Franklly I couldn't disagree more, Game of Thrones is I think the best series currently being made, and to me is the most anticipated.
Though I certainly can agree to the principle of using Voyager as a yardstick for bad TV.
I find it hard to believe that rape and incest are now cliches.....
I cant be fethed contributing to chromedogs "too cool for school" comments, so I'll just say that watching a manky prozzie neck on with an auld bloke shortly after Littlefinger mops some baby gravy off her grid was one of the funniest things I've seen on TV in a long time.
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

I don't hate it, so much as that I'm utterly indifferent to it. I enjoy all the other series and still watch them on occasion on the TV when they re-run or on Netflix. Voyager just doesn't compel me to do this. Now, with that said, 7 of 9 is the hotness.

You've never been to Arkansas, have you?
I'm thinking the first episode of the 2nd season was a little bland. I wish there would have had more to it.
And to all of you fine folks that have read the books: Thank you for using spoilers!
I will eventually get off my ass and read the series. until then, I appreciate the spoilers.

Looks like the Queens English to me? I don't see what the fuss is all about?
Maybe those that don't understand it should smoke more, rather mattyrm smoke less.

Somehow I doubt Her Majesty speaks like that.

Don't fight it Orlanth, you know you've already visualized it.

Wacky language and Star Trek aside, this season has some of my favorite things in it. Arya and her little adventure as well as some of the really interesting characters she is going to meet. Some really big battles and Daenarys and her little buddies.
I am excited about Sunday, despite people trying to get me to watch it online already.....

I'm leery of advanced showings of shows. I keep thinking its just a bad virus waiting to happen. but I'm patient I can wait til sundays.
I've never read the books (and shouldn't have to in order to enjoy the show if it's actually good), but the show is a big letdown for me.
There is one scene that perfectly sums up the rest of the show. The one where the Grand Maester is telling Ros about all the kings he served under and that there's one thing about all kings. He then begins to ramble on until she grows impatient and asks what that one thing is, but he's already forgotten what he was talking about. So she leaves, annoyed.
Similarly, the show tries to tell a story about all these characters, and acts like there's a point, but then it begins wandering around between all these subplots until it loses where it's going. Which leaves me annoyed and asking, "what's the point?"
I'd rather see a lot more about Tyrion and everything involving the Night's Watch. Just cut the rest of the crap out. Dispense with "game of thrones" and commence with "winter is coming."

Meanwhile, I'm just as interested in Arya and Cersei Lannister, as much as I hate her.

When reading the books, some of the pov characters did drag for me, but in the series I've found myself being interested the whole time. Probably because of the format change.
Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

Then read the books, you'll get a lot of Nights Whatch and Tyrion there. Also, you'll probably better undertsand why everything is wandering around. It actually makes sense!

You missed the point of that Pycelle was not trying to educate a prostitute, he was feeding her gossip. Pycelle puts on the appearance of being a senile doddering old fool, probably for Littlefingers benefit. When she leaves his whole body laungage changes, he sharpens and exercises himself before appearing hunched again before leaving the room in the brothel.
This scene is not in the book as Pycelle is not a POV character. The series allowed Martin to include scenes he wanted to include but couldnt without adding extra POV characters at the wrong times.

My wife and I were wondering about Ros to since she was only briefly mentioned in the first book as a whore in the North. I think the idea to include her works out pretty well actually.
Spoiler:
First she's the object by which Littlefinger gets to describe his encounter with Brandon Stark and some of his motivations (only used in thought in the book since everyone involved knows and doesn't need to talk about it).
Secondly the Pycelle thing which is alluded to but never really confirmed in the books.
And thirdly I get the feeling that she's going to take the place of the brothel owner (they already started to groom her in the first episode of this season) that Tyrion uses when seeing his whore in Kings Landing.
Basically I think it was a smart way of giving us information we might not have and of cutting down on casting new characters for one off encounters.
As a sidenote I like the way the show visualizes some things only alluded to in the books. The way Varys, Littlefinger, and the Lannisters get information. In particular Varys's little birds and his alliance with Illario (i think that's his name).

Well when Tyrion arrests Pycelle by storming into his quarters with Shagga he finds a naked serving wench with Pycelle who was also naked at the time

And simply add characters, Ros isn't in the book.

Pycelle is in Cersei's pocket

Just because he has a lady of ill repute in his bed doesn't mean that he's spry. The show effectively showed that where the book only eluded to it. Hence my statement

I agree. There's also that thing with Renly and Loras.

What do you guys think about the second episode?
It was fairly good with the exception of stannis and melisandre's action

These first two episodes have done a pretty good job of keeping myself and my guests interested and wanting more. We noticed that the second episode started to diverge a lot more from the books than I think most things have done so far.
Spoiler:
First, Dany's bloodrider coming back...dead. Makes me wonder if they're going to kick her storyline forward, especially since some of the previews for later in the season show what might be Unsullied.
Second, Jon getting accosted in the woods, along with an early glimpse at a white walker. Not sure what's going on there. It could just end up coming back to the book's plot relatively easily, or it could branch out more.

I don't think that's really too unexpected. It's been pretty heavily hinted at in the books. Also, in regards to Melisandre:

Yes, it was.
Spoiler:
I got the impression that the shadow that attacks Renly was Melisandre's and Stannis' "offspring." I'm also kind of excited since I'm not quite sure what's going to happen in the next few episodes. The stuff with Danaerys and that bit with Craster weren't in the book, so all bets are off!

I'm hoping they don't get too far ahead with Dany's story myself as the Unsullied are pretty well into the 3rd book... However, there are Unsullied serving as private guards in Qarth, so perhaps next episode will have Dany's little band entering the city and introduce the likes of Pyat Pree and Xaro Xohan?
However, I honestly can't wait to see Drogon go apest nuts in the Palace of Dust!

Your first suggestion would definitely cut out some otherwise pretty uneventful waiting around. I'm hoping it's that. Should be awesome.
