I did like the 2nd ed rules for troops in the battlewagon - pile 'em high, but if they fall out while you move it, they take a hit based on how fast it was moving.

Looks like you're doing a good job on the restoration, Gits.

Ah I remember those. They also encouraged you to add platforms onto them to allow even more carrying capacity
Wasn't the downside that if something fell off while you were moving it, it had fallen off and needed to take a hit?

Thank you guys, I appreciate your comments very much.

Major supply drop over the past few days... let me walk you through it.

The AdMech Raiders I ordered, built... off ebay. I'm very impressed... someone obviously took their time building these. Just a little bit of touch-up filing needed. then the pile gets sent off to Nerdy for painting.

Two Kromlech wrecking balls for the Epicast trukks and 4 grot drivers. Two will be attached to my mekadreads so they fit the theme of my grot army better, one will drive the second Epicast trukk and the last is a back-up.

A fun Halloween project, also from Kromlech.

Found a gentleman to custom print some wheels for the second Epicast trukk. This poor thing has really been through it... broken in half, glued together, random stuff stuck on and about 1/8" of blue paint applied. I'm going to have to pour a tray of simple green and let it soak for a few weeks...

This is the really amazing part. Been decorating my house like mad for Halloween (it's my favorite holiday) and really wanted something Lovecraftian to put up... specifically something Cthulhu related. Found some neat stuff on Etsy but when I tried to order all kinds of alarm bells went of when what I think was a faux-PayPal payment page came up. Dissappointed, I resigned myself to another year without C-man represented when I looked closer in my Kromlech box. They always give you a little free-bee... guess what mine was? A 1/2" tall, tiny Cthulhu!! I couldn't believe it. It was perfect! Thank you Kromlech! You're awesome!

Nice find on ebay. I always love it, if someone has already taken the tedious task of building stuff and one has just to paint it (or in your case let Nerdy do the work ).
Love the Halloween squig and little Cthulhu is just adorable!

Nice looking stuff, both the retro and the new.

The painting comp is still running if you want to paint some of those new little guys for the Halloween Special.

How’s your Halloween army doing? Still have that? You should do a bait and switch horror show special for one of your campaign games. "Just when they thought the objective was secure, a warp anomaly weakened the fabric or reality, letting in all sorts of horrors from beyond the pale..."

Thank you guys!

@Nevalon: Funny you should mention that Nev... I do still have my Halloween army and was planning on painting a very special model (not one of those above) for it. I started painting it a year or two ago, then lost interest. Going to try some different techniques on it and see if it makes it more interesting. Also entering it into a local Halloween painting contest... I'll have to look up the dakka one and see if anything I'm working on would be appropriate.

The next battle Tyler and I have planned (this Thursday) will be a Halloween-themed Bushido game, pitting my Savage Wave (demons) vs his Yuta (witches & skeletons). We plan on some Halloween hijinks in the video. So it should be fun. Next week maybe we'll do something more Halloween/40k like. I've been wanting to film our 40k games too (just as summary reports, not all dice rolling)... but because the campaign is 4 weeks in there's so much explaining to do... Also at the moment we're playing in the dining room rather than my studio... and the lighting there is terrible.

As far as what's upcoming then, as soon as I finish this ork trukk (hopefully tonight) I'll begin work on the Halloween projects for the year. That squig, baby Cthulhu and this bad boy...

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Got the Kromlech wrecking ball built and fitted (by pin) on the trukk. Pretty much a perfect fit owing to the height of the arm. It's also a very impressive sculpt (like most Kromlech sculpts).

You should keep the 1/8” of lucky blue paint on the trukk. Ork theory goes that paints only good if it’s red enough to make it go fasta, or thick enough to stop small arms fire!

Graven, I can always count on you for a well-timed bump!

Chipping and rust done. Nothing fancy here, but it does tie it together nicely. I'm working on the wrecking ball and driver now, then on to the Halloween projects!

I think the interior fits really well on the truck. No need for ornamentation on the inside.

Well, it's done save for the grot driver who is in process. Not going to give him a very complicated paint job... just something to make him fit the part.

Just lovely. I like the chequers tying it together, but not overstated - and the splash of white accenting the rusty yellow and browns.

Very nice Gitz! The wagon is a great addition to your Ork army, are there rules for the squig in 40K?

Thanks Boyz! Unfortunately no squig rules, but I'll find a way to sneak him into the Halloween army... somehow.

Actually got a Bushido battle report posted. This is a little game filmed a while ago between my bakemono and Tyler's Temple of Ro-kan. Have one more old report to produce, then Tyler and I will be playing a special Halloween game which I'll be sure to get posted for the holiday. His Yuta vs my Savage Wave... so monster-on-monster action for you! Hope you enjoy this one in the mean time!

Wow, that truck looks great!

I had several of them, but they were so far down my painting queue that I sold them to a friend in the hope of seeing them on the table sooner.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

@Verterbi: Thanks Vert! The "trick" with ork weathering is that just when you're certain you've done enough... you add a little bit more. Just for emphasis!

@theCrowe: Actually these two defected from Buzzgob's camp and snagged his plans while they were at it!

@Nev: Thanks!

@CK: I feel the same way my friend. Get a special joy from bringing something old or beat up back to life.

@Fifty: I've done similar things with other models. I think it's the right thing to do.

@Syro_: Yeah, hard to believe it was a battlewagon originally... though I have a bunch of old metal orks and they aren't much bigger than gretchin. My grot army has a unit of the original metal ork bikers and they fit in perfectly with the grot theme.

So this morning's update. I have to do something Halloween themed each year. Going to try and get two things done this year, beginning with this little guy. Making pretty good progress I think. Of course blown up to giant size there are a million mistakes that I'm probably not going to bother fixing because they're invisible at the model's actual size. Just eyes, toenails, actual squig teef and a caterpillar to go!
