I HATE Big Nobz - ridiculous buggers that won't die fast enough to me Thunder Hammer. I have found that the 2 games I've played, that if I'm the Assault Marine with T-hammer and Killing Blow perk, we made it to 19. Beat Wave 20 today and got to 21... curse those heretics! Then again they meant little to me and me mallet

Me and a friend with two strangers made it to the bonus round in the first sitting. Sadly, instead of listening to tactics they tried to take on the chaos hordes by themselves individually, ending up with all of them dead. It was just me and my hammer assassinating the stragglers. Sadly at the halfway mark of the bonus round, I was smacking around some bloodletter when a maul marine smacked me from behind and ended it.
Still, it's fun to see your tac and dev homies getting swarmed, only to drop into the middle of it and put hammer to face as they fall back and give fire support.

Gah, tactics is something 99% of the people I get lobbied in with, just dont understand. Most of the time they just run off and go one on one. Jesus christ thats annoying. I get sick of being the "last man standing" I even try to stick with one of them when they start that crap, but nope, they will dive off into a horde of boyz thinking they can take them all on. I still havnt fought against Chaos yet, get really close a few times, but in the end, the idiots on here just run off and try to be heroes

No, but it does knock them off balance rather quickly. It'll take several hits. Armored nobs take the most hits, followed by champions, then chaos marines and the other nobs.

Can't seem to get a group to stay around long enough to make it that far
What slot load out are you guys finding works best?
It seems like HB are awesome in the first few stages but quickly lose steam and 'ard boys show up.
Assaults seem vital, hammer on at least one as it's a great "broom" to knock people away
Tacs I haven't seen much use for yet
It seems most groups I'm in run 1 HB Dev, 1 Tac, 2 TH Assault, though if we have a pubber with us it normally ends up being 1 Dev 3 Assault or 2 Dev 2 Assault

Everything up to Shielded Ard Boyz takes 1 hit to kill. Shielded Ard Boyz, Nobz and shooty Nobz (both variants) take 2 hits. The Big Nobz take 4 hits. For Chaos the Bloodletters take 1 hit, CSM's take 2-3 hits. Never got to kill the deamon maul-weilding ones since they killed me first
I would suggest that while using the T-Hammer you take the Inpenetrable perk since ranged gunfire from shooty Nobz is a pain and will kill you if you aren't fast enough. Be very wary of taking on 4+ 'Ard Boyz at any one time with no back-up - you'll be bashed down to low health quite fast. Big Nobz you have to time a good combo of swings them jump away and come back - it was about the only way I could kill one by myself in the mess of wave 19/20. Oh and some good tactic I found: if there is a man with a HB on your team, act as his bodyguard. Seriously, you'll help each other out so much easier.
Oh and King, try sticking with someone you think needs covering if the group splits. The cap points tend to bring people together quite fast and a wise Assault Marine can pick up on a straggler. I did that a lot Automatically Appended Next Post: Sckitzo wrote:Can't seem to get a group to stay around long enough to make it that far

I've found that in the 2 games I've played, being the T-hammer guy saved the team No joke. In both I ended up with 1 Dev with either a HB or a PC and 2 Tacs with Storm Bolters. Favour of the Armoury can be a nifty tool for thinning hordes, but really you need either a Bolter or something else, because by Gork I was chewing threw bullets when using the Storm Bolter. And the Melta felt inferior which was sad.

Anything goes in the early stages, so long as the players are good. I recommend at least one devastator that's either HB or plasma cannon, at least one assault with a thunder hammer, and the other two are assaults and tacs. But we've gotten away with all assaults as long as the players knew when to retreat and stop swinging. Tacticals can be useful, certainly. A meltagun/vengeance launcher for example can really keep the Orks off of a devastator, the melta devastating the armor of any 'ard boyz that you come across. In the last stage, we had three thunder hammers and me as the awesome mcawesomeface plasma cannon devastator with iron halo and artificer armor, so I rarely died (mostly to my own plasma cannon). Most importantly though, the group needs to support eachother. Devastators provide fire support to assault marines-- such as my killing dozens of bloodletters with a single plasma cannon shot in the final stage... several times!-- and assault marines keep the big baddies off the devs. If you have 2 or three assault marines, it's okay to split up as long as you pay attention to others' health and move to assist them when they start taking hits. I haven't managed to find the best tactical marine loadout though. Meltagun is definitely in there, for how much damage it does to a sizable number of Orks when aimed right. Perhaps bolter with kraken rounds as the other one? Or stalker with burst fire?

I seem to find on tacs, melta/storm bolter. Ive tried Kraken rounds with a bolter, and it just simply sucks, in the beginning maybe, but once tougher Orks pop out, it feels like your just shooting and shooting and shooting, and not much is happening. The stormbolter on the other hand, and shoots so damn fast that it makes up for it, though youll have to switch out to the melta OFTEN, because once they get tougher your basically blasting with melta, and then switching to stormbolter and spraying a few down, then switch again. I also take the perk that gives you 4 grenades, that is VERY helpful in clearing out blobs of Orks, problem is, you never have enough grenades.
And yea, like I mentioned before, having a good team is crucial, I simply cant find one

I agree with KC, I think the Storm Bolter/Melta combo is the best...the only problem is eating through ammo too fast. I didn't like the Bolter w/Kraken bolts; it shot to slow and didn't do enough damage. The Plasma Gun is my favorite, but it suffers from the lack of ammo/slow ROF also. The extra grenades perk is really good, especially in later levels against those damned 'ard boyz...
I keep seeing people mention using the T.Hammer as Assault Marines...what about the Chain/Power Sword with Swordman's Zeal? I haven't tried it yet, but I think it should be good

The GAME retailer essentially blackmailed Relic into not selling Space Marine to players in the UK over Steam.

If you buy the game you still have to register it on Steam though, so you'll get to download it any time you want or install it directly off the dvd and merely download the patches.

The Last Chancer Who Survived

I tried some co-op games last night, a lot more fun than the death matches that to me were always kinda boring.
The games were a lot more fun, but I wasn't able to actually win any. I did one from wave 1-21 and the chaos folks wiped us out so fast. The chaos marines just wouldn't die, it was like each one was as tough big ork. I was only level 17, there was a guy that was level 41, and the other 2 guys were in the single digits.
This mode really needs other enemies though... like nids.

That's the big benefit to having two or three assaults and limited tacs and devs.

Thinking of Joining a Davinite Loge

We've found* that our best set up for the most part is one Dev, one Assault and two Tacs. Dev's weapon choice is up to him, although I personally prefer the plasma cannon. Tacs take a melta and // or storm-bolter. Assault is free to take what he wishes. Works well enough, so long as the group know each other fine enough.

Yeah I'd imagine playing among friends would be a lot smoother.. but, I never get the opportunity so I'm always just doing pickup games. I'll probably stick to assault just so I don't have to fend for myself so much and won't have to worry about running out of ammo. Or maybe do my tac setup for the first 5 waves, then switch. I just unlocked the thunderhammer so hopefully I'll do a little better with assault now
