Wolfenstien is nice I wish I'd chosen her.

Wait they basically had the money sitting in their PayPal account over a year later? Okay I added some in January but still. I'm not sure how those guys do things but honestly, the RPGs I was working on basically distributed the funds fairly fast.

And we were really using everything we got. PayPal can be funny they can be, we had stuff frozen but it literally took a few days to sort it. And you can use other ways to take funds.

Also wouldn't their store basically be shut until it was fixed? And no mention on Social Media that they love so much....

Something odd there...

Anyway again pictures of things that we won't see, like both of them, kinda called that one.

I'm glad I didn't select any of the snipers. I do hope they made the masters a bit too large to account for shrinkage. Otherwise those are going to be hell to get onto a base. And even though they might be 30mm tall to the eye, once they fully stand up, they'd tower over terminators.

Now I love myself tall women, don't get me wrong. But still.

And, uh, is Wolfenstein planned to be on a 40mm base? She looks very good, but that's going to be tricky to fit on a base too. I can't believe I had to clip the tab on the Yaga I got to make her stand up on a table. The tab was all the way over at the edge of the cloak, her right leg was on the edge of the base and the left one was... way outside. With staff in place, she was ridiculously easy to knock over.

"A full army soon on Kickstarter"...

And a 'cinematic' game?

I suppose it could all work out just fine.

Going on from that rules description, is it going to be like Infinity? Or an even more random 40k?

And who is this special bird they found who can match egos with them in terms of designing a game using such a bloated description?

Is it just an optical illusion, or so some of those heroines look substantially taller and more svelte than others? Some look almost "heroic scale" while other have seven feet of legs with a teeny torso perched on top...

And if anyone was planning on supporting the next kickstarter, this update should be enough to make you run away screaming. When you have seven sculptors starting from scratch several times over the course of a year for just one miniature out of a hundred, you're basically at the point where there is no upper limit to how long you might have to wait. While I don't think they'd make you wait twenty years for your miniatures, there's really nothing in their behaviour to suggest they wouldn't, if that's the direction their alleged development structure takes them.

I'm all in on the Sisters- AFTER they're out to general public. I can easily find ways to make up for any savings I might enjoy from backing the Kickstarter. I'm tired of the months/years of waiting almost every miniature Kickstarter project seems to require.

I have the sisters and they barely fit onto regular round bases and are 90% leg when put next to other ranges.

Ks has enabled me to limit my miniature buying, though I'm not liking the fact my card charges an addition on top but regardless. I like backing companies but I also need to know that they are doing something with that backing.

Ill back a limited amount, as I've said however the amount is going to be based on if I get anything before December.

And it's going to be much less than this time.

I'm very interested in this game that they are developing!

Once that's out, I might buy a small force for the various factions here, and then I won't have to worry about wonky scaling or theme matching etc.

I've playtested several big name games, even those who claim to be cinematic.

None really can hold that name. Some come close , Infinity and Malifaux are what I'd say was closest too that title.

What's the point of posting teasers of a kickstarter when they're like 1.5 projects behind atm?

Sure, if you ignore the fact that every KS they've done solo has been on time or early, save for Wrath of Kings, which they announced the delay on.

But by that standard - they've done like 1-2 KS yes? The tiny little "Guilds of Cadwallion KS," and some stuff that we won't find out if it's on time or not for quite a while (Like Arcadia Quest). Was Kaos Ball done with a partner? (though that also seems to have missed it's stated ship date).

I've no problem with CMON KS (unlike some people) in fact I just got my Rivet Wars wave 2 yesterday, so I'm pretty pleased with them atm (quality looked like a nice bump up from the core set). But going 1/2 seems like a pretty low goalpost.

So anyway. I'd really like to see these guys fully deliver on this before they start another KS. And on that:

What you see on the picture above is a pile of all the drawings to date for the Sci-Fi Dark Elves and Sisters of Eternal Mercy. This means that you can double it when we include the Fantasy versions

It looks like they're going to try and KS 4 distinct factions in one. I'd much rather see them do one at a time, or at a stretch, do the Fantasy and Sci-Fi versions of the Sisters separately to the Dark Elves. Faster turnaround and all that.

We'll see what wins out: Common sense or the urge to finally move on because you can't keep an artiste tied down on one project forever.

And how many times have we seen other groups (like Mantic) actually wait before starting their next KS?

KS fever doesn't just grip the people buying in. The people who start these things want to keep starting them.

I think they're well aware of the tightrope they're on right now with regards to that.

There's a vocal minority that's all for kicking off another KS right now, because the wait will be worth it, delays be damned and all that merry shouting.

It's better to wrap up the original stuff first and start afresh, hopefully with a new set of skills and whatnot to show that this ride has been worth something other than well, stuff.

Sadly, you're right on that one. Even though Mantic have managed to deliver on several now, it constantly feths with their ability to do normal business, and they constantly start new ones at the prefect time to feth with their existing ones - either PMs or actual shipping. You'd think they'd learn, but apparently not...

Even a "good" one like Battle Systems Terrain started their next one the very moment the first one was out of their own hands (and into Wayland's for the shipping).

I think we're starting to see the KS veteran companies calm down a bit on that front though.

Mantic seem like they're always going to be working on a KS at this point though, they are essentially a KS company.

This is going to sound pretty bad, and I don't mean for it to come off this way, but does it seem to anyone else that Continental European miniatures companies are often run by people with poor attitudes?

Avatars of War, Raging Heroes, Rackham (to an extent), now Gamezone, those Ex Ilis guys - all of them gave off an unpleasant attitude to me, a sort of "artist is always right!" feeling that I have rarely gotten from american or UK company (who tend to give off more of a "MRRRRWWWW PEW PEW PEW SPOLSIONS! YEEEEEEEEAAAAH!" feeling, which can be a problem in it's own right )

I thought Ex Illis was done by home boys(Quebec)?

I think I'm largely done with KS at this point because I want to focus on stuff I can actually play with. These days, with all my friends replicating like bunnies, that means skirmish games, preferably with a sci-fi bent so they can re-use their 40K minis. Or stuff I'm willing to demo and own multiple factions of. Which again, means low model-count.

My pulse actually lowered when I read that they were going to start working on their game. If it's a free pdf to push model sales, I might take a look at it. But I'm not going through Confrontation 3.0 again.

Ex-Illis was destined to fail because of the attitude they used and well, why bother with minis when you could just play the game on a tablet instead? Only reason to buy the minis was for a code in the box that you needed to enter into their program so you could use these units, because we were too fething dense to use dice and whatnot, noooooo, the only way to play the game was through a tablet or computer. Everything was done electronically, the only physical thing you did was move your models from grid to grid and tapped the screen a few times while the program did the rest.

Well, you can always spend time preparing for a KS, or building hype.

Overlapping KS certainly can be an efficient use of any company that has different people working on the project at different times, but it can also run into headaches when something unexpected in one project affects the other. Costs and risks *are* transferred to backers in a KS, so overlapping KS shouldn't exactly be singled out any differently than other costs and risks on a KS. And, of course, if a company doesn't finish a KS, the backers have nothing tangible that would help them make a more informed decision for the company's next KS. As a result, fewer backers pledge in the second KS, lowering its potential maximum funding. This hurts backers in the second KS by not reaching all the SGs the project could have reached.

