I can suggest aerial designs that would work in real life but don't look like a satellite dish if you want something more [strikethrough]orky[\strikethrough] groty.

Although going to the extent of having a plausible radar system designed might be taking modelling details a bit too far ..

monkeytroll: Thanks . And yes, bipod-grot is cool, I really like that model! As for the battlewagon: lovely sight, isn't it?

grotsrus: a SAG will be built eventually, but it didn't make it in any army lists I've built so far, so I don't know when I'll get started on that one. And it won't have snotties being sucked through - it's one of the few decent uses the grots have for orks

MajorTom11: Thanks! September has been way too busy (and part of October as well), so I hope to be getting back on track now . Glad you like'em!

Atre: I partly agree about taking it too far, however, I like the idea - I'll see if I get around to adding it, but I think some kind of radar dish just might make it -maybe attached to the periscope

Arakasi: If I can convince my boss, maybe your boss can join you? Then they can do bossy stuff (shopping would be a safe bet ) while we have a few games . Belgium is a very nice country to visit .

Oh, and here's something people have been waiting for for a very long time: paint on a burnagrot!

Only the orange done so far, but it should give you guys an idea .

Ah no, I like the idea - I was just suggesting that having me design a valid radar aerial that looks more orky but WOULD work in real life might be a bit over the top .

Y'see, I'm still a fan of the second edition Battlewagon rules - you can pile on as many Orks as you can fit, but any that fall off as you're moving it take the appropriate damage for falling from a moving vehicle.....

Yup, I'm a physicist by training; EM-radiators and all that are part of the toolkit.

Although I think I might be overselling this a bit, It'll always bear some resemblance to a radar dish or a TV aerial unless you get quite complicated

Well if your sending ork through it you should have a sag team the grot holding it and a grot butcher slicing the ork up because a hole ork will not fit in the funnel.YAY FOR GORE!

I huge tube on killa kan. Good idea but a little grot butcher pulling a little cart full of chopped up ork would look much more evil. More revenge for the grotties.

Atre: sounds interesting, I'll drop you a PM when I start on my stompa

grotsrus: it's more fun if they're conscious while going through the warp

The Good Green: entertaining idea, isn't it?

moonshine: I'll just place my warp tunnel entry on a different bit of the SAG. I'm hesitating between a wartrakk bit as abase, making a mini-tank, or making another exo-suit, although bigger then for the burnagrots.

grotsrus: that would be way too easy

Now, some more BW pics, WIP. I've done most of the painting bar some small details, mainly on the turrets, but I couldn't resist starting on some weathering. I'll be adding some more details to the deffrolla, so it's not included yet.

Fist off: a fly-around:

Please keep in mind that the weathering is still WIP!

And the classical shots with megagrotz:

Yes, I need to weather that dozerblade a lot more...

Let me know hat you think, and if you see any glaring mistakes now's a good time to point them out!

Really looking great Khaine! Love the graffiti and slogans on the wagon. Weathering looks like it's coming along nicely too.

Orangs grotz.... sounds like some kind of soda or fancy bar drink.

Looking good, CK.

I'd like to tweak the SAG suggestion - while I'm not familiar with the current SAG fluff, the original had a Runtherd/Mekboy combo firing bases of Snotlings through it.

Turnabout being fair play, have a SAG operated by Snotlings, with a group of them carrying an Ork as ammunition (think the Nac Mac Feegle, if you've read the Discword books).

MajorTom11: Guess I'll have to mess around with my modelling schedule . If it's not up Friday, you'll have to be patient for a bit since I'm away for the weekend!

Commissar Agro: Thanks! The combination of paint and weathering powders is really helping out, it's something I'll be exploring some more methinks.

Dysartes: Interesting idea, and I've read Discworld so the Nac Mac Feegle are familiar to me . For the SAG I was considering a mechanical loading arm, but snotlings are definitely an option. Thanks for the suggestion!

yes but the grot bucther would most likely be able to keep them conscious even though there in pices. Extra pain. also wouldent it stike fear into ork players to see a cart stuffed full and oozing with there kin i think it would who agrees.

Hey!

Been reading this thread for ages as a non-dakkaite, but now I've joined thought I'd finally comment on all your brilliant work! In short, I LOVE this army. It's full of awesome ideas, all of which have translated into wonderful models. You have such a characterful army, which I love.

And on a side note, I'd like to thank you. I haven't played 40k in years, but recently, I was wanting to get back into it. It was seeing your army that gave me the idea and the impetus to get back into the hobby, and to form my own squeaky WAAAAGH!. So really, thank you. I've loved watching your progress, and I look forward to seeing what's to come.

Stay well.

Edward.

P.S. All this talk of an ork-based SAG... There's a very real danger I may "borrow" that idea myself. Hope that's ok.

With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves

The battlewagon looks great, but I can't look at it without thinking there needs to be a battlewagon with troop area set up like the hopper on a dump truck. That way the driver could help the cowardly grots "volunteer" to fight by dumping them out!

grotsrus: maybe, but it doesn't fit the mental image I have (see below)

SovereignStudios: Wow, quite the compliment . I'm glad you find it a characterful army, since that's what I was going for in the first place. Welcome to the boards and I'm glad you decided to get back into the hobby! I think most of us have the occasional hiatus, with me it's switching between systems that keeps me fresh. As for what's to come: here's a very WIP shokk attak gun, so get ready for some lootin'!

Artsoldier35: yep, lootin' it is!

Heffling: Thank you! These grots aren't cowards btw, they're revolutionaries! Not to mention the BW is carrying megagrots or burnagrots, which tend to be a bit braver

Now, two very WIP pics of the shokk attak gun, to see how you guys feel about it. It's based on a wartrakk (which would be a great start for a grot tank, if I ever decided to build a few), and the orks will be tossed in by the loading arm which still needs ot be attached. I also need an additional KMB to complete the spinny bits . The bit where the ork will be tosse din will have warp energy coming out, probably done by melting some green plastic.

Piccies:

Let me know what you think, but keep in mind it's VERY WIP!

Looks interesting CK

Where exactly will the orks be getting tossed? into the body of the trakk, or is that a holding area and they'll be thrown into the back of the actual gun?
