I was going through my old board games the other day and found this!

This is an old boardgame designed to be sort of a light DnD experience without the role playing. Copyright 1989 - 1990 making this thing about 20 years old! The box and some of the items have seen better days through, time took a harsh beating to these things. I remember playing this with my cousins so much to the point that we MEMORIZED the entire main quest book. I also have two of the expansions (but missing half the box for the one) and maybe even thinking of updating the models with models from Warhammer Fantasy.

But I also am bringing this up here for an other reason too! Check the lower right corner!

Anyone else remember playing this back in the day?

Yup, had this plus the various expansions they released. I also used to play Space Crusade too (which was a kind of Space Hulk lite).

Yep, I've still got mine tucked away under the bed.

If you have a quick look on Evilbay some of the rarer expansions (like "agianst the ogre horde") are going for anything up to £80 if in good condition!

We still play ours. We've been playing through with my fiance's little brothers, and having a blast with it. We have all of the normal expansions... Tried getting a hold of the more rare Elf-and Barbarian-quest expansions, but they go for well into the several hundred dollars on the second hand market.

I've been slowly painting up the miniatures... what I have done so far is here.

The expansions are ridiculously hard to get hold of. I had Heroquest and the Kellar's Keep expansion from a charity shop when I was young for all of £2 and played it many times. Recently I saw a expanded version of the game in another charity shop for 75p and snapped it up. It's got extra figures in it, all human knights that were also used in the Wizards expansion set. The extra booklet in the game has a continuous game that reuses the main board several times in one sitting to journey your way across and back.

If you like Heroquest you should check out Descent from Fantasy Flight Games.

It's like a much better version of Heroquest. Fantastic.

Ah happy memories Mine was ditched about five years ago when the parents were having a clear out of their house. Some of the minis were great fun, I particularly liked the Chaos Sorcerer who I painted with a red skull. I used to have the Ogre expansion too. £80 you say Squilverine? Bother!

I finished my full set of Heroquest and all expansions about 2 years ago some bits and pieces were hard to come by. What made it difficult if I remember was the Elf and Barbarian Expansions were USA only and the Ogre and Wizard expansions were Eurpean only. In total there were 7 expansions 6 actually game ones and 1 that was a make your own quest thingy.

I used to play hero quest with my family back when it was still a "new" game. over the years and several thousands of miles of moving cross-country most of the pieces went missing, but about 6 years ago I found a near-complete set at a flea market.... bought it for $1. added my few models to it, and my family still likes to get together occasionally to play a few rounds (family has grown to include a few brother-in-laws, and I'm the only one who had the game memorized from back in the early 90's so my sisters are playing it though like its the first time.... but with nostalgia)

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

I recently got back into a HeroQuest kick with a couple of friends. I luckily still have the complete game, but I was desperately searching for the expansions and had little luck (aside form hideously expensive ebay results). I finally stumbled upon a site that appears to be legally posting scans of all the expansion quest books, including print outs for the cardboard pieces:

Enjoy.

Freaky, I was going to make a thread earlier on in the week about Heroquest.
Many happy memories of this game, I had all the expansion sets. I must root out it again for a game.

Is it as good as I remember or is it a little dated/simplistic nowadays?