We'll see what the market will bear. No one forces anyone to back a second KS.

Yay, news:
UPDATE #93 – Back to school...

In this Update, check out the latest news on :

• Shipping Production
• Waves
• Challenges and Hurdles
• Sculpting – What's Left To Do
• New Sculpts Images
• The Digital Artbook
• Paint Jobs
• Next KS Project
• The TGG Game
• Next Update

This Summer has not quite yet been vacation time for the Raging Heroes Team and a lot has happened since the last Update. Of course, our big push has been on everything related to dispatching Wave 1 and preparing Wave 2.

Some of you may now be wondering: “What?? Dispatching of Wave 1??? But I haven't received anything!!!!” If that's your case, remember that shipping not only depends on when the various TGG become available, but also on the Shipping Option that you selected. If you think you should have received your first minis but haven't, please check out the Shipping Options, and contact us via private message or the Live Chat if you need assistance.

Regarding Wave 2, there have been loads of 3D file preparation, 3D printing, and mould-making. So here's how things are shaping up...

Shipping

The very first shipment of the 2nd Wave started in late August with the metal Heroines of the 2nd Wave that were available at that time, so some of you have already received them. Their spin-cast resin versions will become available next week.

We will continue 2nd Wave shipments as we receive all the Troops from the foundry. This is scheduled to end in late October.

The 3rd Wave will follow, and we are doing everything we can to get it all shipped out before the end of the year.

Basically, whenever new minis become available, pledges that can be fully completed are sent out right away.

Production Waves

The plan for Wave 2 was for all Troops + metal Heroines.

The Troops are currently in production. The plan, as you may recall, was to try and begin shipping them by late summer, which is right about now, but the sheer volume of production and the occasional casting surprises mean that we are looking at a few more weeks than planned.

However, there are also unexpected good news:
The Snipers of all 3 armies are also in production and will most likely be available in time for Wave 2!
And the big news is that, contrary to what was originally planned, we will have a big bunch of spin-cast resin Heroines included in Wave 2!!!

If you remember, once we announced that we were able to make the Heroines also available in spin-cast resin instead of just metal, we told you that they would be produced only once everything else was completed. But since we had some issues on several other minis during the 3D printing phase, that left our resin foundry with extra capacity, so we wasted no time in asking for spin-cast resin Heroines.

Here's the list of metal Heroines that are already produced and in our offices, ready for Wave 2. (Their spin-cast resin counterparts will be joining them next week)
: • Aaqila Noyakin (KST)
• Arthemisia Rozenkrantz (IE)
• Doctor von X (IE)
• Drakkan (Lieutenant) (IE)
• Foxy Dynamite (JB)
• Heleria Drakkenfeld (IE)
• Karmina Noxx (KST)
• Katrina Zerga (KST)
• Krüger (Lieutenant) (IE)
• Lady Sigrith (IE)
• Severina Madsen (IE)
• Snow Ivanka (KST)
• #42 (IE)

This means that we have already started the first shipments of Wave 2 for people whose selection was complete with the minis in the above list. And we will continue to do so as new models come in.

Check out this page (screengrab below) for an updated view of
• what's in each Wave
• what's already In Stock and Ready to Ship.

Challenges and Hurdles...

You've probably been waiting for this Update to come earlier in the summer, and that's why we want to tell you a bit more about what goes on behind the scenes.

For example, you've probably guessed that setting up a Pledge Manager that would work with our complex KS reward selection system, complete with a proper back office to manage all the pledges was quite a daunting task. And we still had more administrative work once it closed...

Actually, we usually try to spare you the daily madness, problems and challenges we have to deal with every day. But you might not be completely surprised to know that even mundane, simple tasks can sometimes escalate into nightmares in the context of a Kickstarter...

Here's a couple of examples...

Smack in the middle of the Pledge Manager and the miniatures finalisation for Wave 2, we got a call from Paypal. They told us they were freezing the funds collected during the Pledge Manager to protect their liability. We had to negotiate for several days and provide loads of explanations, but still were only able to unlock half of the money. The rest will not be freed up until shipping is nearly over. As you can expect, this has a ripple effect on the rest of the production, and we had to find and implement solutions to work around this situation.

Another challenge is how shipping software are not set up to work with what we'll call, for lack of a better word, pre-orders. So they can't differentiate between available stock and not available stock. We've had to create a system of tags for that, and manually (manually!) split the reward selections of over 1,000 backers. And, while doing this, we uncovered bugs that the software maker did not know existed...

You can easily imagine that it's practically impossible to anticipate for such hurdles :( We manage those set-backs as they happen, but let's be honest, during that time, well, we're not fully focused on making minis either...

And then, there are all the other things of everyday life. Even if our in-house team did not slow down even a little bit during the summer, we have partners and freelancers who took vacations during the summer, two who got married (big CONGRATS! to our sculptors Andrea and Francesca), one who was forced to slow down on doctor's orders, and even one who had to travel to see his brother who'd been in a motorbike accident (he's OK though!)...

Sculpting – What's Left To Do

As you can imagine, since the last Update, we've been focusing on finishing the sculpts of the remaining Heroines. They are now all done, except for Kiki Bulldozer (which is actually 2 minis in one, because of the man hooked on her staff), and the new versions of Baba Yaga and the Yaga Arushka. They will be done in the next few days. Actually, Kiki and Arushka should have been part of this Update, but the sculpts still need some polishing.

Next week, we will also put the final touches to the Jailbirds Mecha, the KST and the Iron Empire Combat Trikes, which are all very close to completion. And then, as promised, we will finish with the sculpting with the Cyberzombie unit.

When we show you these sculpts, we also plan to show you the alternate versions of all the Artillery servants. They are all already sculpted, but there are so many files to prepare for rendering (so that we can show them to you) that we put it aside so as not to hold back the publication of today's Update. All in all, the creative work is virtually over!

New Sculpts Images
Jaheda Kano (KST) and Ash (JB) were originally envisioned as very basic tank operators, but we added details to make them stand out more.

Kristina Karlstein (IE) is one of our favourite in this batch. We are very happy to have reworked her concept and her posing. She's now a striking officer with lots of attitude, and a very feminine Iron Empire type of glamour.

Here is Nertha (IE), the last of the Freedom Fighters. You can bet that the Freedom Fighters will have an important role to play in the upcoming TGG game.

W101 (IE) is undoubtedly the most frightening of all the TGG miniatures. Truly, you do want to steer clear of those Iron Empire

We really love Lucky Lucy (JB) and her cool charm. She's bound to have very cool rules in the upcoming TGG game.

If you are mentally sane, of all TGG medics, Nurse Karoline is probably the one you want to care of you.

We told you many times how Parker has been a pain from the start, and as we expected, she is one of the very last Heroine sculpt that we are working on. But we are truly happy now.

We were always a bit disappointed with how the Keela Krupps (IE) sculpt came out. We really liked her crazy steampunk-style apparatus, and we felt that her initial version did not have the strong charisma we were aiming for. So, we slightly reworked her pose and her proportions, and we are now quite happy with her commanding demeanor.

