God's do you have some gold here monkeytrolla Flesh wall is revoltingly awesome. That prince has a sexy sexy butt (and paint job) and the beastman conversion is simply perfect. You must follow up with a unit of some kind, even an officer if you can stretch it. You can get away with a command squad of 3 guys if you take a heavy weapon team and only model one on the large base. Alongside whatever you come up with, or the FW model, as an officer .. ugh, so perfect ..

shaso - Cheers dude, not as smooth as I wanted, but I'm happy enough considering how long it's been since I tried any real painting
Doc - Thanks! I mentioned somewhere that I did consider walkers for the vats. I envisaged them wandering up to the deployment zone, then crouching down to expel the flesh. But although my little head-movie looked cool, I couldn't get it right in a static pose. I'll put it down to these being old heretek pieces that were designed by a whole other group of magi to my walker and serpent obsessed lot
genom - Cheers Of course he has a sexy butt....he is a Slaaneshi prince after all The beastman will get a unit at some point, but need to come up with them first, my current guys are either too barbaric for him, or my ratkin, which I think will get a rat leader. Of course there's always a chance that I'll build two more then decide I want them as a unit, with a new sarge
So found an old bitspudlo rhino in my pile, and with everything else I obviously decided to have a crack at it.
Seemed to be missing a few bits, and not the best fit, but onwards....
Roof was one bit missing. Quick template from card, transferred to 1mm plasticard. The space looked about 3mms thick, so two templates, and then some spars from offcuts. Now you may be asking why double thick roof, and not double thick spars?
Because I didn't think of it till I had done the cutting
Spare and front glued to one side panel so I can adjust for best fit of second side panel.
And then it got to here.
I was thinking the chunky tracks would look good really rusted, so the next thought was to make it Nurgly...
And that became a Nurgle predator. Still working on sponson weapons, and trying to find a good turret for the twin-linked corrosion cannon.
And as I was contaminating things, I finished off the Nurgle battle servitor .
Not the nearest work on either, but I have been on nights this week, and currently been awake for 29 hours, so I'll accept it (until I wake up tomorrow and re-look at them....)I
Thanks for stoppin' by.....

I really like the look of the servitor but it feels a bit skinny around the waist. Weirdly, I don't know if it's because the legs are quite far apart?

Wow ! That is a cool tank, the tracks and track will should look great once rusted.
Excellent battle servitor too. Skinny indeed around the waist, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. When I first saw it, I thought "Demon plague scarecrow"

graven - It definitely is skinny in the waist area - the base for the legs was one of the Forge World mechanicus servitors, which all have skinny waists, and the body I used is a bit bigger than those, so emphasises the waist. It's fine with me as it throws proportions off, which I do like in my chaos - although to be fair that's a look probably better suited to my Slaaneshi guys. I did briefly consider that the 'ammo' tanks might go on the waist, but that looked terrible to be honest.
Kernel - Thanks! There will be rust. Demon Plague scarecrow hey? There's some interesting ideas that could riff off of that.........
Lt - Cheers! I suspect I'll find the roof sometime, and then have to come up with a use for that....
Dr H - Thanks bud! A brief diversion from one patron to another...good for the soul or something
So received a supply drop from graven the other day with a few Nurgly flavoured bits. One thing I like to do sometimes with packages like that is see what I can do using just the contents....so I figured why not?
Now, as I have little in the way of Nurglitch amongst my bits I could already start seeing pieces I'd want to use for my little corrupted force, which cut down on what I could play with.
This is what I chose to work with.
And this is how they looked after chopping. Cleared the standard pole of the partial standard, thinned it a bit, then got it nice and raggedy. Removed the skull and a bit of chain from the other standard, kept the forked part for potential use as a claw if I didn't like how the other arms worked out. Chopped off the guy's head and both lower arms. Cut the skelly arm in half, and split the spear (the spear head got removed just after this shot), and also performed surgery on the ork arm and choppa. Finally, removed the weight from the flail.
They all went back together a bit like this:
A grave(n) walker, one of Papa's favoured, risen again to spread the word (and a nasty touch of flu too). Did consider removing one leg and re-sculpting a green-stuff tentacle, but although I allow myself GS, that seemed too much.
I also found a suitable 'turret' for the predator:
Plus a bit more corruption. Still need to add rivets to those panels, and figure out the sponson weapons before deciding if it needs more rotting fleshy touches of chaos.
And speaking of flesh, a touch more work on the flesh vats:
Going with the treads against the side, but with a bit of a cover.
And the start of the Master-Vat. Possibly on a version of the previous two, but with bigger tracks.....possibly something else. And a faint possibility it might not make it there and become something else entirely.....it looks quite good on a tank body for instance....
......
Oh, yeah.......also got some colour on the grave(n) walker....
Not quite finished, but mostly there. Think I might re-do the flag.
Thanks for stopping by.....help yourself to biscuits on the way out....it's fine, they're supposed to be that colour......

