Heh, radical Inquisitor Tripp E. Tarker, and his oddball retinue, a Jokaero, a Tau and a ratling with a hormone problem

weety - hadn't thought of that, but I can borrow a de-humidifier anyway, just want to let the heaters do most of the work first, if I try running heater and de-humidifier I'd just trip the electrics again

neil - no way would I let some bunch of TV peeps loose in my place. Ain't gonna happen But it will spur me on to tile the galley floor which I've been thinking about for, ohh, a while now. Even got the tiles today, and hopefully I'll prep the floor before hitting the sack.

c0un7 - I thank you kind sir!

moonshine - well, I'm now quite hopeful a few of those might be ok, well, readable anyway. Even if they do all go it's a small fraction of my library (I learnt to love books at an early age and really hate parting with them), if the water had got into the lounge area it would have ruined a lot of books, some of which would be exremely hard/expensive to replace. The paperbacks were all ones which were actually piled on the floor in the first stage of an effort to actually part with them, in a vain attempt to create space for others, so I can kind of look at that as almost a blessing. But thanks for the sympathy man.

Zeke - Thanks. Have been looking for a use for that walker head for a long time, kept rejecting various walkers (Imp & chaos) until I started messing with the greenskins, and then it found a perfect home

books BOOKS thats heretical talk right there i say burn em all and lets return to a simpler and less enlightened age of ludites unlees they are the choose your own adventure ones where YOU are the HERO...

Your standing in a damp and sodden boat, Rare books and strange figs lay scattered around the floor. The dry heat of an old electrical fire is creating a mildly foist and hummid stench...
In your left hands is grasped small green figure , and a tiny paintbrush lays on a small table to your right. Do you... sit at the table trying to forget the mess around you, and attempt to paint the figure. Turn to page 32

Or do you throw the model down, stomp out into the winter air and look for the nearest pub. Turn to page 47

page 32 As you bend to sit down , your long limbs betray you , banging your elbow and knees on several corners. lose 1d6 stamina points The ork falls to the paper and old carpet strewn floor, where you accidently stand on it , whilst trying to pick it back up. turn to page 84

page 47 You throw the tiny figure down, and briskly stride on to the marina .They fresh winters air calms your mood and you feel relaxed and tranquil. Regain 2d6 Stamina points and turn to page 101

lol.

Pretty close actually, but I didn't stand on it, didn't need to as the carpet wasn't there to protect him Stage-diving from a high desk + hard surface + toy soldier = toy soldier pieces

Feeling fairly lousy last couple of days, heaters on full, de-humidifiers, then having to go out into snowy weather, all conspired to play havoc with throat and nose. My sinuses are fethed, and since last night I've gone partially deaf in one ear, so really didn't get much done yesterday. Did a little bit of painting to take a break from sorting the mess out, but really wanted to model rather than paint. Maybe later I'll see what I can build just utilising some of the parts on the desk, might be a giggle.

Waiting for the pva glue to dry on the floor so I can start putting tiles down - vinyl, self-adhesive tiles to tell the truth - I'm not doing any grouting After coating the floor in pva it was tempting to go get the sand and flock

Started going through the Tyranid codex last night too, looking to get my long-abused 'nids into some sort of order - boo. Marines lost their traits, guard lost thier doctrines and now I find the bugs lost their mutations, bah! Really don't know why I can't convince myself it's fine to make outdated armies as I don't play, oh well.

I'm not sure the galley/hall floor is a great place for a game 'Look out for the hot oil splash template, too late you've got a melted marine now.'

So did actually manage to finish the bionikopta, apart from sealing. As the sun is shining decided to take some outdoors shots, so pics aren't the best. Have to get a lightbox sometime.

That's better a touch of modelling stuff rather than just talk of a wet boat

Most of the galley got tiled last night, and bookcases moved back in. As I was cutting tiles I couldn't help but wonder what use I could find for the offcuts - sure there's some sort of terrain piece I could use 'em on

Thanks guys, I'm particularly proud of the way I placed the support strut so it was hidden from most angles, then took pics that showed it I may go back and put a bit more litter on the base, and it needs to get matted down, which I should have done before attaching the clear plastic, but hey-ho.

CK - thanks. I suspest there may be some element of psychosis created when you lose three limbs, get weapons put in their place then stuck to a dodgy rotor blade Shrines and ruins were the sort of thing I was thinking.

neil - cheers, if I'd got the angles right it might have looked a better movie If I'd finished it the day before I planned to take shots on the frozen marina, but it's mainly slush now.

weety - Ahh, if only it were MY lake, that'd be fantastic lol, I have the 2 seperate films on dvd, but still not got round to watching them, do plan to have one with one gun-leg though Thanks, as usual it's a mix of 'that worked' and 'that's a bit sloppy'. I'm pleased with the shoulder, but some sections of the arm are a bit messy. Just realised I was going to try a thin flesh wash on this guy too, forgot that, may do that later.

Arakasi - Thank you. I never fell you're 'taking issue', I appreciate the feedback you provide, along with everyone else's. Most ideas don't really come to life till the paint has hit them, especially with conversions, maybe even more so with orky conversions, and unless you have a little window into the modeller's mind it can be hard to see how it's going to work. Indeed, this is often a problem for the modeller themself I'm still unsure of how well it 'represents' a deff-kopta, mainly due to size, and i expect I will be until there's a few more bionikoptas aloft - some of the bulkier ideas haven't worked out yet. However I feel the larger size of some of the other 'kopta models will balance it out.
Hang on is this a trick, should I ignore the second instruction to ignore you?

moonshine - thanks, the idea of extra ammo was to represent them being big shootas, as fitting big shootas looked a tad awkward

GG - thanks dude. Yeah, ruins a possibility.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Having chipped up most of the paint-work with boltgun and mithril I then tried something different on the nose. It worked, so I re-did all the rest

Like the yellow and the two light greens, dark green turned out a bit meh, the blues are pretty dodgy, and I'm not convinced on the red.

and yes, it's a bit dusty in those shots.