We know that this is one of the TGG many of you have been waiting for. Translating the 2D concept of General Wolfenstein (IE) into a 3D environment was a big challenge. We took her apart and rebuilt her from scratch several times. Can you believe that seven (seven!) sculptors worked on her throughout the year, with varying degrees of success, until we finally achieved this final version.

The Digital Artbook

Now that we will have all the sculpts done, we will finally have all the base elements we need to complete the Artbook. We have many things to put in this tome. Of course, there will be unpublished versions of preliminary sketches, alternate versions of sketches we didn't use. There will also be new drawings and illustrations, several of them depicting special events of the TGG background. You can also expect KST and Iron Empire propaganda materials, as well as scenes for the TGG's everyday life. And most likely, we'll throw in some fun factoids and behind-the-scene snippets from the TGG Kickstarter.

The question left to answer is: should we wait for more minis to be painted? This would allow us to include shots of the painted minis, but also, dioramas and more... What do you guys think?

The TGG Game

We've been hinting at our TGG game for quite some time now. A few months ago, we really put this project in motion, and started looking for a game designer who would be able to help us translate our many ideas into a game system. We wanted someone who would have very good knowledge of the game market, the constraints of production, etc, while at the same time who, as a game designer, was also willing and able to really think out of the box. We have now found this rare bird, and have been working with him throughout the summer, brainstorming and putting the basics in place.

This game is proving quite a challenge to develop, as we want it to be pretty special. It will be close to the TGG spirit, and is intended to have a very cinematic feel. The action will be far from restricted to an open battlefield, and you will be able to do many moves not usually found in regular wargames. We want it to be fast-paced, with no down time, so you'll never have to wait 3 turns approaching your enemy and then get stuck for 3 other turns resolving combat actions. The personality of each TGG will also play a big role in the game. You well know that some are stubborn, big-mouthed, unpredictable. Others are unflappable, focused, deadly effective. All this and more will show up in the game, and resolving combat will not just be about combat skills but also about bravado, attitude, or even talking yourself out of impossible situations. We are aiming for a wargame that will feel like your favourite action movie.

We'll share more on this with you as work progresses. If all goes well, we would like to include the game in the upcoming Dark Elves and Sisters Kickstarter.

Next TGG Update

Our next TGG Update will be out in just a few days. It is mostly written by Harry the baby Hippo, and will be about shipping, first TGG reviews, and who is the winner of the “How many bases for the TGG Kickstarter” contest...

Depends on how they're going to set up the system I suppose. Will it just be a rulebook with the core rules and army books to follow, or will it be a complete deal where the rulebook also features the army lists for all five armies?

Chances are that the titty elves and cathedral nuns will be part of the TGG setting, which isn't a bad idea, as it would keep things easier and give you (hopefully) more diverse enemies than just three shades of not-Imperial Guard duking it out with one another.

It will be interesting indeed, seeing as in the time this was all announced and slowly set in motion, we got a Sisters codex, a new Guard codex that invalidated some of the stand-in models and next week, a new Dark Eldar codex as well.

Monpellier and other parts of the South of France, RH are in Monpellier according to their KS page. It actually looks pretty severe, this might be the first legitimate excuse they've had for any delays that follow.

As an aside, when I googled it to find out what was up, I found a French news website in English(thelocal.fr), and christ on a bike the country is even more of a minefield for foreigners than my Mum taught me about when we went on holidays there when I was wee. Apparently Parisians are annoyed with "Anglos" for giving the city a bad reputation by carelessly getting ourselves robbed all the time, and if you then try to report a crime to a police officer and in our distress forget to open with "bonjour" we should thank our lucky stars if we get out of the encounter without them drawing their gun

There were some really hilarious ones. Apparently saying "I'd like my steak well-done", in French or not, is akin to telling the Chef "I spit on your food, your country, and the grave of your mother, you vile pigdog!", and sitting at a table set for food and then ordering coffee is considered more disrespectful than just walking up and slapping the waiter across the face

In any case, does anyone know if the model below is available for sale to the average non-backer scrub yet?

That would make a kick butt shadowrun mini as well as a nice harker model (although to be honest I'm not sure if he is worth taking anymore with IG... haven't used him with the new codex.. that isn't even called IG anymore).

In that case, all those minis only KS threads like both the Reaper Bones threads, Creature Caster, and your own assimilation alien host thread are in the wrong place.

Did the jailbird gunner get delivered even to KS backers or is it still vaporender at the moment? I've found the page below specifically for Cruz but the comments are pretty much over a year old and I only see the Kurganovas on their shop.

What's really horrible?

I'm pretty much out of 40k at this point (for the reasons that most of my gaming group is as well), and the entire reason I got this army was as a proxy force for my Valhallan army, which will likely never see the field again. The only thing I'm likely to use is Doctor Von X as a McMourning proxy in Malifaux.

Here's hoping that: 1. it does fulfill finally 2. Someone comes out with an interesting rules set I can use them for.

He makes a good point. Threads about actual miniatures and terrain are ill-placed here - amongst the "I hate GW" and the "boobs offend me" threads.

Crazy at this may seem, the Moderators are not actually all-seeing and all-knowing.

Crazy, right?

My point is that the miniatures and terrain threads are badly-placed here. Regardless of "how it was meant to be" once upon a time, this subforum is filled with meta-discussions about the hobby, and the GW bitch threads. Actual miniatures and terrain, etc quickly get overwhelmed/lost in here. Misc Miniatures Games could just as easily be Misc Miniatures and Games.

I know the change might be hard at first, but it'll be worth it in the long run.

We could also really confuse people and rename Dakka Discussions to 'Off Topic Forum' and the 'Off Topic Forum' to 'Even more Off Topic Forum'.

I don't know that I've ever seen a thread so dense with gallows humor. All of you backers have my sympathies.

More on-topic, I have a question about scale. Do we have any indication of how these figures will scale up with other companies' figures? I remember there being some fiddling with scale and input from backers way back during the funding period. What was decided on? Apologies if this question has already been answered recently.

If you google it, you'll see a bunch of scale pics. One guy here (morathi?) has a gallery folder of them that I found to see how the Cruz fig I asked about above would look next to GW guardsmen.

To be fair I think somebody was just offended by models with exposed boobs on a landraid, which, depending on the context/army theme may or may not really "work" (althougth to be honest I don't see how even a poorly executed army theme could really be offensive) not that boobs themselves are offensive. While I dislike making sweeping generalizations I'm pretty confident that boobs themselves have about as high of an approval rating among the masses as anything could.

On topic, can tell me if it was stated how long after the kickstarter finishes fulfillment that the minis would hit retail? I didn't back this because I've reached a hobby tipping point where I am trying to limit myself to purchasing individual minis rather than whole armies anymore so I wanted to wait until I could see the finished product to get a few that would fit in with my existing IG armies.

That's not really my point about this forum. That thread is just an example (along with discussion on "why I hate GW" and "GW annual report" and "GW-chapterhouse lawsuit update" and "BTP ripped me off" and on and on that this is really the meta-discussion forum - and not ideal for discussions of actual products.

