You might not have to...
They're on the GW site still for $15; but I haven't tried to order them so I can't attest if you can get them there or not.

A model almost doubling in price because of the move to mediocre results in resin is not ok. Now I just need to get some money together!

GW is having a field day with "Be a Ninja Day" with their prices

Only two things

1. They're not good at being ninjas
2. No one knows exactly when "Be a Ninja Day" is

Because they're absolute bonkers, obviously!

I assume it's to put them in a specific "price band" by their logic, but it makes no sense.

It's also quite strange that they're Finecasting these models, while all of the old metal Vampire Counts Bloodlines models have vanished and the "generic" stuff has been made into Finecast.

Oh, except for Nagash. You can still buy him in metal!
Exciting right?

Runnin up on ya.

Look! A bunch of big kits that just scream "I'm a primary target for your cannons!"

If they want monster hammer, the least they could do is nerf artillery to make them viable.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

And as such... probably look really small and weedly when compared to GWs versions?

Nope, think again.

Headswaps even work out just fine between the 2 ranges.

Only thing that you have to deal with is that the weapons are true-scale, so you have to deal with the pain of not having handguns the size of tree trunks. :p

I'll be making a full-on Perry Empire army this year.

As a longtime Dogs of War player, I was hoping that the new Empire book was going to go back to a number of the classics of the 5th Empire so I could convert my army to a more updated book. Halflings, Foot Reiksguard, Kislevites, Ogres and tons of other things. I would have enjoyed the halflings to return at least (God knows apparently they made sure IG had updated models for them but not Empire). The new stuff is nice and pretty, but a shame that not more attention has been detailed to the footsloggers and the backbone that keeps the Empire alive with blood and steel.

Well least I have Leitpold to bring some Ironguts and hopefully a Giant option will be available for the new book for my mercs to take the field once more.

1. The griffin needs to go on a diet.

2. War Alter seems to me as: Get altar, get two Wizards FREE!

One Wizard.

Note they have the same body. It's the arms and head that differ.

The Luminark of Hysh seems to come with a model just for that build, so it might be two Wizards.

Just one Wizard, they use the same body, different arms. Unless you want to use the Acolyte as a wizard.

However, looks like the War Altar DOES come with a second figure:

Look to the extreme right.

Hmmmmmmmmmm......

Not sure. GW's strategy of making a big multi-kit and a bigger class of cavalry is kind of lame, I think. Those wagons... egh. Maybe fine without all the stuff on top

Can't say it won't tempt me whenever WoC hits and we get some crazy insane monstrous cavalry. But I wish they'd mix things up a bit more... and overall, I'm not at all a fan of / tempted by this release. But then again, I'm not a fan of empire

Cool to see griffons getting emphasized so much, though. They are one of the more interesting things about empire, to me.

GW should resculpt the bad units the are already made, though, rather than make big kits, I think...

Could we call him Ebenezer the Miserly?

How about Jacob Marley?

But yeah. Those wagons look like they will be good to at least steal bits from for scenery.

I'm sure we'll be fine

Until they make this for bretonnians

As long as WE, who arent known to be a "war machiny" army, doesnt get anything I suppose too, like a giant tree (not tree MAN, just a tree!) Knowing GW though, they want people to buy big things...that are slightly overcosted and fold over to cannons

I could go for a trojan horse, though!

And a monstrous tree for WE would be OK with me, too . I even made a thread about proposed rules for one two years ago! Back when WE were still decent...

Basically, I'm just finding the monsters they're making a bit uninspired. The Ogre one was fantastic, but the TK ones... egh. These fall into that category for me.

So, yeah... all in the execution! But it would certainly help to be able to mix things up and not have to release the same "categories" for every army.

Good to see the War Altar finally got a model worthy of its importance and value to an Empire army, I'm please I held off on buying the old model. I think I'll invest in that, and maybe, maybe the demi-griffon cavalry if their rules are reasonable. I'm not sold on any of the other new uber-contraptions, though, they all just seem kind of silly. Especially that light wizard laser thing.

But it is kind of funny that all the new war machines got spiffy horses that look big and muscular like horses, while knights still have to make do with their tiny ponies.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Technically the Engine of the Gods 1.0 from the Lustria supplement was the first death ray in fantasy. At least since 6th edition.
