. They're better at spotting concealed/camo enemies (Discover rolls), and they move really efficiently (a single order moves all five guys). So yeah, they're grunts- but used effectively they can also be killers.

forgive my noobishness towards the actual game rules, but linking basically just means they function as a squad, taking their activations, movement, and shooting together, right?

Who are the "Cheerleader" units for the various armies then? I thought every figure was supposed to represent a badass special forces guy?

I am not sure about that desperation part, they tend to have an impressive killratio.

In any case, in Infinity models generate an orders pool, according to the situation, some or other units tend to be more effective in giving their order to the pool, rather than keeping it for themselves, usually, but not always, these are light units that tend to be the basic line infantry of the list, hence why the term "cheerleaders" is attributed to them by the community, its quite misleading though and many a novice player has lost because they took the label quite literally.

Almost, The units that can link, can function roughly as one, a model is designated as the leader in each order spend on them and they all follow his actions, meaning they all move when he moves, but when the actual combat short skills are done only the link leader fights, getting bonuses from the rest of the team depending on size, there can be only one link team (exceptions apply to Tohaa and a special skill called Harris but their link teams are the minimal size) and their close proximity can become quite troublesome in the game.

As an example (which I don't think others have posted), the Haqqislam starter has 3 Rifle Ghulam, which are also in a 3 pack by themselves. The Ghulam profile also has a Doctor, Hacker, Panzerfaust, Sniper and HMG.

So, as said, the 3 Rifle Ghulam are in the starter and also as a 3 pack for sale ouside of the starter. Then the Support box which includes the Doctor (and a Najjarun Engineer). There's 4 profiles left, Sniper, Hacker, HMG and Panzerfaust. These will ne in an upcoming box. So to get all Ghulam profiles, you buy either the Starter box or the 3 pack of Rifle Ghulam, the Support box, and the Ghulam box with all of the specialists.

There has been at least one consolidated draft Spanish "rulebook" linked to on the Infinity forums. From the GenCon seminar, the primary play testing is by groups local to CB, so you might expect them to be working from the Spanish versions of the rules. That may just be consolidated convenience document, though.

I know if I were in charge of writing rules for a game, I'd keep things in a consolidated document if I could, instead of spreading text and revisions across two to four different documents.

News summary blog post.

Savnock wrote:However, even with skilled players there are a LOT of turn-one-player-one beatdowns, enough to be Infinity's one major defect from many players' point of view. From TAGs with HGLs to massed AD troops to Nomad GML, there are a fair number of unbalancing strategies that shorten the game and make it less fun, and most of these are turn-one killers.

HGLs if there are not enough buildings over 3.5" high and there are few camo models, yes.
Massed AD troops generally means an Order-starved first turn because all the AD troops' orders got used to walk on/drop in. A couple of AD troops and a big Order Reserve will be much scarier, but that's what Mines, Direct Template Weapons and Total Reaction are for.
Nomad GML-spam will typically get missiles off against two, maybe three targets in their first turn, assuming no enemy Hackers and no targets with Sixth Sense 2. It sucks if one of those takes down a TAG or your LT, but in a 300pt game it's very hard to get a first-turn win.

Spoiler:

At GenCon last week, Bostria from Corvus Belli held a seminar talking about the future of Infinity, with all sorts of interesting bits coming down the pipeline! But first a thank you to Guges from the Infinity Forum who gave me permission to use his photos of the seminar, and a peek at CB's explosive growth of the last few years! As usual, click on any thumbnail to see a bigger image. Thanks also to Doremicom for videoing the seminar and uploading it to YouTube (part 1 of 2 EDIT and now part 2 of 2 as well).

As this is going to be quite a long round-up, here's the section links...

Dire Foes

New Releases

TAG Designs

Warcor Program

Morat Redesign

ITS Season Five

New Releases

Next month's releases include a Yu Jing Pheasant Sniper, Haqqislam Qapu Khalki Starter Pack (all repackaged models), Combined Army Shasvastii Aswuang Spitfire, ALEPH Atalanta Sniper with Spotbot and a Tohaa Kamael box set of four models.

Dire Foes

An interesting slant on releasing more Spec Ops models and some much sought after civilian models, these sets will take the form of two Spec Ops from different factions and a Civvie model plus a scenario based around the Civvie and named versions of the two Spec Ops models.

'Not-Danny' v. 'Pass me another Missile Launcher!'

If you've watched Game of Thrones, Lupe Balboa doesn't need a lot of explanation, and also has promise to be a much better model than the current Vortex Spec Ops model.

Trasimedes, on the other hand, needs a bit of background. There's a long-running occasional comic strip by Alexander Nevsky covering some of the characters in the Infinity universe. A recurring theme of these is the artificial recreation of Achilles being a lech and waving his fair locks at the ladies - usually followed by the world-weary Trasimedes being passed a missile launcher to shoot Achilles and save the ladies, at least until the next backup body is decanted...

A lovely acknowledgement of the fans. :-)

Alien v. Alien

A female Tohaa Spec Ops and 'male' Shasvastii Spec Ops.

Bipandra v. Morat

Bipandra the Fusilier appears in many of the combat examples in the rules, always succeeding where the haplass Angus always fails.

PsychoticStorm v. Yasbir

Panoceania get a third Spec Ops for the Military Orders while Haqqislam get a Hassassin Muyib. In another great bit of fan acknowledgement, Konstantinos is one of the earliest fans of Infinity and does a lot to promote the game - his post count on the official forum is even higher than mine! While Yasbir has been beta testing Infinity with the CB staff from the earliest days and his Hassassin character has also appeared in Alexander Nevsky's strips many times.

