I'm going to be using a fluff-based CSM list. It's quite good, but it's not fully super-duper optimised and min/maxed or anything.

Well, I've just finished converting a Canoness especially for the comp now

I think I'll bring a moderately strong list, seeing as SoB suck at anything below 1500pts But I think I'll leave the 3xExorcists at home now in favour of something a bit more, fluffy. Not that my codex gives me many choices in that regard!

1500pts

Gaaahh.

This was my thinking, and why I WON'T be taking the Squats - too many Guard armies already...

The current army breakdown for the tournament is...

6 x GUARD
5 x ORKS
4 x CSM
2 x MARINES
2 x TAU
1 x WITCHHUNTERS
1 x TYRANIDS

0 x ELDAR
0 x DARK ELDAR
0 x DAEMONHUNTERS
0 x MARINE VARIANTS
0 x NECRONS
0 x DAEMONS

So, Squats and Arbites are out (they're Guard and Witchhunters). I'm currently weighing up the options between Daemons and Harlequins... I wonder, would anyone let me use the 3ed Harlequin Codex? It's technically never been superceded.....! Otherwise, Slaanesh Daemons for me!

I'm happy with £2 each to get prize support sorted. I reckon it's best as one £48 voucher for overall winner, though, rather than splitting it between general/sports/paint. Best painted is its own reward in that everyone will be hugely complimentary. Best sportsmanship is also its own reward, as the winner is bound to be awesome company and so will just win at life.

i was thinking of going for a fun list where every unit was carrying some sort of template or blast weapon so i came up with this

[145] CCS, 4meltaguns, chimera(i know no templates here ......but wait the chimera has a hevy flamer so yay )

[050] PCS, 4flamers ( the perfect template unit(although it will prob get destroyed from range turn one in every game))

[060] infantry squad, grenade launcher, mortar

[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon (autocannons were added to use up points, although i may change these to on missile launcher and 2 mortars)

[050] PCS, 4grenade launchers

[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon

[065] infantry squad, grenade launcher, autocannon

[160] manticore rocket launcher

[190] lrexecutioner

[150] lrbt

i know i'll get murdered , especially in objectives or any mission involving movement but i think it should be a fun list its either this or my mixed arms involving 2 vendettas but the other one is less fun and more compettetive

will be fine for capture and cont though, template them off their objective ad just keep your, and you have enough men to swarm, objectives sounds good. anyone takes 2 vendettas clearly has no friends

UPDATE - First mission details (BP refers to Battle Points):

Recon.

Following planetfall, your forces must scout the location of enemy troops whilst maintaining operational security. If possible take and hold strategic points in preparation for the coming campaign.

Primary Mission: Units can score BPs for the primary mission if they are not falling back or pinned. Vehicles must be mobile to score.
If you have two or more such units in your opponents deployment zone - 8 BPs
If you have one such unit in your opponents deployment zone - 4 BPs
If your opponent has no such units in your deployment zone - 8 BPs
If your opponent has one such unit in your deployment zone - 4 BPs
Secondary Mission: After the players have picked their deployment zone but before any units are placed, each player, beginning with the first must place one objective marker in no-mans-land at least 12" from the board edges or the other marker. These objectives are captured as per normal rules (non-vehicle troop choices within 3")
Each objective marker is worth 2 BPs if controlled. If a marker is contested or has no units within 3", both players gain 1 BP each.
Setup - As per Pitched Battle (BGB page 92).
Game length - standard (5-7 turns).

Note that time is against you - even if you table your opponent they may still claim battle points if they have prevented you from acheiving all objectives - its not an automatic 20-0!!

So that's the first one guys and a teaser of what's to come. All missions are constructed in a similar way (with a primary and a secondary objective) so that there is a total of 20 points on offer that will always be split - ie if the players add their BPs together at the end of the battle it will always equal 20, giving you a quick error-check!
Hope that's given you a taste for more, I'll be putting the others up about once a week and more details will be sent out with the packs when everything is finalised.

See you all soon - C_C

When it says "non-vehicle troop choices" for capturing objectives, does that mean if you have a troop choice inside a vehicle, they can't capture unless they disembark?

@SilverMK2 - no, troop choices in a vehicle can capture objectives as normal (BGB p90 I think)

@covenant84 - this mission obviously favours fast armies, others will favour slower shooty armies, I've tried to make them as balanced as possible...

This mission sounds tons of fun - very hectic! Good job! Thinking my Mechanised orks will be alright for this one (-:

PS - scared of that template force! Phil you're right about the vendettas.

I've just started building something I hope to field in August. It is looking fun at the moment - I just hope it is worth it (in game terms - I think it will be a cool model regardless ).

Just had some details through from Nottingham - the bar is open until 10pm on the saturday (and if there's enough people wanting drinks to cover the staff costs they just stay open longer apparently )

Also, the bar's open until 10pm on the friday if anyone is getting there on the friday night and wants to go for a drink. Result

Finally, food for the saturday works as follows - we will need to place our orders by 1230 for a 1430 lunch. I'm trying to find out if they're saving a couple of tables for us or whether we just pile in. The timing is going to mean 3 games before lunch, with one game and presentations done after.

If I can get menus and a float sorted, are people OK with ordering when you register at 10? I can sort out change then and put a bulk order in without you guys having to leave the games. Let me know what you think...

Bugger it

I've just had another e-mail from Warhammer World about the food.

Apparently Bugman's kitchen can only cook 12 orders at a time so they can't cater for us all at once and are unhappy about us monopolising the kitchen.

That leaves us with 3 options:

1. Risk it and just wander in and queue up.
2. Arrange a buffet and/or pizzas with them (they are sending me the details)
3. Eat with the other tournament group who have already booked their food (the problem with this is we would need to eat what they have picked and would have to eat at the same time)

any thoughts??

Option 2 sounds the best I think, we don't want to be eating in the middle of a round or anything. People would chat tactics over the grub, hahah!