The off-topic forum is a different beast again - stuff that's entirely unrelated to wargaming. And that's fine. The "GW killed my dog" threads don't belong there. DD is fine for it, I'd just like to see the actual gaming stuff have a properly-defined home away from the gaming-meta-discussion stuff.

I think they're quietly shipping out stuff once more, probably drop an update on us when that's been under way for some time and the comments section has a few backers comment on getting their stuff. IIRC they did the same last time round, which isn't a bad idea, sending out stuff before telling us that they're doing it, less chance for it to backfire and come across as something to snark about.

At this point I'd be happy to just know what it is I'm actually waiting for - which heroines are we actually going to get, and will infantry, snipers etc be in Wave 2 or not? How can they be getting ready to ship a wave out and yet still not be sure what they're going to be putting in the bloody packages?

“My eyes the shear beauty burns my eyes... My god you and your team are freaking AMAZING!!! If I had half that skill I would be proud.” – Fumiki Miku (on Facebook, August 2014)

“Box just hit the fan! AWE - f***ing – some!” – Wolf Wings (on Facebook, August 2014)

“Oh. My. God. Beautiful!!!!! The detail! The fingers on Drusilla's gloves! The ring pulls on Harry's beer cans! Perfect buckles, realistic folds of cloth! Absolutely stunning, well worth the wait, thank-you so much to the original RH team for the big idea, to all the artists, sculptors, printers and moulders for the design and execution, to the office staff, the IT guys, the couriers and others for helping the wheels to turn, and thank-you Asharah for blessing us mere mortals with her gifts! Now, if only I wasn't so terrified of painting!” – Dan Sanders (on Facebook, August 2014)

New Renders

As we mentioned before, we felt that the first version of Arushka was not up to par with the 2 other Yagas. And even as we showed you a new concept during the Pledge Manager, as we continued working on the sculpt, we felt that the energy just wasn't there yet. So we repositioned her staff to give her a stronger and more dynamic silhouette. We now feel that each of the Yaga radiates their very own energy while at the same time complementing each other perfectly.

Just like Parker, Kiki was not an easy one to deal with. We worked a lot with her original pose, but what we would come up with was consistently much too static. We felt that she needed to be larger than life. We did not want her to look like a traditional big ugly monster. We wanted her to have attitude, character and her own womanly style. Kiki is a character that we really like, and our goal was not to mock her but to make her a powerful, strong and fun TGG.

Also, here are two renders that we forgot to show in our previous Update:

So, where are we on Wave 2?

A big bunch of metal Heroines have already been shipped in late summer, as planned. Normally, we should have also shipped a whole bunch of spin-cast resin Heroines, but the parcel containing them got suck in customs for several weeks :( They have now been shipped. More details on this below.

We are now waiting for a new shipment containing the Snipers from all 3 armies, which had originally been planned for Wave 3.

What is behind schedule are the Troops and Command Group boxes. The Troops have been a real headache, (if you remember previous updates, you know that they have been resculpted, reprinted, recast several times for various reasons) but everything is now under control. The good thing is that many of them have already been produced, but because of the various problems we encountered, ironically and despite our best efforts, not a single box has all of its minis and parts complete... We are working closely with our foundries to catch up on production as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

We know that this waiting is frustrating for you. It has been very hard for us too, as the troops were the very first sculpts we started with on this Kickstarter and we were sure they would be done many months ago. However, all these reworks gave us the opportunity to vastly increase the quality of the troops. All the challenges we've overcome with their production have also greatly expanded our knowledge and experience.
When we had the very first submasters back in December last year, the foundries could not understand why we wanted to ditch them and redo the whole lot, because in their eyes, they were already pretty impressive. And now that they have the final version, we all agree that it was all most definitely worth it. We will also be able to transfer this increased knowledge and experience to our upcoming projects. And we want to thank you for bearing with us, your minis are coming soon!

So, coming back to the Troops:
In our previous Update, we said that “The Troops are currently in production. The plan, as you may recall, was to try and begin shipping them by late summer, which is right about now, but the sheer volume of production and the occasional casting surprises mean that we are looking at a few more weeks than planned.”

So, now that we know more, and based on how things stand now, the following boxes should be ready for shipping in 4-5 weeks:
•The KST Heavy Troops and the KST Heavy Command Group
•The JB Regular Troops and the JB Regular Command Group
•The IE Heavy Troops and the IE Heavy Command Group

And unfortunately, the following boxes will need an additional 3-5 weeks:
•The IE Regular Troops and the IE Regular Command Group
•The KST Regular Troops and KST Regular Command Group

Since some boxes will be finished earlier than others, please be assured that as soon as we can ship your 2nd Wave, we will.

By the way, if your are wondering why on Earth we are talking about Wave 2 when you haven't even received Wave 1, please make sure to read the section further down called Harry's Chronicles (part 2) – “Where's my stuff?”.

“Either way, a delay in production such as this is fine with me. This KS generated way more interest than I believe RH anticipated. I'm sure they never expected to have so many additional miniatures and accessories to sculpt. When I first backed this, there were just a handful of cad images and a few "artists impressions" - now we have extra heads, weapons, artillery pieces, bikes, walkers. And all of these extras will take more time. Remember, it's not a pre-order system, it's a backer scheme with benefits - some beautifully sculpted benefits. ” – Berger (Kickstarter August 2014)

“I really have to say that miniatures you make are something more than simply pieces of gaming equipment, they really are beautiful artwork and true craftsmanship quite seldom found these days. It was distinct that your company and people working there, want to create and make beautiful and functional things.” – Jarno Nordvall (via email, September 2014)

Meow! Aulne Abeille's cat is unpacking the TGG

What else is happening?

At this point in time, we are mostly focusing our efforts on sending everything to production and making sure that everything we get back meets with our expectations. This means that we spend pretty much all of our time preparing files for 3D printing, sending stuff out to the printer, reviewing test prints and test casts, touching up prints before they're sent to the foundry, etc. All the sculptors have been and continue to work on very un-sexy tasks. That's why we haven't quite finished all the sculpts yet, even if most of them are virtually done. Next week, we should finish Baba Yaga (KST – Yaga) and the JB Mecha, and after that, the IE and KST Trikes and the Cyberzombies will be taken care of.

Now that the pressure is easing, we've also been able to devote more time to recruiting and training 3 new freelance sculptors: Svetlana (Moscow, Russia), Martin (Bulgaria) and Stephen (UK). Right now, they are helping us finish the remaining production tasks.

With them and the rest of the crew, we are also testing a new planning tool called Liquid Planner. So far, it's been very promising, performing well in managing priorities, coordinating the team members and reducing lost time. (I'm including their link in case you want to check it out, because if you do, they may chuck some funds our way...)

The TGG Behind Bars?

Well, several TGG were not in jail, but their movement were nonetheless limited as they enjoyed the custody of French Customs for a bit...

After many hurdles, last week, we finally got hold of the big parcel of spin-cast resin Heroines that were stuck there for several weeks. Everything eventually got sorted out, but we lost a lot of time with this. We are now implementing measures to prevent this situation from happening again.

