There's also an eye of Horus on the belt, not sure if you want to keep that with all the purity seals and stuff.

You gentlemen are SICK. I mean that in the best way possible. The recent WIPs are just... wow. You make me want to redo my heavy-GS and work with the plastic. Simply amazing work, for ALL OF YOU.

I'm seriously impressed by the amount of work and thought that has gone into every single mini. I suggest we mass-email GWs site with ALL our work (both Baiyuan/PDH and Panic divisions). I'm honestly certain they're going to want to see what we're all up to- especially these heavy kit-bashes.

I liked the concept of it, but I admit the lack of lower jaw & general look didn't make it really "realistic" for a human head...

You're right in saying that I'm not entirely happy with the result, but I'm at least happy with trying! I feel very uncomfortable with GS, so every attempt is really a challenge to myself, and I feel I haven't screwed it at least, so that's a kind of Pyrrhic victory!
And it will probably make him stand out a bit more, turn it into something more original than what was just a mere "head swap"!

On a side note, one of the things I prefer on your model, surprisingly, is the fact that you kept the crooked right arm of the original model! It really gives him a grimdark feel!! Of course, the other details (=I= book & hooded/rebreather head are exquisite), but the right arm was something I had almost instantly dismissed in mine, whereas I now realize it gives such a dark character to your model!

As I said, he's a Radical Inquisitor... So yes, the Traitor Bolter & the Chaos icons are here on purpose : he's turning the weapons of his enemies against them! Otherwise I would've chosen a loyalist bolter, put an icon on the belt buckle & replaced the Eye with another icon / =I= rosette etc!!
Still, thanks for pointing it out, sometimes we can be oblivious to the most obvious things!!
As for OSL... Yeah, he'll probably get some!

Well, due my lack of skill with greenstuff, I went for a simple kit bash...I think rather succesfully. I'll writ some fluff soon and then start painting. I liked the haggard look he already had, so tried to keep that going. Enjoy

The air locks and hanger bay icons had turned black as the near vacuum that was the atmosphere of LVX-426-G Sucked the life from the Listening Station.
The general glow of the Environmental Panel was changing away from the comforting aqua that had been maintained for the best part of two hundred years, the outer chambers were red indicating that the atmosphere there was already violently hostile. He rushed to the emergency broadcast system and pulled the control panel from the wall, Balthazar knew that in doing so the first automated signals were already being sent ‘station compromised’… his mechanical fingers darted around the holo-field, but he didn’t really know how to update the message.

Outside the room the wailing and scratching stopped. Balthazar returned to the environmental control panel, The whole station was now exposed to the vacuum.
‘Is she dead?’

Balthazar was suddenly aware he could now see his breath in the air, the holo-screens began to power off one at a time. He unholstered his las-pistol and pointed it at the only entrance, still locked and sealed against the purge. His hairs stood on end, Balthazar felt the urge to turn around, but he was paralysed with fear and could only manage to turn his head. His eyes locked with hers, she was pulling herself straight from the shadows, he tried to react but the beast lashed out with a long bladed limb that skewered his pistol arm. Pulling on his flesh against his horror she pulled the rest of her body from the shadows and towered over him, she grabbed him with a hand that burst into flames and lifted him up to her face "BALTHAZAR" she hissed, her third arm pushed a blade into his abdomen, as she slowly pulled him closer still, Balthazar could feel her absorbing his life force, his pain and his fear sucked in through her unblinking eyes…

Nice work IM, he looks Creepy enough to be a loyal thone agent! The first photo is great; it looks like his staff is glowing!

I actually like the scarf that Yggs has put onto his inquisitor. It looks like she is trying to cover up what she has become.

In other exciting news... It looks like the Eavy metal masterclass is paying off! I'm really pleased with the progress so far, let us hope that the rest of the painting goes as well. Silver armour, or gold?

I think that 'Eavy Metal Masterclass is paying off indeed! I could tell as soon as I saw the red and white White could probably use some more deeper shadows, but otherwise looking awesome. If you can pull off the gold from the Masterclass...

Yeah, I do need deeper shadows on the cloak, especially inside. Thankfully that photo now gives me a great idea of where they should be and what colours to use.