Well done on the grave(n) walker - a testament to your abilities. I wonder if that would make a good competition - have these bits, see what everyone can come up with. We couldn’t have you enter of course, maybe judge. No issues with the servitor waist, but that turret base looks a bit anaemic for the guns on top...

Arakasi - I like the sound of it, but hard to ensure everyone has the same bits to start with It was one of my favourite parts of the DCM secret santa, seeing what I could make out of the package
I do agree with the turret base. All the others I tried were too big, seemed to overpower the actual vehicle, so in the end I went small, hoping it would be low enough to not be too distracting. That obviously failed I may look at spreading out the contagion further across the top, see if that helps. I'll wait till after I decide on the sponson weapons anyway.
graven - he's a lovely fellow when you get to know him. Hard to understand without his lower jaw, but he manages to get his point across.
Small progress on the flesh-vats
Interestingly, I did these slightly different to my previous methods. I have previously glued the end of the strip down with pva, then pinned it, to hold it in place and create rivets, then covered it all in pva.
This tme I glued and covered in pva first then pinned.
And this time:
May be something other than the order I did these in, but not seen that compression around the pins before...
And attaching them to the vats, with attachment method shown.
Also, finished the grave(n) walker....

graven - Aww, thanks bud.
So the vats are coming together now.
Details added, including the all-important rivets.
And base colours down. Originally was thinking it would all be metallics, but went for the red as I picked up brushes....
Still deciding on just how weathered they'll end up.
And as I'm trying out this Nurgle lark, thought I'd play with another pox-walker based off the same figure.
And a start on 'skin' tones.
Enjoying these little builds, think I'll have to dig out my Sedition Wars box ....might be fun to see how many variants I can get out of this guy.

Lt - good to know
graven - I love having random crap to play with, looking forward to starting some marines with some of it.
Doc - Thank you. Good point
So quick update on the vats.
Need to do the control panels and a few more drips/stains.....but calling them done otherwise.
Don't know why but didn't enjoy painting these after base coat. Felt like a chore, and didn't like the results. Obviously a few years off has not improved my techniques Heavy sponge of greys and browns, then silver over the red - which looked terrible, so pulled it back with a sponge of the red, but it's not what I was after at all. By the time I got to the verdigris I was really not happy, and it shows. Normally that's my cue to shelve it for a while, but I did want to get these done to add to the walls.
Maybe I'll come back and redo them at some future point - use it to practice my old weathering techniques possibly.
I did however go and pull out my Sedition Wars box.....there are several spaces where I pulled bits out for Slaaneshi styled shenanigans, but now looking for Nurgle naughty nick-nacks I pulled a few more out.
(Edit - just noticed there's still no rivet hole for the missing rivet....better make sure I pick that up)
Started with a couple more based on the guys that graven sent across.
(So there are Doc....So there are )
These guys on the other hand, love painting....neighbour a little as I finished the red patches across the three newbies, but still.
I think I have three more.....which is nice
So final touches to vats, then hopefully a nice evening so I can take photos outside.
Then I have some cyber monsters, some Inq, and some plague marines to look at....
Thanks for stopping by, aromatic spire clusters are available in the gift shop......

I think what happened with your different method causing the ‘squeezing’ was the PVA hardening the card up, it could probably be avoided by using a thin pin vice drillbit to make pilot holes for the pins. Nice technique! It’s giving me ideas...

Good job on the vats and muties.
Sometimes the odd bit can seem like a chore. Putting it to one side can help, but that can lead to the shelf/cupboard/basement* of shame growing if you don't come back to it.
*I appreciate that some of us around here may not be in the right place for a basement to be a thing.
This is where deadlines can be good to make you push through and finish something; gives a sense of accomplishment that can feedback into motivation.
And an artwork is never truly "finished".There's always something more that can be done, there's only ever a time to stop... for now.