The good news is that we have now dispatched those minis to all the backers whose Rewards Selection could be completed with the arrival of this parcel, together with the backers whose 'Personal Shipping - 2 Waves' selection was shippable. If you have any questions about this, please be sure to send us a private message via Kickstarter, or at RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com, and we'll be there to assist you.

“I leave a comment about Harry, who contacted me to tell me I overpaid which I never knew. Their customer service is top notch. RH you rock and thank you Harry for being on the ball” – Alvin Scott (Kickstarter, August 2014)

Reprinting Doctor von X...

However, when we opened the long-awaited parcel, we had to set aside a small number of minis that were crippled by a few nasty bubbles :( This was due to a quality control problem that has now been sorted, but this means that we have less of the good stuff to dispatch right at this moment, until small mould fixes and new casts can be made. Fortunately, this was fixed in one short week, and more casts are already on the way.

But the spin-cast Doctor von X also inside that parcel was a major problem, and remoulding her would not do her justice. So we decided to take the drastic step of fixing the problematic details directly on the 3D sculpt. We will then 3D-print her again, and send this new print to the foundry for a complete remould and new casts. This means that the spin-cast version of von X, will now come pretty late in the Second Wave. We are very sorry about this delay, but you know us... Quality first!

Flooding

Early autumn over here has not been the greatest time so far for us After the Customs snafu, and while we are still trying to resolve the problem of Paypal holding back part of the Pledge Manager funds, Mother Nature joined the fun and Montpellier, Raging Heroes' hometown, got its biggest flooding in 50 years!

Our offices are located in one of the areas that ended up being completely cut off from traffic. We were quite lucky to leave just moments before that happened. The good news is that no minis were harmed during the floods, although we did have to restrain Harry the Baby Hippo from splashing around in the mud outside

You can see images and videos of flooded Montpellier here.

3D prints + Upgrading the Freebies

Here is a new batch of of prints that came through the studio and straight back out to the foundry this month.

You'll probably remember that in the first few days of the Kickstarter, the Freebies' very first versions of Ash, Kristina Karlstein and Jaheda Kano were only supposed to be upper bodies to use as tank pilots and tank officers. We had made this choice because before the KS launch, we had many people asking for such minis.

But then, you asked us to make them as full characters, so we obliged and quickly gave them each a pair of legs. However, since they had not been designed as full-fledged characters, they were definitely lacking a little oomph. So we took the time to upgrade their poses, attitude and clothes. Freebies they may be, but they still deserve the full Raging Heroes treatment!

Harry's Chronicles (part 1) – The Live Chat is Still Live!

Harry the Hippo was all over the Live Chat during the Pledge Manager. He burped his way through many of your messages, and spilt nary a drop of beer during the TGG shipping process. He deserved a chance to get his paws on this Update, so look out: Heeeeeerrre's Harry!

Hi Folks, Harry here! After many hours with you all on the Live Chat during the Pledge Manager period, I moved on over to the Packing and Shipping Area.

Heeeyyyy, that's me on the Live Chat!

But guess what? I LEFT THE LIVE CHAT OPEN!

You have questions or comments? Click on the Live Chat window at the bottom right of the Pledge Manager. I'll be there for you, with my buddy Charlie the War Bulldog (just back from touring with his band in North America), and Jinx (that's the haughty one). If I'm away, leave a message. I swear I'm now pretty fast at getting back to you!

“Thanks for getting back to me, you guys are so amazing and this is the most professionally handled Kickstarter I have backed. Congratulations for being awesome.” – Holy Jane Lycanthropica (via email, June 2014)

Harry's Chronicles (part 2) – “Where's my stuff?”

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you think you should have received some of your TGG models by now, please make sure you read this section, as you may have missed some of our previous info about shipping...

Right now, the top question I get is this one:
“YOU'VE SHIPPED THE FIRST WAVE, AND I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANYTHING!!!” Well, in most cases, that's normal: many of you selected Standard Shipping as your shipping option. Standard Shipping means that we send your Rewards Selection in one single shipment. So we can only ship yours when everything you chose is ready to ship!

“BUT SOME OTHER PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED SOME STUFF!!!”True. But that's because either:
•All the minis they wanted were already available
•Or, instead of Standard Shipping, they chose another shipping option, either Drop Ship or Personal Wave shipping. The Drop Ship option is now closed but you can still get additional shipments through the Personal Wave shipping option.

“WELL, I DO WANT MORE THAN ONE SHIPMENT!!!”
Easy to fix: extra shipments continue to be available for $14.95 per shipment (or $10 if you're in France)! Just drop me a note (RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com) (or send me a private message on Kickstarter) if you want one or more, and I'll make it happen. (BTW, that is what we called the Personal Wave Shipping option.)

“BUT, WHAT'S A WAVE EXACTLY?”Actually, I must confess that we've shouldn't have talked about Waves, because there are 2 kinds of waves: the shipping waves and the production waves, and it gets everybody mixed up... Charlie nearly ate his own hat because of this...

So let me try to clear that up:

We should not have used the term Wave for the Shipping options. Really, we shouldn't have. It created unnecessary confusion. We should have called it something like Number of Shipments. But it's too late now.
So, just know that we are producing the minis in roughly 3 Waves (these are the Production Waves) and that you can get the minis shipped to you in 1 or more shipments, depending on your Shipping Option.
The Production Waves and the Number of Shipments are not necessarily tied together.

For example, those of you who chose 2 Shipments (that is, Personal Wave Shipping – 2 Waves) may be getting a combination of Production Waves 1 and 2 in their first shipment, and Production Waves 2 and 3 in their second shipment. Other combinations also exist, depending on your selection of minis. Basically, you don't have to worry too much about this, as I try as much as I can to set up the best possible combination for each of your shipments. I also do follow your wishes if you share them with me. You can always contact me on the Live Chat about this, or anything else

I made this little drawing for a visual explanation... Obviously, I am not the creative one :(

So... I am really if it feels like an eternity for you to receive your precious minis :( I promise I am doing the best I can to please you (yes, even those of you with small claws). For the curious, we have a total of approximately 4000 parcels to ship for this Kickstarter .

Before going on about my Packing Adventures, I wanted to thank you all for your kindness and for your support. Indeed, we have received loads of awesome comments and reviews on the Chat (the Chat is still up!) and on Facebook, Twitter, Kickstarter and by email, and saw some on various blogs too!

So I've sprinkled them all over this Update! First, because they made us all very happy and encouraged. But also, I figure that if you haven't received any TGG minis yet, you'll probably want to take a look at some of these very detailed and exciting Open-the-Box videos and articles.

Want to see the Wave 1 TGG minis? Check out these 3 Video reviews on Raging Heroes and the First Wave of the Toughest Girls of the Galaxy. They are in French with English subtitles.
• Part 1: 17+ min. on Mimi the Radio (JB), Tania Tanker (JB), Punky (JB), Cruz (JB), Blondie (JB), Bernadette (JB)
• Part 2: 11+ min. on Harry (JB) and the Lulus (JB)
• Part 3: 11+ min. on Charlie (KST Mascot), Tarja (KST Yaga), Natasha (JB), Jinx (IE Mascot), Drusilla (KS exclusive), Mortaria Noctis (IE)

And now, some blog links:

In English

A special THANK YOU to all to the reviewers who took the time to share how the TGG actually look like in person! Keep' em coming! And if I've missed some, please drop me a note, I'll add them in the next Update!