Konstantinos seeing the model concept based on him, having travelled to GenCon from Greece!

Isobel v. Yuriko

A female Ariadna Caledonian Spec Ops and female Yu Jing Japanese Spec Ops. I'll be very interested to see how the sculptor of Isobel does the hair.

Civvies/Objectives

Now we get a series of five civilians and/or scenario objective models.

Notably, the Civvies are all pretty women - somewhat mysogynistic but given the large demographic of young male wargamers I can't really fault the commercial reasoning behind it...

The exception, our tireless/luckless Fusilier Angus, like Bipandra a staple of the rulebook's rule examples. With a big and slightly stupid grin...

TAGs

A whole bunch of TAG concepts were shown, including the much-awaited Nomad iguana and powered-armour operator.

Gecko (Nomad mini-TAG):

Plus, from the Datasphere forum the O12 podcast Facebook page, the Gecko as seen in the new Art Book:

Tohaa Gorgos:

Nomad Iguana & Operator, hopefully the Operator is still just a dolly and hasn't been posed yet:

Again from the Datasphere forum O12 podcast, a size comparison of the Iguana, Gecko and the Iguana Operator:

Finally for the TAGs, the PanOceania Armoured Cavalry is being reworked at some stage, very Glitter Boy-looking:

That's a lot of big stompy stuff on the way.

Warcor Program

Corvus Belli have given informal support to people who go out and promote the game, but are now launching an official pressganger/outrider-style program. No more details known at this point, but discounts on the digital versions of the tournament packs would be handy.

ITS Season Five

It sounds like the Infinity Tournament System is getting a big shakeup next year, answering most of the issues.

The first one listed above is first for a reason - the current ITS rankings are a purely cumulative score, play more ITS tournaments and you get more points. The new system is going to weight this towards how well you do in each event, but it sounds like there may still be a cumulative element.

Next come new missions. This year CB added a list of simple missions for the ITS but there are a number of balance issues with them, Supply Run in particular being winnable in the first turn with an appropriate list, winning the initiative and a modicum of luck on the dice rolls.

They're also inroducing a bunch of non-competitive formats that will still count as ITS events, but I have no idea how that's going to work.

Also, countries that have enough ITS events during the season will get their own national league, with the winner of each league getting a model painted by Angel Giraldez (staff painter for CB) as a prize. I'm hoping the UK scene is big enough, but as I submit something like 80% of the UK ITS results we'll have to see...

Morat Redesign

My, this 'summary' has turned out to be a bit long! Last but definitely not least, the Morats of the Combined Army are getting a starter pack (contents as seen above) and a major redesign.

Old Morat Vanguard v. New Concept Art

Overall a much more refined design, notably when it comes to the guns.

It looks like the majority of these will be CAD work:

I'm not sure what Scarface's shoulder pads are doing on there, but it looks vicious. ;-)

This appears to be the digital sculpt for the female Treitak Morat Spec Ops:

That all got a bit longer than anticipated, but that's how it goes.

Ian

The text for the work blocked (and no images as I wouldn't want to use up all their bandwith). Most of the info there has been presented piecemeal in the thread but it is nice to see it all in one spot.

As to be expected, but it's great to get clearer pictures of the models.

I love the pulled up Agema visor on Atalanta that makes her fit in with the rest of the Agema. Strangely enough, if she is good enough to snipe without the use of that visor, why does she have it in the first place?

It ends up straining her eyes a bit, maybe giving her dark circles under them too...

Got to look your best on the battlefields of the future!

Easiest explanation is that she uses the MSV when firing at something the Spotbot is 'spotting' for her, trusting her own vision otherwise.

Plus obscuring the facial features of a character makes their rolls worse.
Fact.

The Pheasant looks a little stilted and awkward, but I can almost read the pose as a purposeful walk so, hmm.

Bitterly disappointed that the Qapu Khalki starter doesn't have any new sculpts, I am racing home, typing this and avoiding oncoming traffic as best I can through my furious tears, so that I can smash all my Infinity models with a hammer.

Standing as I am now, in the eerily calm smoldering ruins of what was once my house, your logic seems sound. Once the rage wells up though only blood, or substantial personal property loss, can quell it.

Time to place an order with Shae.

I might have been nice to have one sculpt in there.. on the other hand it's been said that this is a consolidation of miniatures (helping shop keepers to hold the range) so in that sense it is probably a wise decision.

I'm painting up a QP force at the moment but actually don't have any of the minis in the boxset (except for the Odalisque) so will probably pick this up for the better price point anyway.

Either way if anyone deserves that kind of recognition it's you. Alot of people play Infinty because of your tireless effort in answering questions and making people feel at home on the Infinty forums.

No I was entirely surprised by it and it is better this way in more than one way.

News
from Beasts of War http://www.beastsofwar.com/infinity/infinity-face-dire-foes/

Scenario names
“Temporal Alliance”. Lupe Balboa Vs. Trasimedes
“Black Mist” Yuriko Oda Vs. Isobel McGregor
“Rescue in the Train” Bipandra Vs, Anyat
“Escape or Die” Konstantinos Vs. Yasbir
“Viral Outbreak” Aelis Keesan Vs. Hasht

And better quality of the already posted artwork.
