How good are they in a blood angels army. Red the fluff, realize they are DEFNITELY into jump packs just wondering the strategic value of them =D

If there were a way to get them as troops for the BA they would be pretty solid, all the advantages of a vanilla marine bike list with FNP and FC added in. But the BA Captain does not have the Mounted Assault special rule, so no troop bikers.

That said, while you may not be able to make a list that uses them exclusively, a squad added into a normal BA list could add an advanced assault element to run down targets that are weak in CC. A sanguinary priest would give them FC and FNP and a powerfist on sergeant would make the unit able to close in and strike soft targets while taking a little fire.

I was reading my codex and it said because of the codex astartes they keep a SMALL biker force on hand but they're peculiar for giving up their jet packs. I just didn't know they couldn't take them either :/

I once saw a man who had bikers in a JP list to give them a 4+ coversave. (Just speed the bikes for a 3+ save.)

^ Pretty nifty!

That said, in mech they compete with Baals and Land Speeders, in DoA they compete with Vanguards. Though starting out a BA force as well, I don't see myself purchasing Bikers any time soon.

I just hate land speeders is my problem. Think they're the dumbest LOOKING thing ever imo XD
I was just wondering if they could even get in the army and what fats attack would do for them and a weapon load out XD

Baal predators are far and away the best fast attack choice IMO... but if I wasn't filling the slots up with 3x Baal Predators, I'd probably take a squadron or two of attack bikes. Very good for the cost, they can absorb a lot of fire when they turbo boost, and they aren't something you can ignore... 3x multimelta shots into your face will HURT.

I tried pretty much every permutation of bikers imaginable in codex marine lists, and they never really made up their cost. They lose to pretty much anything in hand to hand (standard assault marines beat em), and they aren't durable enough to justify their cost. Again, attack bikes are different, but they are also used differently, and much cheaper.

If you REALLY want to use them in a BA list, they could be cool if you attached a sanguinary priest on a bike... they could hang back behind your assault squads, and because they can turbo boost, it will ensure you have FNP + FC on the squads that REALLY need it. It would also be a very survivable unit with FNP.

Look for lists that seem to be called 'blood rodeo.'

Bikers can give cover saves and covering fire, both are nice things.
The usual double plasma, fist and MM arrangement then a priest on a bike with them.
Having a faster priest with a squad which likes to stay out of cc is a good thing.

Thought about ONE with a melta on it and the priest just to MAYBE help the DC up in the front survive.

The army build is called a Blood Rodeo. The basic idea is to use the FNP/FC bubble to make the bike and ASM better in combat. With a Sanguinary Priest with jump pack and a Librarian (with Shield of Sanguinius) on bike. The ASM use the bikes as mobile cover. Once the bikes are charged or charge the ASM jump over the combat leaving the SP behind the bikes and assault from the rear. Both units should be in the FNP/FC bubble and the priest will be safe from combat.

BA biker armies work quite different then codex bikers. BA seek out close combat and the codex ones avoid it. Both are quite fun and challenging to play.

The Librarians you will need to convert. And the bike with side car is called an attack bike. Each bike unit can have one added or they can be a unit themselves.

Do I only need 2 of those then? Cause I can get the 18 bikes and two attack bikes. He doesn't specify very well =/

Well do you want to run the attack bikes in their own squadron or do you want them to be added on to bike squads. The advantage to running them with a bike squad is that they are 2 wound models so you can soak up a wound with them instead of losing a model. I personally have never ran them as a separate squad so I have no clue towards the draw backs. Though you can run squadrons from 1-3 bikes at the same cost per bike as you can add to a bike squad. I personally believe they would do better with a bike squad to provide extra shooting capabilities as well as adding in 2 attacks if you happen to get into close combat.(which a BA bike squad is gonna want to do) Alot of people do not give bikes in CC the credit they deserve. They have a T5 which makes anything S5 wound on a 5+. You will take considerably less wounds then other marines in CC. Also with the advantage of Furious Charge that BA bikers will get they strike at I5 and will wound on a 3+ due to the added strength. Add in this added wound potential to the fact that they can fire rapid fire bolters and still charge into assault, there is a good possibility to wipe out squads quickly.

I was thinking bike squads but I don't really know what that consists of tbh and I only know I need PROBABLY 4 attack bikes maybe? I also think I could buy bitz and make two of the bikes ito attack bikes

Bike squads consist of atleast 3 bikes. 1 sergeant and 2 basic guys. they can grow up to 8 bikes and an attack bike. Not sure if BA codex is different but 2 biker can replace bolt pistols with either melta, plasma or flamer. Sergeant can take a large variety of things and the attack bike can be either a heavy bolter or multi-melta.

Well, I went to the link crimson showed us and the guy says he has 20 bikes but I only count 18 in his math...and I know I need some bikes with the side cars but I don't know how many and he has a build up there I think would work amazingly. I just don't know what the build really consists of unit choice wise.

he's got 10 plain bikes, 4 bikes with melta, 2 power fist sergeant bikers, then 2 attack bikes and 2 librarians on bikes. It is notable to say that attack bikes count as 2 models for the purpose if combat squading them. but non the less thats the break down hes got going

So I just buy 18 normal bikes and then the 2 attack bikes of course the conversion on the librarians then?

Yeap. That's all he is running. You will also need the bits for the melta and powerfist of course if your wanting to do what he's done there

Well, I found the bikes NoS on a website and there's 18 of them total and I figured I could just buy 2 more attck bikes I have the priests ordered and I've hade the assault marines so this is just about getting the bikes together. I love the idea of the asm jumping over the bikes XD sounds like so much fun. =D and of course the termies =D

Here is Kirby's list and a picture of Turkson's army using this list. Each bike squad has ten guys with nine bikes in each. His Attack bikes are converted to look like dune buggies. Add in the two Libbys and you get 20 bikes. Hope this helps you.

I just didn't know how the bikes were set into squads I guess the codex says something like they have to have an attack bike with them or something weird (I need to reread that) but other than that It sounds like I just need to get 3 sets of the 6 and the termies and I have this ready to go just a question I play 2150 games would you add more marines or another couple of bikes to get the extra points in there?

You dont have to have the attack bikes. It is an option, a 40 pt upgrade (C:SM) you can also run the attack bikes separately in 1-3 bike squads but it will take up a separate Fast attack slot. well if you plan on filling in 140 pts I would bring a landspeeder typhoon that's 90 pts. Bring a second speeder w/ a multi-melta thats another 60 pts and you will gain some decent anti horde/ tank. Be wary though the speeders are fragile with 10 armour all around

Is a tank advisable at all? Or could I put in some other type of infantry? Something closer to DC?

I might need some other type of scoring units...hmm not sure...gonna have to look a little harder at this. I just hate the look of speeders XD

Troops! Troops! Troops! and more Troops! When you're done, slather on some more troops w/ a dash of Troops. You have 6 slots for a reason... DC and DC dreads aren't scoring troops.

EDIT: What point total were you looking to play at?

if you hate the look of speeders get creative and mod them into something you like. No point in completely ignoring them. they are very effective