Harry's Chronicles (part 4) – Packing, Shipping, and Bases, too

And now, let's talk about what I do in Shipping

I must say that being surrounded by all of these beautiful ladies all day long is not an easy thing (oooooohhhhhh Bernadette...). Every now and then, they break into fights, too!

That's me here, watching over the girls

Getting ready to fight... errrr, I mean, pack !

So, I ran all over the packing area, I motivated the packing elves when they needed it, and I made sure that the ladies stayed in line as the elves carefully wrapped and packed them for dispatch around the world. Packing and shipping the TGG is an operation of great scale, and so I've also devised many contraptions and procedures to make the elves' work easier.

To give you a scope of the operation: You may remember that we had a quiz in the last Update about how many bases would be shipped for the entire Kickstarter. Well, if I put them in a straight line next to one another, you'd be looking at a nearly 4 kilometres-long road of round black bases, that is, about 2 ½ miles. And if I stack them up (not easy with my fat clumsy paws), the pile would be taller than the Empire State building!

Jinx told me that the number of bases needed to fulfil the Kickstarter is 156,804! In the last Update, we wrote: “The backer with the nearest guess gets a bonus TGG mini!!”, and so, Dennis Becker with 153,780, gets to pick the TGG mini of his choice! Congrats Dennis!

And I want to award special kudos to Wakoun, Andrew Brock, Gavin Ng, Elliot Williams, Jeffery K Chandler II and Federalist42 who were pretty close too!

That's A LOT of bases to pre-pack together with the minis... So the guys get to pack the bases in bags of 5, 10, 15 and 25 whenever they have some idle time. Sometimes, I even give them something to drink from my private hoard to motivate them. Good thing I had loads of supplies!

Harry's Chronicles (part 5) – Beer Coasters, too!

“Hello there, I have just got home from work and pound a parcel in the house, which i have opened, and all i can say is... it was most definitely worth the wait!!! Many many thanks for the hard work and for the lovely miniatures you guys / gals rock just one question though... where do I get more of the drinks mats ?” – Mark Russel (on Facebook, July 2014)

Drink mats? Yes indeed! The fact is that Charlie the War Bulldog had this very cool idea of making TGG coasters for your drinks, an idea which of course I highly supported. And they even made one about me!!! Yeahhhhh! There are 4 different designs, and we randomly include them in each shipment. The more minis you're getting, the more coasters you'll receive. Free of charge, too

Sometimes, when I read the feedback you are sending me, I'm wondering if you don't love the coasters more than the minis So I'm wondering... Do you think we should consider putting them up for sale in the Raging Heroes webshop? Would you buy some ? Would you want other designs ? Which ones ?

Now... Please, please, please paint me first! Alright, you can also paint the other ones too and share your photos with me via email (RagingHeroesTeam@gmail.com) or Facebook! And I'll make sure Charlie posts the best ones on a Pinterest board (or something similar) for you all to see!

A big BURP from the bottom of my heart to all of you!

New Concept Art for the Upcoming Sisters of Eternal Mercy

And to end this Update, here's another sneak peak at our upcoming Kickstarter. These 2 images are for the Sisters of Eternal Mercy army. Keep in mind that they will be available both in Fantasy and Sci-Fi version, and that there will also be Dark Elves (again, both Sci-Fi and Fantasy) available as well. (Follow the links above to see previously shown concepts.

.......

then again they are still fiddling with sculpts so while what I got in the post was very good the rest clearly has a long way to go (but I'm sure will be worth the wait)

While I still don't like Kiki Bulldozer, it's a huge improvement over what they were originally proposing.

In theory, I'll have my infantry before Christmas - maybe even by the end of November. That would be a pleasant surprise after my last post, but that's still a year later than they promised.

I'm not quite sure why, but the imbedded testimonials bother me. I feel like I'm being told what to think.

Kiki is not an improvement in my opinion. Not menacing at all.

Iron empire heroines are what I went in for primarily, they seem to be coming out pretty great overall.

Yeah. I cringed when I skim-read the first ones. I'm embarassed for them.

It's very infomercial, and comes across as lacking in confidence to let their products speak for themselves. And also rather odd, as it's being sent to backers who are the ones who've already paid for this stuff, not even new customers (which would just be cringe-worthy).

Yep, for about a picosecond after I read the "feedback" part of the intro I thought they might have developed some level of self-awareness and were about to lay out the issues people have had with them and their proposed solutions.

Then I remembered who we're talking about here, and quelle surprise....

Honestly though this update inspires only one thing in me now; relief. First because the "Flooding" section was not a ten paragraph flowery explanation of how the entire operation had been reduced to rubble by mother nature(but totes don't worry you guise cuz that means we can rework the sculpts agains to make them EVEN MOAR AWESUMZ!!111), and second because, thank any deities that happen to be listening, it will all be over soon. Once they have the snipers in my second package will arrive and I can finally put the models away in a drawer for a few months to try and forget all the bad mojo enough that I actually want to use them in a project.

I can't say I am impressed at all by Kiki - totally underwhelmed and not convinced its a good diversion from the original artwork.

Similarly, I have been disappointed that they have not listened at all to feedback myself and other backers provided about Ludmilla and her 'cybernetics'. Its a shame.

I've put a request in through the account manager to drop those two from my wave 3 (whenever that is) single wave pledge order and to replace them with more basic Jailbirds. Considering they said the chat would be manned I've been waiting for nearly 3 and a half hours without so much as a sniff of a reply - I've emailed and used the alternate message system - all silent.

I'm a bit gutted by this KS (though the Sedition Wars one should have given me some idea how KS would play out), in particular the weeks (months) long silence after each pledge of another update next week... and the seemingly endless redesign/resculpt/reprint of some of the figures.

Also a bit disheartened by the ongoing talk of Paypal holdups - when they had so much money tied up in the payment systems, what could be causing them grief? I've not heard or experienced other KS using this as an excuse to hold things up - surely it should have been something relatively easy to sort out direct with Paypal given the amounts of money at stake and their 'experience' in retail pre KS.

I'd also imagine the need access to money to continue paying the 'foundries'. Is this KS at risk of defaulting on pledges if they can't afford to manufacture after all this time the bulk of the range (ie troops and other multi figure sets)?!

Paypal have to deal with claims for non delivery and such, so where pre-orders etc and concerned they MAY decide to put a hold on all or some of the funds

if they decide to hold the funds there is nothing that the account holder can do (well you can beg, but it's unlikely to work), paypal will release it in their own sweet time, or when they see signs of the goods being delivered

(for example new ebay sellers, and sellers in scam ridden catagories often have a 21 day hold on their accounts, with no access to the money until then, or until feedback has been left showing delivery, big transactins can he held longer)

Don't mistake RH as the golden standard for handling Kickstarter projects. Most projects I've backed have been delivered within a reasonable timeframe from their initial expectations.