I'm trying to work out what effect metal armour will have on the shadows inside the cloak though. Theoretically it should be reflecting some yellowish tones into the cloak's insides... but how much and where is still baffling me

Nice work.
I understand your issues of choosing bebteen gold or silver.
Why not do both - I have used a mix in the past based on a basecolour of Boltgun and Shining Gold mix. With some washes and higlights adding mithrill to the basecolour it gives a really nice aged and weathered finnish. If that is what you want obviously.
I used on on my Duchess Death centaur for instance.

Another option might be gold details and gloss black armour plates. Or just really toned down metal with Gold details.

I need to have a careful think about the armour colour. I started putting some gold on this morning and it's just not working for me as he's (currently) looking more Mechanicus than Ordo Malleus. Hopefully it should look more impressive (and suitable) as it gets highlighted up to actual gold. I just need to keep reminding myself of the Eavy Metal team mantra... "if it's looking right before you've finished... it's wrong."

I think you're underselling yourself there. Your style is brilliant and will suit the darker theme of your inquisitor perfectly.

Have to say endtransmisson, yours is leagues ahead of mine...I'm not even sure which model you used there, It's pretty Impressive. The colours are making my head hurt as well, it's hard to decide on these models...btw, how do you get that purple effect around the eyes?

THOUGHT OF THE DAY To fight a disease one must sometimes sacrifice a limb, to fight heresy one must sometimes sacrifice a soul.

It has become apparent that the Heretic who acted as an advisor to Lord Gastoigne in his recent coup is most certainly a follower of the diabolical gods. He has espoused heretical beliefs that tear at the very heart of the Imperial Cult. He claims that even the mighty Astartes have been lead astray by him. He has told a tale that 9 great chapters of the Astartes once left the Emperors holy service (he calls these chapters Legions obviously an uneducated fool who is not privy to their true name). He even claims to have been one of a lodge of warriors who lured a great champion of the Empire a man named Horus into Heresy. This is an obviously fictitious story and typical of the lies of Heretics. He is described as a mystical warrior armed with a fleshy fiery staff with a terrible eye staring out of it. He wears a fantastic suit of armour which also burns with unholy flame. This bares a visage of some unholy daemon. Many who have seen him swears that it watches the people around him. He also bears an arcane weapon which belches hellfire at the foe. An obvious mutant with his birdlike limbs and feet he has some bizarre power and authority upon the unholy warriors gathered around the Lord.

It is apparent master that this describes the unholy fiend known as Susarro of Davin. He has been sighted at least six hundred and sixty six times throughout the galaxy. Not one of the Segmentum has escaped this scourge. He appears to have an unholy skill at corrupting the aristocracy of a world and leading their worst faction into power. He then encourages a revolution against them and byzantine feuding amongst them. This leads to chaos. Swiftly he works his way into dominance among the factions and inspiring new feats of slaughter, lust, anarchy and decay. If severe sanctions are not applied quickly this has led to an incursion of diabolical forces. This threat must be eliminated by any means possible.

This model refuses to photograph well. I’m not particularly happy by the cartoony look . He’s based on the art in the Collected Visions of the Horus Heresy books on pages 54-57in particular Kemrich. I’m happy enough with the green tinted mutant skin but I feel it would have been improved greatly by using blue rather than cartoon fire. However I had a deadline to finish this odel by and I feel it looks ok. Hope you enjoy it.

Im not sure why, but my sorcerer hasnt arrived yet, so im unsure if ill be able to get this model done in time.

If its not at the store this weekend, i fear i may have to drop out of the competition, since i wont be able to complete the mini in time

I spent ages painting the centre of the bast, totally forgot that when the chap stands on the centre, he covers it up so slight ajustment to his position will have to do.

@Llamahead: I knew he looked familiar! You definitely caught the scary mood of Kenrich. Your paintjob looks pretty quick and I assume you know that, but I like the skin tone and the painting on the base somehow looks much better than the rest. You have the speed bonus.

Cheers Baiyuan base was a set of techniques I'm very comfortable with. I feel the rest cud have been improved by going back and highlighting the armour a bit more. I also feel blue for the flaming technique would have improved the effect well c'est la vie.

Well, I'm definitely running behind, having just got the model yesterday. I'm glad nobody stole my idea

She'll be a herald, and to show off her unholy might, she'll have a spear that is part of an avatar's sword. Of course, its metal and will likely knock her over. Oh, and if you want to combat potential fall over effect, there's always good use in gluing a metal disc underneath the base, if there's space. Always helps out if it's got weight to it.

By the way, still 0 progress on my front, even getting the blasted model. Maybe soon, though. Cool conversions going on, though.
