My girlfriend instantly got into W40k as soon as she found out there were girls that kicked ass (ie SoB) in it. She is painting her army but has yet to play a full game though.

I know of at least 2 that I've gamed against personally.

But then again, I've never investigated their nether regions.

And even if I had, there's Kleinfelter's.

So who knows, and who really cares?

Hiding in a dark alley with a sharp knife!

Miniature wargaming just apeals to certain demographics more than it does others. It's predominately a male oriented hobby just as it's predominately a White hobby. That's not a value judgement, it's just a statement of fact. For example blacks in the US make up about 12-15% of the population (depending which set of statistics you want to believe) yet I have never encountered a wargame club were they are represented by anywere near that percentage.

Women/girls do game. But they tend to be attracted to the tabletop RPG side of the gaming hobbies rather than to wargames.

That being said in my 29 years in gaming I have met a number of female miniature gamers in general and a handful of Warhammer players specificly. Mrs. Trench Raider has played a number of times and enjoys it when she does get to play, but as is typical she prefers our RPG games to Warhammer and my real wargaming hobbies. Likewise the FLGS I currently play at is unusual in that we at one point had two female players: both single young ladies in their late '20s. One is a staffer at the store and is still there. Sadly the other dropped out of sight a couple of months ago. The general thought is that she may have aquired a non-gaming boyfriend. That's unfortunate as I rather enjoyed playing her.

Our club has several female members, and over the years I've met dozens at Games Days, GTs and tourneys(played several there as well), etc.

And Ice, you've got me worried, only 99% sure.............?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I have some Wood Elves for my GF to paint. I hope to get her to play a game at some point (I bought some VC's for myself to play against her if she ever wanted to have a game).

The only problem is that even if I am going to crush her armies, I will need to let her win as she is a terrible loser

Though I have discovered that I a need to work on my sportsmanship, as I was a bit sulky when my brother decimated my CSM on the first turn (I went on to win though ), so not everyone is perfect

See, I would, but the first request would probably get me banned from Dakka; the second is still up for debate depending on what you deem is real; for the third, I do have an answer to your sentence fragment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heisenberg_uncertainty_principle

Your move.

There are probably more female construction workers than female 40k players. As for personal experience I've only met one female 40k gamer IRL.

LMAO yeah even if that didnt get you banned a whole bunch of guys on here would have to try and show you up, chaos would ensue and the only one who would end up happy is Slaanesh. lol I'd like to see either of you prove your existance though, it'd be interesting if anything.

I have yet to meet a female 40k player, most of em seem to be people's GFs from what i hear. I wish i could get my GF to play, I'd even let her beat my ass every time. She refuses to take part in any form, except painting my guys in colors that clash with the theme i make for my army, (which somehow always ends up red and black unintentionally).

I personally know three girls/women who play. One used to run the gaming section of the local hobby store. The second is an attorney who is more of a modeler than a player, but does play as well. The last is a high school girl who is just now getting started with building her first army.

Wow, those of you who have never seen a female 40K player need to get out more. Go to some large tourneys, GTs, etc. Heck, at the Waaagh in Memphis this year I played one young lady (Orks) and then wound up on the table next to her when she played another young lady (SoB). Vegas GT, I remember at least two young ladies there, got their picture showing off their Crux Terminatus tattoos. Other GTs, Toronto, Baltimore, Chicago, etc, always been female players present. Our local club, granted it's fairly large (over 100 paid members last year), but we've had numerous female players over the years.

My wife plays (She has a CSM army), although she's on a bit of a hiatus right now as it's too hard to paint with a baby around (she did play in a tournament whilst 8 months pregnant, however). She was a gamer before I met her but not of tabletop mini games (she played M:TG and the LotR cardgame, LotR minis got her hooked on tabletop! See, the game was good for something).

There's a few girls who play locally, a girl playing Daemons came second in the last tournament I played in.

Good taste right there, those dreads are awesome.

Their dreads do rock. Almost makes me want to play SM or CSM. Too bad they don't have a Blood Angels dread. :(

I like the orks stuffs they make too.

I have only met one female player and she was a swamp beast. I would like to see some attractive girls playing, but then I think from their perspective and there are probably some girls out their wondering why there aren't more straight guys into [insert typically girl activity]

Women? what are those? them things that have round squishy globes on their chest?

I've met a few at a random tournament in Long Island a few months ago. one was my firends woman, and the others could have been thought to be male unfortunately. But we're trying to get two employees at my LGS to play, but are reluctant to do so. They are out there, but just barely.

I got my GF to play the other day. Considering that the only other person I've played against is my brother, and I only know 1 other guy who plays, as far as I can tell the ratio of male to female players is 3:1

Maybe one day i'll get round to adding a signature, but probably not.

My local gaming group have a good bunch of females, maybe 1/4 of the 40kplayers, and a ratio well over 50% if you include all the pen and paper rpgers. It might be because we are one of the social clubs at a university with a lot of women, so we get lots of grown ups and we have good channels for recruiting new players.

As a shady case, my ex boyfriend has played 40k since before he had his sex-change treatments. So in some ways he was a girl then :-)
