I think this makes the decision for me to start a DA army. Chaos marines are a plus because I know a dude that would buy them to start 40k.

Seriously though, as a fully formed adult who, by dint of the fact he participates in a hobby that requires substantial focus and concentration in a number of its aspects, has a reasonable attention span, how poorly thought out does a teaser trailer for a product I'm interested in have to be that I can't give it more attention than your average tv advert?

You can totally see why they don't though, it literally would lose them money. The level of excitement over these models, they want that to peak at the exact moment at which you are physically able to hand over your cash, either to pre-order or buy from the stores.

If these pictures came out a month ago, with the tag line "Yours to own from September 1st 2012!!" the level of excitement when the pictures came out would be amazing... however, by the time a month had passed and the time actually came around to then hand over cash, a few people would have gotten over their original hysteria and calmed down and realised that they would in fact rather eat real food and pay their bills than by plastic men, and so they'd not buy the set, or they'd tame down their initial gut instinct to buy three boxes and only buy one.

GW are relying on your irrational over-excitement to make you buy more stuff than you can really afford, so they need you to be ridiculously excited at exactly the time when things go on sale. Keeping everything a massive secret does that for them far better than good quality pre-release pictures do.

You disagree that a gap between the first full and good quality pictures of what was to be released and the actual date of release would reduce the number of impulse sales on the opening weekend??

Took the photo and lightened it up a bit in Photoshop and it looks like he is painted black with very hot white highlights, like he is wearing shiny leather clothing. Pic below.

Really? Are you serious, or is my sarcasm meter just broken? I think he explained it rather precisely, but I'll give it a shot too.

You quoted almost three dozen people (yourself included) who, at the moment of first sight, wanted to drop the ~$100 without further question. If the first time you had seen those pics was right next to the "Pre-Order" button on the GW website, GW would have their three grand in pocket instantly. Instead, the pre-order doesn't go up until next Saturday, but you've seen the pics now.

If even one of those people changes his mind between now and Saturday, then GW has lost money. That means "showing things at the last minute" makes more money than "showing things early". When you're a corporation, and you find out that X makes more money, then that is what you are supposed to do.

They have confirmed this with their own sales figures. They printed an official statement of exactly that in their annual financial report, which means unless you believe they have committed the actual crime of defrauding investors (as opposed to merely figuratively robbing us blind), then you have to accept it as fact. You don't have to like it - I'm sure none of us do. But, unfortunately, they are right on this one.

So, I'm sorry, but... you're wrong.

The 6 chosen have bolters and lightning claw dude and power weapon guy as previously mentioned by other sources. They look right out of the designs for the space marine video game. Not a lot of spikes but a ton of detail on the armor.

The set comprises of:
Chaos (no god specific iconography thus far on models but it does reek of khorne)
-chaos lord
-6 chosen
-18 cultists
- hell brute

Dark angels
-company master
-chaplain
-librarian
-10 man full plasma option tac squad
-5 man terminator squad
-3 bikers

I also got to see the terminators. The captain has wings coming out of the top of his armor.

But between then and now I could have spent my money on several other things - which would also lose GW money.
