As was said earlier, I think that bit was setting the table for some significant Necron fluff adjustments away from Dalek-style EXTERMINATE and toward more intelligent and mysterious actions and motivations.

Sorry, Marines aren't "genocidal maniacs". They engage the Emperor's foes, and have a responsibility to not be completely stupid in their duties.

With Dante not being y'know...an idiot, engaging a freshly arrived, heavily armed force would be one of those actions that would go against the whole "not being completely stupid" part.

As for Necrons...fluff changes. With no C'tan present, it's entirely possible that the Necron Lord present just saw the beaten Blood Angels as no threat.

Here some points:

1.) The jetbike remark by Jes is understandable. I posted the DE/CWE jetbike comparison on this page:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/240/319245.page

2.) Some people like Harry said that Hellions are their favorite DE models, so I would wait with a final judgment. Guess the modellers didn't pay attention to the fact that there are male and female arms as well

3.) Reavers and Raiders come with a special style of flying stand that has a ball joint which clicks into a hemisphere on the underside of the model and makes it MUCH more stable than the regular flying stands pins. Not sure if these are the same as with the new Land Raider and LOTR fell beast.

4.) As the specialty item is a representation of the warp portal, someone over at Warseer pointd out that we might see them in the background from the warrior box art:

BrookM wrote:I've pre-ordered a box of Wyches and a box of Warriors, I can hardly wait.

Let's see if I get mine before you again, as with the Deathwatch and "Into the Storm" books

BTW who is now winning the big Dakka bet? Don't know the exact wording but you can preorder and pay all stuff and you can hold the preview Codex in your hands at the GW store.

I just noticed the new DE codex is supposed to be 96 pages. That's double the size of the old one. While a few new pages will involve units nodoubt, I can't imagine the 'hobby' section taking up more than is in the current codex. So potentially there's about 40 new pages of definition and fluff.

I have to say, the urge to preorder randomly without knowing what it is I am buying (in regards to rules) is overwhelming... REALLY hoping someone gets their hands on a codex soon and posts some in depth info online.

Rather than polluting this thread with the discussion, I created a separate thread discuss "the bet".

I think everybody would appreciate it if such discussion were contained within that thread.

Yeah, thats what I'm worried bout. I have money... but I need it to cover rent and buy food, so I can't just go spending it willy nilly just because it looks nice. It has to be halfway decent and fit with whatever crazy theme I decide to go with.

You guys really liked the new Urien model? Hm. That was the one model that I was 'meh' about. Just a little too silly for me. Juan Diaz's greens looked better imo.
Ravager was exactly what I expected. And the Mandrakes are as amazing as I could have hoped.
I'll have to reserve judgement on the Hellions. I was expecting more that just Warriors on Skyboards, but I like their weapon and the new Skyboard design.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.

So there's going to be a second wave of pre-orders available on October 19th, and the first pre-orders won't ship until November 6th?

I guess that means I have to hold out for 11 more days then. I'm certainly going to want some Mandrakes and Ravagers and I might as well place one order and save on shipping.

So pick a single box that interests you as your preorder, alongside of the Codex.

Or let the dice decide.
1-2: Box o' Wyches.
3-4: Box o' Warriors.
5-6: Box o' Reavers.

It's win/win/win either way

Assuming there even is a new BattleForce, I'd suspect that it would have 10 Warriors, 10 Wyches, 1 Raider and 3 Reaver Jetbikes.

Get the hell over the Necrons+Blood Angels ignoring each other in the face of a shared enemy. Seriously. It's waaaaaay past time to move the feth on past that one bit of fluff, which quite possibly could be an indicator of the way Necron fluff is going to progress(to where the Lords and Necrons proper behave more independently than they did in the past).

It's not your army...you wouldn't understand It would be like having Dark Elves and High Elves team up to destroy a Chaos Warband then leave each other alone after the battle.

While the idea of them bieing allies, even for a short time, is unlikely I would like to see a bit of change in the Necrons. Im about to start a Necron army and it would be nice to have the freedom to add a little personality to it.

Nice to see a sneak of the fortnight later models.

The Mandrakes look like they'll live up to their concept art, which is very impressive. Urien actually looks awesome and disturbing.

The plastics are good, but it is the metals that are currently the most tempting for me. Looking forward to Jes' comments this week.

I'm not entirely sold on the Hellions...the head and arms just seem off. But I'll wait to see more examples.

I...I also like the old Urien more. The fleshy servo harness is creepy...but the model isn't THAT impressive.

You missed the fact that the purple one has wings...

Also, AFAIK those arent tattoos on the mandrake, its warp energy I think.

I think it's about time GW rip Blizzard off a bit no? Turnabout is fair play and all that lol.
