@kittykavekommando: Thanks muchly. Hope to do a Crassus in the future even though getting one for myself is rather unlikely. But in case you got one lying around and want it painted..

@Rogue Wolves: Oh right, I guess I should put that into a tutorial soon I suppose. It's that time of the year anyway so expect something on the gore soon!

@Vitruvian XVII: Oh yeah, they're really nice looking but can be quite nasty to assemble. Didn't have the honor myself because at the moment I'm basically painting the Space Marines collection of someone who likes assembling and converting but doesn't really enjoy painting but I heard so from several sources. It's worth though.

Having taken a short break from 40k stuff on Sunday, I thought I'd deliver you with a picture of some washes plus a few random objects obstructing the sight:

@nerdfest09: Cheers. I'm currently trying to think of what I'll do for this year's christmas/new year's painting tutorial. So far I got: skin, gore, probably no Space Marine model. Oh, and I'm afraid it's got to be a GW model again due to thematic restraints on Tale of Painters.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks!

@GiraffeX: Surprisingly enough I'm not all that much into pirates and the only pirater system I'm somewhat familiar with is Freebooter's fate (and Freebooter minis... vary quite a bit in quality sometimes) so it's not really likely that I'll paint pirates soon, at least not "privately". There's this other pirates system I read about a few months ago (Gav Thorpe may be involved in that. Or wrote a review. I really can't remember :p ). Oh, but there are these very cool new Ogre Pirate models by Titan Forge. These look like a lot of fun. Hmm... that actually sounds like an interesting idea for that painting tutorial...

@rummymouth: Well, alright I'll keep on doing that then.

@Rogue Wolves: Yar. Got the thing shortly after it was released because it's such an awesome concept and execution. Really brings back memories. :p

Hey, just a quick one before the objective marker: My Infinity stuff was delivered yesterday. Holding back on the Remotes for now, I started by basing and assembling Carlota Kowalsky and her robot cat Zondbot Moriarty:

She's a Tomcat officer and engineer, the cat's main purpose (unless I missed something) is mainly to act as an assistant field engineer. Carlota can sit in cover and repair things through Moritarty i.e. send the bot and roll repair checks as if she was there herself. Aside from all of that, she's very capable of defending herself if the situation requires it.

For eingineering stuff, there were some other options as well, most prominently Clockmakers, who actually are better at repairing stuff, but are very squishy. I decided to get Kowalsky instead as I like Tomcats and how backgroundwise they're made out to be such popular hero-like figures to the Nomads population while in game terms, they are far from being "the most impressive thing you can get". They're more like very much souped up light infantry with a somewhat downplayed design and I feel more happy with more of a generalist who'll fight back (and is able to deep-strike by the way :shifty: ). Apart from that: It's a special character, the name is fun and the model pretty. You may argue that her face looks somewhat weird but it's alright. Not sure but I suppose it's one of the older models. On the plus side: pose, design and proportions are very nice.

Anyway, back to more important things. First, there's this objective marker I've been withholding from you:

...and now excuse me for a bit, I have to finish these Land Raiders.

@bigfish: Thanks!

Hey people,

this log has been pretty quiet, innit. Almost a week. :S Sorry about the delay. I got sidetracked with commission work and something for a painting competition that wouldn't let me post WIP pictures or anything before the judging is over.

But here's finally some new WIPs of the Landship!

First, I had this rather counter-productive idea of adding some guys ot the crew because the six original crewmen looked like a little few for the whole ship:

(the three leftmost guys are the new ones). There will be another one but he requires some converting first.

Also, here's a first proper WIP shot of the ship itself:

I hope you like it. Painting the ship itself is pretty slow as I had to come up with a colour scheme first and now I pretty much put together the whole thing after each little step to adore the looks of the model. It's basically just stuck together at this point, in fact the model is still in 7 large parts plus some smaller things like the cannon, anchor, a bunch of exhaust pipes, levers and so on.