With this one, all bets are off.

re: Paypal, it could be that enough people reported them after long bouts of silence and inactivity from the creator's end, either fearing the worst and wanting a refund, or hoping that a nudge through more official channels would get a result. If an account gets pinged enough times it will be suspended after all.

Cheers Orlando and BrookM for the thoughts on the Paypal stuff - I had assumed the money would have passed through Paypal too quickly for the delays to have played a part.

I did get a response from RH re my order change just after I went to bed which addressed my change request - though I needed a follow up contact tonight as I hadn't been specific enough in nominating which of the JB Box Sets I wanted to sub in for Kiki and Ana had guessed the wrong one - the live chat worked fantastically tonight and the order change was sorted in about 2 minutes - I can't fault that aspect of the business.

You can't.
At the moment no figure has been released (official delivery date of ALL kickstarter minis was March 2014.).

No one knows when backers will get their final waves. We can expect at least another half year until they've shipped the mechas.

Street date for stuff is not before mid 2015.

He was part of the exploitation scene. If you want to see some funny "reviews" of this genre of movies (with the nudity censored of course) I highly recommend the Cinema Snob. This guy loves the genre to death and the character he portrays gives the movies the Ebert treatment by being snobbish about it and picking them apart like no tomorrow.

i can tell from the tone of your message that you're quite disappointed with the lack of news on Nepharya. But like I said, your email has indeed made us reconsider whether she could be part of the First Wave. She was not included in the Update and listed as such because we have not yet re-opened her file since we last spoke, although I've made sure she's part of our next discussions.
You see, we have part of the team who says that she had problems and that they could be major to fix, and the other half who says that we've improved so much in everything over the past months that she could actually be easy to fix.

So, please try and bear with me for another couple of weeks, and do drop me a message around the 20th to see how things stand.

And please, forget about this "wait until Christmas" talk! I'd surely have to kill myself if this project was not done by Christmas!!!

Please stay in touch!
Cheers,
Mireille
Raging Heroes Team"

A little faith wont hurt.

Anyway, I agree that one thing we're pretty safe on will be that the models will be very nice. When they arrive.

Eventually.

In 2015.

So, with the KS stuff taking forever and an ice age to get out, when will the company makes these models available through their webstore? I missed out on the KS, so I couldn't get any of these minis, but they look really interesting and I'd love to add a few to my collection.

My understanding is that they're waiting for KS fulfilment to be complete before opening their new retail webstore (as their PM is a pre-release version of a new webstore).

Yeah, that comes across wrong. I didn't mean a suicide-joke meme, but more along the lines of "If we don't get hovercars by Christmas, I'll have to eat this broken glass" or "If Zack Snyder's next film doesn't win an Oscar, I'll hobble my ankles 'til I'm pigeon-toed." Or some other "If [impossible thing] doesn't happen, I'll [vapid overreaction]."

"If you can't learn French through a public broadcast video funded by the Annenberg Project, then I'll have to shack up with that mime."

You know what? Never mind. The criticism in this thread is overwhelming. I don't see how you can expect me to be creative with so much negativity.

Uh, not quite. I paid for 2 waves of shipping based on what they initially said would be in those two waves and have received nothing to date. Because what's in those two waves appears to have changed rather dramatically.

I went with a mix - dependant on the multi-part-ness of each individual figure, as well as which parts and how they attached.

How did you choose to get stuff shipped? I chose a single shipment and so will be among the last to receive anything. If you did the same, you may be in the same boat even though everything you pledged for has been made.

Sorry to cause confusion. I had meant to write my statement this way:

I as well have not received my first shipment (Wave 1 & 2) of the 2 shipments I paid for.

Granted, I asked RH about a month ago to switch out all of my metal figures for resin ones, since I'm not a gamer and I'd rather be able to convert easily. I also asked because it was clear that they hadn't shipped my stuff yet. They said no problem, which made me happy. So I'm willing to give them some slack if my figures haven't arrived yet. But I'd like to hear how they respond to Azazelx and see if I should jump on their case then.

Agreed. I'm in the position where I might be waiting on some of the later waves and it would have been irked a little bit to see all the heroines and troops from my pledge on general release before I had mine. A bit selfish possibly, but probably still true.

I had expected RH to release stuff though as it became available. I'm sure they'd like to. So yeah, kudos.

Yeah I'll have to echo that sentiment, I'll be getting everything in one big lot, and it's almost guaranteed to be amongst the last since I went for the cyber zombies unit. Would have rather irked me to see everyone getting the other shinies a long time before I got mine.

This perhaps also shows that they've been managing their funds well enough. Some people feared that most, if not all of it had been spent on "ladies of ill repute and the white powder that has an addicting smell to it", but it looks like they've planned out that aspect well enough, even accounting for a bajillion redesigns and scrapped models.

Asharah Raging We will be doing an Update most likely next week, as we have new 3D printed masters coming in every few days now. And here's the 'unofficial news': the last few remaining models of Wave 3 are slotted to be off to 3D print by next Monday, except for one Mecha and a trike or two... And the foundries are churning like mad (I hope that's the correct english word?) to get the troops out ASAP, although ATM I cannot yet commit on more precise dates than we said in our last Update for them.

This is from the Asharah Raging Facebook page in response to questions about wave 3.

So, what's the best way to sell your TGG commitment? I really have too many armies sitting around unpainted, and I've realised that, even when these finally arrive, I won't ever get around to using them!

I have a login to the TGG store and $170 of store credit (plus all the freebies).

How do I do this? Sell the login and credit? Sell the credit order for the buyer using my login? Or just spend all the credit on wave 1 stuff and sell it when it arrives? I guess this last option would make the most sense if there is a gap between the models being available on KS and the models being available for retail, assuming that there is a market for them?

I second the troops boxes idea. You'll make less profit/incur more losses, but you'll find it easier to offload them, I think.

At 170, you'll get a lot of multiples of a rather narrow range, at the moment. That'll mean a lot more different customers, and more shipping.

Aye there's always someone chirping up with 'where can I get these' or 'are they in your store' on the various places renders etc get posted, could always chase up a couple of them too.

If it wasn't so close to Christmas and right after a new cambelt and set of discs I could've been at least tempted, but I ought to behave too, got shelves full of unpainted to work through.

Nothing outside of Wave 1 (so 23 models) plus a few extras are "available." All troop boxes are in limbo at this time, making the trip between wave 2, wave 3 and never quite often.

So you'd also have to be patient for a few months (ah!) still.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say around about a lynch mob out of ten, seriously the bashing they'd get in the comments would be so unbelievable that it would probably hurt the funding level. It'll probably happen at least a little bit even if they complete this one before it, with many mentions of late deliveries and terrible communication, but by then we'll all either have forgotten or the pretty pictures will make us pledge again anyway.

No chance. Not only have they shown they're incapable of even pretending to work to the initially stated(or even repeatedly revised) schedule, but for all their blethering about how much they would strive to recreate the concept art in perfect detail only three dimensionally they've also shown that you're rolling the dice on whether the model you get looks anything like the art they used to get you to pledge(look at that big'un for example, concept art of a gigantic thuggish mistake of science, end result was a pinup BBW), and hell even any renders they show may or may not bear any resemblance to the final product depending on how many times they come out of their absinthe-induced artisté-coma and decide to shred the metaphorical canvas and begin over again.

