Ok, that makes sense I was thinking robes over armour instead of robes as armour (in a purely colour sense), spending too much time with orkses and not enough with beakies

Although - does that mean he should have a white boot?

@HAZZER: NP!

@SelvaggioSaky: I will. There have been a number of awesome Ork modelling threads pop up the last couple of days - make me want to join in

@monkeytroll: Yes, he has a white boot (though it will have metal bands/toe cap)

Right, some all over the place progress...

First, base coat of 1:1 Scorched Brown/Chaos Black on the satchels:

Ended up only being 4 Boyz with satchels, so because I had lots of leftover mixed up 1:1 Scorched Brown/Chaos Black I started on the battle damage:

Added some 1:1 Scorched Brown/Bleached Bone to the satchels (not a good pic...)

Then some 1:3 Scorched Brown/Bleached Bone (also not a great pic)

Didn't like the end result. Think I'll redo it in a lighter tan leather... Meanwhile, continued the battle damage with sponged Graveyard Earth:

Close up of the Meganob:

About time I tidied up - started using Chaos Black to clean up the untouched areas (still in progress)

Still have actual "down to the metal" scratches to do, as well as a bit of rust - but waiting until I do the metal for that (which is waiting on the Chaos Black tidy up)

Enjoy and Catchya!

I don't know!

Really like it man! Very effective. So do you use a sponge on all of the battle danaged steps?

Yes. I haven't been too happy with the sponge technique in the past - but practise practise practise! I think this has come out the best yet!

Cleaned up the Meganob with Chaos Black - no more Iyanden Darksun base coat Pretty sure I'm on the home run now.... Will do the same for the Painboy, then lay down some Boltgun Metal next I think. Oh, also re based the Satchels. I'm going to use the same colours again, I just think I need to take my time with it...

You may want to click through for that...

Yep, start of the weathering looks good so far

So, satchels, metals, weathering on the green armour(?), anything else to do?

@HAZZER: Thanks. It could be the reflection, or the Gloss Varnish I mix in with most of my paints, or both

@monkeytroll: Satchels, metals, only green armour weathering to do is maybe the Painboy shoulder pad (rest are done). Still need to complete white armour weathering, some bones/skulls, dust, rust, blood, glass, bases - I think that's it? Some more green to do on the Painboy, possibly some missed white across a couple of boyz - it's never ending!

Here is the Painboy cleaned up with Chaos Black:

@mullet_steve: Blood still to come. I figured it would be over everything, so have made a start on the weapons/metal and will add it last-ish

@CommissarKhaine, @monkeytroll: Thanks!

@HAZZER: Thanks! See above re blood. I'll have to think about the Nob when I get there Will do!

Right, so a first wash of Badab Black to set the base tone - Meganob:

Painboy:

And finished redoing the satchels. Did an additional step of pure Scorched Brown and took extra care with the consistency/application/blending - I think it's much better this time - Shoota:

That's all for tonight. Catchya!

Im loving the models brother but can i suggest maybe a black wash on the bases to darken and break up the sand on the base.
If not everything looks awsome anyway.
Peace

Never fear - the bases only have a base coat of Calthan Brown at the moment and will be completed last - to match the rest of my boyz.

@mullet_steve: Thanks.

@Alfndrate: Thanks. That was just the Iyanden Darksun base coat! Possibly that was biasing my opinion of it, but at least the metal matches my other Nobz...

@HAZZER: Thanks. Me too, me too (oh the modelling ahead...)

Tonight has just been sorting out odds and ends that had been missed - base coats for more red (Mechrite Red), white (Calthan Brown) and green (Orkhide Shade) as well as some skulls (Khemri Brown). Painboy got most of that (well, except the Khemri Brown), so he gets the pic:

You can see the start to the green stitching, some red cloth for extra colour and the beginnings of the missed armour plates on the peg leg...

Still have various power cables to do as well as the Painboy's syringe and poison feed... as well as everything else

Catchya!

@DrGonzo: Thanks.

@monkeytroll: There always is...

I'm having difficulty keeping track of everything now as I flit between each model, moving along things that have been left behind...

I know I've based the plethora of cables on the Meganob - here's a few:

And the skull work continues. The Boss Pole on the Nob is just Khemri Brown Base, Devlan Mud Wash and Khemri Brown Highlight at the moment, but already looking good IMHO - maybe I peaked too early

Looks like I need to see if I can do more with his teeth...

And I still need to do all the open mouths (tongues and gums)...

You know, amongst everything else

The painboy is really starting to pop now - and the armour on the mega nob is drool worthy!

I was kinda hoping you would keep the 'bone/yellow' claws on the mega nob (highlighted to white at the tips), but still looks great metal too!

Looking forward to seeing more (and inspiring me to re-start my own painting!)

@Gitsplitta: We call him Disco Stork. No, not really. He detaches from his base and rides the Trukk's Boarding Plank. He was initially supposed to stand a little more upright on his base, but it was never enough of an issue to fix...

@slice'n'dice: Thanks - and another preference for the bone/yellow klaws... I may need to look into that in future... do you think a red casing with bone klaws would look better still - or just silly?

Right. Work done, but no pics - no really, nuffin' ta aktually see tonight! I think I have everything that needs to be done before the rusting, dusting, oiling, bloodying and basing...
