My two cents:

The dwarf hands aren't doing it for me. They are just too big, imho. I don't know if you used them on more than two guys, but the ones that I saw were the two on the left.

Yeah well, This is the bane of every Catachan Army I'm afraid. The hand on the post is a Dwarf Hand, but the cranker guy's hands are both Catachan grenade throwing hands. Even on the original Catachan Sprues, hands are all inconsistantly chunky. On the new Command sprues they are human-sized, and on the HWT sprues they are different yet. If you have a suggestion for open or gripping right hands, I'm all ears. Otherwise this is whatcha get!

The Catachans have evolved with these physical characteristics.
That was my conclusion when I noticed how big their hands are.

The command are from a different caste so their hands are smaller.

Catachan has a higher-than-Earth gravity, so humans develop shorter and more muscular. There will be no damn castes or bluebloods, or any such class crap in any of my fluff. This is Sci-Fi, I get enough of that gak in real life.

If you all really can't deal with the big hands then I'll paint them brown and call them gloves.

HAHA, that's some very smart problem solving! Much simpler than finding the perfect bitz. Hands can be so hard to match, especially with those catachans. Every arm is a different size. I think calling them gloves could be a great bit anyway, to add to the utility of reloading a giant gun.

I was kind of impressed with the way I did the cranker hands myself, considering they are both the same left hand (I sliced the thumb off the right) and drilled them both to give the natural pose of an overhand grip one would use on such a crank.

Man, I saw one of these in my local FLGS, and I wanted one.

Now I have to buy one.

Things really are looking great here! When you work at such a high level, the CC gets kind of nit-picky So, if you think about it, the lame "big hands" CC is really your fault

i saw this and was simply like ...OMG IT IS BUEATIFUL.......i can see the fluff working out for it as well as the weapon . it looks SOOOO good i plan t get some russian hinds in my army thinking it would make it look awesome and u've just Blown me away....so say ...where did you get one of these again

It was originally a Renwall Kit from the 1960s, now the rights and molds for Renwall are owned by Revell and they have re-popped this kit as well as some others, but apparently those are now discontinued. Leave it to Revell to quit making kits everyone wants and keep re-issuing the ones no one wants.

I got mine at Phil's Hobby Shop in Defiance OH but it can be found online still if you google it.

man... did i miss out on so much... that disco bunch of catachans can partee like anyone!!! really splendid work mate! had to imidiatly go to your big gun thread again when i went home! the idea of giving the hands a gloved look would be a good idea... maybe if you are still aplying the green putty you could add a sort of ring around the wrists to show that this ios a glove?

I bought 10 lbs of air-dry clay. When I'm feeling like getting messy, I will roll up an ass-ton of sandbags, I am thinking I need to capture the feeling of a Vietnam firebase to pull it off.

Sandbags are always good, try to avoid making them too big. I know from my first experiments that it's all too easy to end out with things that look like 50 kg mealie sacks.
I have a one small FW piece (Steel Legion HB base) that looks like they are behind a stack of Futons!

Rolled/draped camo nets are also good for breaking up big spaces; tool boxes in a contrasting colour always look the part, there is a closed one in the Baneblade kit and an excellent open one with loads of spanner/wrenches in the SM Whirlwind kit, you should be able to get both from a bitz seller on eBay or elsewhere. I have pictures . . .

Great find with that overhead shot of the fire-base.