By the time I actually get these bloody models and then put them in a drawer for a few weeks/months until my annoyance fades enough I can actually use them in a project without being put off, I'd have been as well to not pledge at all and just wait for them to go out on general release, and so in the unlikely event I ever decide to give them my money again, it will be at retail and via a reputable third-party store.

There may be an angry mob, but remember, there will also be the people who go "Eyyyy, come on guys, the wait will be worth it" and "Oooh, another one? I don't care, take my money!"

And we all know who they listen to at this point eh?

I quite understand those who had projects they wanted these for steering well clear of any future KS from them,

but since I liked the initial shipment, and am (reasonably) convinced I will eventually see the rest and just got them to paint I'll take a look at what's on offer and decide based on that

(with a clear expectation of adding a year or two to the delivery date)

as long as I don't waste all my fun money on KS delays don't hurt too much

Ill be backing their further projects but with a more skeptical eye

Their figures are the only ones I'm painting now ( with the exception of the odd Infinity figure) so ill just put it on the in 2 year burner

Sisters of Battle are my favorite 40K army, so I'm obviously a masochist. Not so much so that I'd back a Raging Heroes Sisters Kickstarter though

I'll back an RH Sisters army, but so far have been sorely disappointed with the concept art.

I can see even the most staunch RH defenders are getting disappointed in the comments now. But as this guy writes:

I am just so BORED with this KS now.

No interest at all!

I feel the same way. It's not even amusing to point fun at them anymore. I don't even care about the miniatures and there's like 300$ worth left to be delivered.. I'm not sure I'll ever be excited with a KS, RH or otherwise. :(

RH appears to be the best prescription for those looking to get burned by a KS into not pledging on anything else for some time to come.

Nah, that would be Sedition Wars, the game that people see on sale at 75% off and say "the bases are probably worth it".

Aye.. I'm a Sedition Wars survivor, I put nearly £250 into it... got back around £150-180 which I consider a bargain all things considered.

This wait is still not my longest, and tbh, as long as they deliver I'll be happy, the quality is there, and I knew what train I was boarding when I made the pledge,

I think thats the key consideration for Kickstarter.. pledge like you don't expect to see it for a year ish at best and you'll be fine.

I bailed on Sedition Wars and I'm glad CMoN acted like they did and turned me away from that one, dodged an artillery round with that one for sure.

Twas the final nail in the coffin for me, thats for sure, this and sedition wars were the first and last wargaming related kickstarters I ever go in on, Im just going to stick with what I know from now on.

Shame really KS was such a great way to support niche products that wouldn't survive standard business models. But every artist team seems to have eyes bigger than their stomach. Only mantic seems to get away with KSing everything and their morning coffee.

It's surprising how consistently late the RPG or wargame kickstarters I've backed have been. There are three I backed that were meant to deliver in 2013, but still have no indication when they'll be arrive. I think that for certain categories, there should be a routine in the Kickstarter software to automatically add 6 months onto all delivery estimates.

6 months wouldn't help in many cases, a few of them are going a year + right now.

To date, this is the only kickstarter Ive pledged that arrived on time:

Actually it came ahead of schedule.

Only one that's been on schedule for me so far has been Zombicide, but that was CMoN's first one, so go figure.

Though another one I backed not that long ago has also started shipping, it's US backers first right now, but hey, they're shipping on time as promised.

Not.a.single.one.

Even one that was casting things as the campaign was running ended up being 6 months late, as the caster lost his job and went into hiding.

Ugh. I have to say, though, Dreamforge still holds my personal record, unfortunately. The complexity and scope of that campaign was a bit greater than this one, though.

Got my Mechadrome stuff last week, and that was scheduled for next month

But other than that I'd put an estimate of 10% of KS I've backed have been delivered on time - that's across books, films, miniatures and games. Dreamforge, then very closely followed by Judge Dredd are my longest two. Been so long that I've actually lost my notes on what I ordered from Dredd, so going to be hard pressed to know when it is complete for me.

I don't think it's surprising. People forget that, after all, this is a business.

Kickstarters for RPG/tabletop, hell even video games, are usually done by fans and fanatics who have a nice little idea for something (or think they do). They usually have a certain technical/artistic skill but they lack any kind of business sense. If they had it, they probably would have been running a business already. Unfortunately to run a business you need a business-minded person, but most "technical" people consider them useless vultures and would never hire one, so there you have it.

There are a whole lot of BS generalizations here.

I don't know why this problem seems to plague miniature game Kickstarters, but it often seems to fall apart in the manufacturing end.

Is it due to poor initial estimates, production problems, volume being massively increased via the KS, some combination of these, or other reasons altogether? I don't think we have a big enough pool to see good trends yet.

Why BS? Just look at RH. They clearly have no idea how to run a business. They know how to sculpt , they are really good at it, but they fail at every other aspect. I think it' s mostly because it seems so easy - just sculpt a few things, cast it and send it off. Then money starts flowing your way, you have to do stretch goals (after all everybody has them!) and you start promising more and more not thinking much about how can you deliver this on time. I think it's mostly due to lack of experience on how to run such projects.

Well, if we need such broad generalizations, business minded people seem to be equally incompetent running a business because they focus on "efficiency" parts and let everything else crumble.

Truth is kickstarter is a beast that one should not approach as a company, neither as creator or as backer backers should be ready to accept a more wide delivery gap and creators should put a line in stretch goals and say, from here on its a new delivery date.

Now on this kickstarter I think RH underestimated a lot of things, first of all what the backers wanted, as is evident from the initial "heroic" 3D prints, they underestimated what they offered and how it will affect their delivery time and underestimated the need of communication, I am not sure if somebody with "business sense" would fare better.

Their "artist" problem is not knowing when to stop revisiting a sculpt.

All of the above are lessons their next kickstarter will be a testament if they are capable fo learning or not.

But I have been on both sides of the KS spectrum both as somebody creating content and as a consumer And although both ks went slightly over our estimates, It did go out and I believe the majority of people were happy.

I can see why creators use Indiegogo and for small projects its fine. I'm going to use it myself soon to create a project. I've always helped never run one so wish me luck.

Communication is key in keeping your backers happy. That and positive incentives for waiting.

I don't think they will have learned anything regarding communication, however maybe with time frames?

Sure, you need a good balance in both. The numbers guy must be there to reel the artist in, but also should not keep him down too hard. I think this is most prevalent in large companies where the two are isolated and there is no human interaction between them.

If anyone could use reeling in, that's RH.

Communication is key in keeping your backers happy. That and positive incentives for waiting.

RH? Nope. It' s been a long time, I am starting to believe that the communication guy they hired never existed.

No no no.

all you naysayers are crazy

the expensive and professional camera setup is being used to take the pic of a guy taking a pic.
You can tell by the awesome light and grain filters they used.
the only thing better would be if there was a professional video crew recording the guy taking the pictures of the guy taking pics of the models. It would be like Inception!