snrub - Cheers bud! The fans are vents from a big bag of them I have.....I think they were from Antenociti's Workshop, I have a vague feeling that they were part of a small Kickstarter he did fort errain some years ago - but could be wrong there. I don't have any fans that small unfortunately, if I did they'd all get used fairly rapidly (by my standard ).
lindsay - I think it was a mix of that and the fact that the strips were now glued to the ball, so as one moved everything moved. I did actually drill holes this time as I was using plasticard - just because I was using strips for other detail work, otherwise I would have probably gone for actual card, I've used both previously. The effect isn't that noticeable once painted, probably because they're small balls, but to be honest it's useful to know that effect comes from gluing first - I can see that being something I might want to try deliberately whenever I get back to my cyborks.....
Doc - Thanks!
Indeed, if this hadn't been for the LOER then they may well have ended up buried under a pile of sprue for years to come
So finished pics of the walls.... not the greatest pics as after the first session I realised I really needed to pull out my light box for outdoor shoots, but next day was looking too much like rain to do anything....ah well.
And shots of all the individual wall sections (spoilered for lengthy repetitive reasons )
And a quick scale shot:
Overall reasonably happy with it. The actual walls I do like, just not overly keen on the flesh-vats. The builds were ok, but as mentioned earlier, I found painting a chore for one of those odd reasons that occur, and I am well aware that they are nowhere near the standard I can get to - particularly in relation to the weathering. And I can see some egregious errors such as the still undrilled hole where a rivet is supposed to be missing....
But.....I did complete both parts in time, so happy with that at least
So, back to building ....
First up the Inquistion comes knocking again:
Originally was going with a pistol, but then decided that all the head wiring is a psi-amplifier, so just a staff to help channel and direct that power. Not sure yet if she's an actual inquisitor or an acolyte, that'll decide on what extra decoration she gets...symbols, scrolls, seals etc
And on to the beastmen:
Yes, still needs clean-up
A companion for the earlier beastman sarge....this time with bionic legs - which still need work on the hooves. The pistol arm isn't attached yet, needs to be adjusted a bit, want that at more of a at-rest position, hanging more straight down to complement the chainsword resting on the shoulder. Also still needs pouches and gear distributed around the waist, a backpack, and horns - possibly culing up and forward.
Another cyborg beastman, this time with potential to be corrupted by Nurgle. And as should be obvious from the blu- tac, that arm is not set in stone yet, possibly getting the other one chopped too - more likely if he does indeed get all poxy....
And on the subject of Nurgle:
Why should Slaanesh get all the three legged goodies?
Still needs some detailing on the 'waist' area, and potentially gets a slight lift to the torso.
And just to keep those marines company on those long lonely nights crossing the warp:
A little brother to the bloat drones. I'm thinking the abdomen may get a re-working, bulking it up, so the proportions aren't as sensible as they are here (the wire currently goes into the abdomen if you're struggling to see which way is which....that's a tongue coming out of the maw on the other end
And on the subject of drone type thingummies:
Was going to have a relatively smooth underside.....now I'm thinking something like this, a mass of small arms, blades, saws etc, so that it swoops down and chops up it's victims....
Well, think that's it for now.
As always, thanks for stopping by...

Snrub - "ahhhh, who's a cute little pox carrying cyber-maggot? You are...yes you are.... "
The beastman's sword is from FW, one of the Orlock weapon packs. I wish I'd had more of a look, noticed on your blog that you grabbed some renegade and ogryns on last chance recentlty, could have done with a few more.
The knight stuff is great, but I was a bit disappointed that there's just one sprue, crammed though it is.
graven - good that you do as gribbly nonsense is kind of my shtick
Cam - much appreciated amigo, and likewise
So, termie-three-legs (names have been changed to protect the corrupt) is detailed and awaiting the touch of primer.
And baby bloat drone is also done
I thought about some arms or weapons other than the 'stinger' but decided against it. Once painted I'll probably add some ichor dripping from the sting.
Also messing around with ideas for big brothers to little bloaty...
The mouth works a little better if the head piece is turned, but it looks too squat that way, and it's easier to put a weapon under there than on the sides.
Need to find the next size down for arms if I keep this style. Also need more nurgle suitable heads.....hello ebay.
And that will do for today, thanks for stopping in.

Arakasi - Left it for now as I wasn't entirely sure how the top will pan out. If I go for my original idea of just a smooth, fleshy underside, the the armour will stay relatively clean - but if, as I suspect, I go for the choppy, cutty, slashy, grabby underside then the top will get a bit more gribbly. I was actually meant to start sculpting that underside today - probably no surprise that I got sidetracked.
So started putting some colour down on the little drone...
Will keep the fleshy part pretty pallid, but will give it some blue wash/glaze to keep it corrupted, green won't work so well with the green base to the armour. Need to shade the bloody parts, then add some yellow in somewhere. Then shade the metallics, and corrode them some, and decide on colour for the cabling...thinking a dark shade of red at present, but we'll see.
Switched around some parts on the bigger drones....
Not great angles, but I have yet to decide how he's held up, so just awkwardly perched on some wire for these shots. Did have some 'arms' from the plague drones, but decided that just wasn't working. Decided the squatter version was okay, as I preferred the mouth this way. And obviously switched out the turbines for wings.
But those turbines got some milliput and headed over to another guy.....
Milliput on the body is just the basic shape, that'll be getting covered and textured, the turbines are about half done, need some texture on the bottom halves, and a bit of interior work. There will be plenty of tentacles too...
And I couldn't resist having a play with this guy too.....
Was trying to avoid adding 'tentacles' in the form of some kind of power scourge....but I think I'm going to head that way over the chainfist...
And in other news:
After some thought, and finding my initial ideas had been covered during my years in the wilderness, I have set down the latest round of the League of Extraordinary Riveteers terrain contest.....come one, come all, come make a piece, whether big or small.
Please do head over and have a crack at it, these are always fun - and hey, you'll get some terrain out of it at the very least

Wow, amazing stuff! Those barricades and the tracked sludge tanks are just plain brilliant, disgusting, very useful and even logical all rolled into one. If I ever really rock the nurgle, I'm certainly going to do a green version. I love the pokiball with legs too.
