yeah,
I'm in full support of Doom Guy being recruited to fight the strain... It seems like the kinda thing he'd do.

Doom..

Or a pair of Fox / Mulder X-File Agent types looking for the "truth out there" ?

Or a couple "Men in Black" even ....

Or Johnny-5 from "Short Circuit" ?

ooh, oooh .... or Mini Me in his wee little man space suit ?!

Tribbles !! YES !!! With Strained versions, too !!! FTW !!!

OK, getting silly now ...

Otherwise, what about one of these guys?

The awesome little robot dudes from 'Silent Running'

Otherwise, a couple of other ideas:
- Captain Kirk
- Doctor Who
- 'Macready' (Kurt Russell's character) from 'The Thing' (armed in winter gear, and flamethrower of course!) - I mean come on, the 'Strain' are basically the 'Thing' anyway!
- Randy Roddy Piper from 'They Live' (complete with special sunglasses)

Huey, Duey, and Louie!!!

Oh MY!!! Where did you find those at!?!?!?

Haven't seen that movie in years!

As for Kurt Russell- Snake Plisskin. Or some of the guys from Ghost Of Mars....

Do these guys size up well with Hasslefree minis?

A couple of others, might be Dieter Laser, from The Human Centipede, Bishop/ or other Synthoid from Aliens.

I haven't seen a Lance Henrickson mini, yet.

Another one to look at would be Rutger Hauer from Bladerunner.

I've personally enjoyed a lot of the homage characters, especially the firefly crew. Probs won't use them in-game, but they'll be a lot of fun to paint up!

That being said, I have a horrible feeling the final stretch will be someone like master chief. I really, really hope not (there's so much sci fi stuff to plunder!), but it'll definitely be a populist choice...

In the end they made 55k yesterday. That's their biggest day to date. For the 26th (which it still is in some parts of the world) they've made 30k, which is their 4th biggest day, and the day isn't over yet.

Well, MC, did fight the Flood which have similarities to the Strain.

But we already have one head-to-toe armoured guy. Much as like MC, I hope he isn't included.

Yeah... I feel adding the Chief would water down the experience. He's too ubiquitous and banal. We need obscure/oblique references to other things.

Grr....I'm just having such a hard time choosing what I want to get of the extras. With a wedding in a week and being out of work right now, finances are tight.

I've mostly decided that I only want the product that I can not only play the base game with, but which would also have the most utility in the skirmish-level games I want to play outside of Alabaster Station with the main game's models/rules. I think right now the favorites are the Opticamo Vanguard, and Ridley, and maybe one other figure set. I really want the Calamity Crew as they are awesome to paint(and I'm a Firefly fan- duh), but they have very low utility in a skirmish wargame, where (both) versions of Ridley and the Evolved Proto-Phaedrus definitely do.

Argh! So much cool stuff, so little moo-lah!

So, this 500.000$ game has...

ALIENS
Dead Space
Serenity
Riddick

The other 700.000$ game has...

Die Hard
Pulp Fiction
Big Bang Theory
Machete
Kill Bill

Originality is completely overrated

I'm just watching here that CoolMiniorNot is making like 1.500.000$ with these products.

And part of this incredible success is because they are using characters from other franchises, and they do not own the copyrights to do that.

It is a very attractive idea: -"Let's put Bruce Willis in this!!!" and it generates a reaction: -"Wow! Die Hard! cool, take my money!"

And I think this is getting dangerous because you'll never know when the lawyers are goign to kick some doors and try to get some of that excepcional ammount of money.
Of course, this doesn't happen in the miniature industry because it is so small and it makes no money... until it makes 1.5 million dollars through crowdfounding.

I like the basic ideas of both Zombiecide and SeditionWars, but I think the funny cameos can bring some problems when this is getting as big as 1.5M$

The thing is... Ok, Batman is cool but you cannot use him in your next Kickstarter project.

The US(where CMON is based) allows parody for the purpose of entertainment. This type of homage falls under parody and is thus protected under Fair Use.

At least from my understanding of law covering parody.

I think the tone of Sedition Wars and Red Dwarf would clash too much for that to work well.

I think one of the only Star Wars characters you could get away with is some version of Boba Fett - a bounty hunter looking for rebel Firebrands. But including not-Boba Fett would just look a little too much like pandering.