Anyhow, let me know what you think of the overall colour scheme so far. At this point the ship's hull and the crew still clash a little but that should be evened out as soon as the ship itself gets a bit more colour (like on the shields, a proper flag and such.

That is coming along just beautifully Sigur! I love the model and those crewmen are simply georgeous (for rough and ready sea/land fairing men!) I can't wait to see the shields and bits with colour, but the actually ship itself is great, the wooden look is excellently done! I love how you can bounce from blood spattered white marines to elegant models to ye olde land sailors!

@Nerdfest09: Thanks.

@Gitsplitta: You're welcome! I know what that's like. Sometimes you just see a mini that surprises you or that you just like a lot conceptwise. Recently had that with a certain miniature I should get as a christmas present from someone. Anyhow, glad to be of service.

@tortured robot: Thanks. Right when The Forge came up with it I had to get it. it's such a great throwback to earlier times of Warhammer. Apart from that, to me it is what Empire engineers are there for: Stuff that's really cool but inpractical and very prone to malfunction. Another thing I love about this model is that it's not overly armed (like ....well, almost all warhammer or 40k vehicles). I really like that model.

@Rogue Wolves: Thank you! As for the Empire general: dremelled away the legs (kept some of the leg armour though, used the legs of the Pegasus knight kit as the basis for the new legs, replaced the upper thighs with wires, resculpted the trousers and some other bits....and that's it really. So from the knees down it's mostly Pegasus Knight legs and between hip and knees, it's sculpted. I hope that was of help?

Now I quickly want to share a few pictures of what's coming up next - more Evil Sunz!

In words:
.) 12 more Slugga Boyz including Nob and big shoota
.) Biker Bigboss
.) Biker Nobz
.) Soopakannon wagon
.) 5 Deffkoptaz
.) 6 more Nobz on foot

All in the usual red-scratched-flamey-patterned beauty.

I'm planning to really power through this batch of Orks (also making them look pretty while I'm at it of course). After that it's some more Space Marines (tons, actually), a little bit of Aeronautica Imperialis and so on.

edit: Oh, there's another thing - army pictures of Salamanders and Pre-Heresy World Eaters.

Here we go:

Salamanders force showcase article

Pre-Heresy World Eaters army showcase article

Hope you like it. And let's hope that I never will do any armies that are not on sand bases, otherwise I'd have to build another presentation tablet which would be like so much work and all. :p

No replies yet? Alright, time for a real crowd-pleaser then!

Behold the very dark and mostly just basecoated models you could see at any given gaming club!

Guess we gotta get through this phase before all the tasty red and yellow can be added:

I'm having this crazy plan of finishing the whole lot until the 22nd. Or the 24th. I guess when I'm sitting there painting Orks on Christmas day I'll see it as a failure (even though the thought of this scenario actually sounds pretty nice. ). Anyhow, see you soon with more updates!

Ah more green xenos to fill our computer screens with! thank you for doing more! they never get old when you do them so well :-) your green skin is perfect for them, not too dark, not too light.... just right, it's looking especially good on the w.i.p biker!
And it would indeed be a 'merry christmas' if you spent it painting mini's! just make sure you wear a santa hat o.k!

@nerdfest09: Thanks for commenting. I'm actually fairly sure that I'll do at least a bit of miniature painting on the 24th but I don't own a santa's hat. This will come as a shock but actually the santa's hat in my avatar picture is just very cleverly photoshopped in. Paid the guy € 200 for the job but it's worth it.

@bigfish: Cheers. It's a bunch of pretty models. Nice mix of not-too-many Boyz, a bunch of very characterful nobz. a neat FW boss on a killer bike, a bunch more nobz on bikes (FW stuff as well) and some deffkoptas. The latter I actually never had in my hands before as my Orks army doesn't have those. Come to think of it, my Orks army has nothing that works so greatly well in the latest codex. Well, I got Nobz on Bikes (Boars in my case). Those work kinda well. :p Er, I guess I'm rambling again...

Without much further ado, here's Ork WIPs:

In the next stage I'll meticulously destroy the paintjob again.