The flame shaped plates were something Arakasi suggested for da Turbo 'Triffik, I liked the idea, but felt it didn't fit with my image of the TT, but they break up the side of this very nicely.

So had a bit of a mess around with the bits on my desk.

Cyber-Squig

Needs the tracks to keep up with Upzag's tracks Missing exhausts and details, as I couldn't find any tubes on my desk.

Concept for a servo-grot driven bike.

Obviously loads of bits still missing, and my choice of grots was a bit limited, so they'll be changed (and the rokkits are from the above buggy - could only find one rokkit on the desk)

oiler/ammo runt

I have another squat bike and a trike, these will become an ammo runt and the three oilers for Upzag. One bike will be the runt, the other and the trike will be oilers, get some sort of fixin' gubbins on the trike.

Nice chipping! Any particular technique? I wouldn't worry about that red, it looks good to me!

Also, that bionikopta is neat, I actually have a similar idea for an iron warrior raptor that I plan to do!

Thanks c0un7!

For the chipping I first painted on scratches and dots with a lighter colour - orange on the red, sunburst yellow on the nose, turquoise on the blue and bleached bone everywhere else. Then just carefully overpainted with chardonon granite, trying to keep the lighter colour only showing at the base/catching the light source. Kind of the reverse to my old method of using a dark colour then silver in the middle, that works okay but is a bit more stylised than this. Kepp meaning to try sponging granite followed by light sponging of silver, think that might be quite interesting. I found this didn't work well on the dark blue, even though I darkened the granite a bit, maybe I shouldn't have. Think the trick is to find the right highlight colour, possibly switch the granite in some situations. First tried it using a black micro-pen, worked reasonably well, but again I feel it's a bit more stylised.

I'll keep an eye out for your raptor.

edited for spelling.

Flame plate: I've made a noticeable impression at last!

Sage - no worries buddy, yours still needs those highlights - with all the hassle I didn't want to work on anyone else's stuff for fear of ruining it. I'd like to get it out over the weekend, if I fail in that I may keep it till new year just so it doesn't get mightily fethed by Santa's special mail sorters.

CK - Thanks! Yeah, still some washing to do, need a little more grime on there. As it's my first 'real' attempt at this method, not sure what else it's going to get, I was thinking maybe a touch of boltgun on a few corners, maybe in the middle of some of the larger scratches.

Arakasi - Glad you didn't resist too hard
I'm going to make an effort to keep to this style of weathering for the cyborks rather than using sponge, which could be an issue as I've just realised I used sponges on the speeder/senty 'kopta.
Damn, is that really the first time I've actually made use of your comments?
Well, it wasn't the whole thing, but my original idea had a bit of 'cute' thrown in. Well, you know, cute as in little orky death-terror nom-nom cute. Wasn't deliberate but I'll happily take it
Rokkits definitely - when I can access more of my bits I'll be looking for a slightly smal- actually, no I won't. Just realised that was a complete brain-fart - it's a bike, bikes have dakka not swoosh-boom. Sigh. I'm fairly happy with the engine for now, the support structure will be different (probably) and there may be a bit added here and there to the frame. I was thinking of it being more of a grot built go-cart or similar that they'd decided to strap a big ol' rokkit to so they could join in the big-boyz fun.
Fair enough, not a lot to see there at present I'll grant you Although a fair bit of filing was involved to get that body to fit.

Yggs - Cheers, but let's be honest, there's not been many mini's in the last few pages, more me whinging about being damp The squig gets another vote for cute - honestly I was only thinking there was a tiny bit of cute in there. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the chips overall - just need to figure out how to do it on the darker colours.

neil - Thanks guy. He's not as small as I wanted, the tracks and the join turned out slighly bigger, and slight makes a difference at this scale. If another one gets tracks I'll scratch-build them. The clean-up is at 'full-speed standing still' at the moment. Not a lot I can do for now untill things have dried out, which at this time of year is going to be a SLOW process. Had a leak in the bathroom a couple of years ago, that took a couple of weeks to dry in May/June time, and wasn't as wet.

insaneume - thanks, glad you got some good procrastination time back

Scarper - cheers, and loot away. Slowly, slowly she dries, think she's been taking note of my painting pace.

c0un7 - it's pretty simple, you just need to watch for hand-cramp if you're idiotic enough to try and do a reasonable sized area in one sitting That might just be me trying too hard to keep the brush steady all that time though (there's a good reason to try speeding up).

I am just putting the snow on your model's base, and then maybe will look it over for any other highlights or such it may need

and as always your work here is great, and I must ask, since i seem to be the one who always asks...do you have any group shots of your painted progress and/or unpainted progress. its always nice to see the army as a whole so a sense of how far you've gotten since page 1 is easy to see

I've got your White Plains address I know it took about 2 weeks for Porkuslime to get his when I sent it, so if I get it out over the weekend....damn, that still won't hit you till the new year, oh that's pants. Guess I'm going to have to work on improving my speed before adding more trades o my list.

Umm, there was a group shot a while back, it's probably not that different tbh - oh good gorka, just realised that's on page one See that's why no more group shots, I don't want peeps to realise how far I have(not) got since page 1

See the only units that are finished are the dread, the bionikopta and the jet-bike kopta (and that's still not based). Not even a full unit of grots finished, sheesh. Umm, well maybe if I throw the orderly and the oilers in there there'll be 10, no herder though. But seeing as how modelling is a bit constrained at the moment, I should really get on with some painting - probably about time to actually finish that first lot of boyz.

Tell you what, I'll take your request under consideration
